Below are some common myths I have heard and the true reality of them

Myth 1: Bitcoin is also cryptocurrency

Most people tag BTC under Crypto thinking they mean same thing, but they don’t. Bitcoin is digital currency, while crypto is a general name for thousands of different coins and tokens. They are not built for the same purpose and do not carry same level of risk.

Myth 2: You need big money to start Bitcoin

This is very wrong bcos you can actually start with whatever you can afford; whether small or big fund. The important thing is that your learning and accumulating

Myth 3: Bitcoin will make you rich quickly

Nobody can promise that because the price of BTC fluctuates. Anyone who tells you you that Bitcoin will make you rich fast is giving you bad advice. It’s better to have a long term plan than to chase quick profits.

Myth 4: Bitcoin transactions are fully anonymous.

Bitcoin is not completely anonymous. All transaction we do is recorded on a public blockchain. Though, your real name won’t show, but your transactions can still be tracked

Myth 7: It’s always safe to leave your BTC on exchange

An exchange is actually useful in buying and selling Bitcoin, but it’s not the safest place to keep for a long time. If the exchange is hacked or stop withdraw, you might lose access to your BTC. Thats why many experienced bitcoiners prefer to have self custody

Always take your time to make proper research and learn from experienced investors on the forum. Good knowledge about BTC is equals to better decision making

There are some topics about Bitcoin myth in the forum.
some myths Bitcoin has defeated.
Let us Bust the Bitcoin Myth before the year end!

These threads were created December 2025.
The OP makes a great impact, to come up with this, because some people still believe in some of these misconceptions about Bitcoin and they are not true.

Bitcoin will always remain a crypto coin but it is different from altcoins and what differentiates it from all other crypto coins is it's volatility, it's not a stable coin because it goes through the same market changes like others but it's quite low, on that I disagree. One myth that flies around is that Bitcoin makes you rich quickly, that's actually an agreeable one because a lot of people have this misconception until they become more experienced.

I would say that you should actually prioritize the use of search engines not basically because of creating duplicate threads but because of the fact that you need to read more to gain more knowledge and if at all you’re actually not yet seeing repetitive threads like this then you’re most likely not surfing the forum like you should as a newbie.

It’s not entirely a bad idea creating idea, but the forum isn’t fond of repeating threads or going over discussions that have actually been discussed before except there are new ideas or developments centering around that topic. The act of recycling threads is simply seeing as a spam

You have got to be kidding me, you actually believe this to be "great impact"?

Op has basically just regurgitated what has been posted on this forum countless times already and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to start a new thread about this. If you see people wey still believe in this kind misconception, you fit correct them, come point them to threads wey don dey about the subject, no be to start new topic on the matter.

Indeed tagging Bitcoin under crypto is the right thing, because Bitcoin is a crypto, but crypto is not a Bitcoin, simply because the word cryptocurrency is a general name that is been used to classify all digital currencies that is been protected and secured by cryptograph, which happens to be a system whereby messages are been encoded through its very own blockchain and only parties involved has access to it. So if you see people call Bitcoin a crypto, then just know that they are not wrong, because infact, Bitcoin was the first crypto to ever exist and will remain the most influencer crypto to dominate the entire crypto market cap.

Myth 2: You need big money to start Bitcoin

This is very wrong bcos you can actually start with whatever you can afford; whether small or big fund. The important thing is that your learning and accumulating
And the happy thing is that there now exist some friendly crypto exchange that can allow you to invest the least $2 in Bitcoin, of which you can keep it their on the exchange and after you have gotten a reasonable amount you move it to a more safer place which is a non custodial wallets.

You are right, there is a good number of related topics and when i saw the title of the thread, it did hit me to have seen something about myths before but, it doesn’t really have to take the title to carry the same context. Some of the ones I found are:

common bitcoin misconceptions people still believe
Myths vs Facts and my assumptions about Bitcoin
The second is a bulk of resource though.

OP, in your point one, you’re actually stating that Bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency? Is that it. Because I’ll find that very hard to believe. I get the fact that we like to subjectively talk about Bitcoin but, it is a cryptocurrency.

Let’s be guided on misinformation!
