Well, we should expect more of these threads to be created more often over time, just like when the merit system was introduced and almost half of the threads created in this section at that time were mostly related to merit, either about how unfair the system is or how to earn merits and rank up.

In this topic, there is no clear mention on what are criteria taken care to conclude for issuing signature ban.

(1) It is said, based on overall post history.

I am not sure what superpower nutildah got to go through 5000+ posts to find a spammer in 24 hours or a week of time.

So, it is based on campaign where they are enrolling and I noticed mostly hero/legendary members were the targets so far.

I do not know if some one has already pointed this out but I can say that the sigban is not targeting hero and legendary ranks alone, some other ranks like full member, senior member ranks have been a victim of the ban too..

And if you check the modlog, you will discover that even a User with newbie rank was sigbaned some couple of minutes or hours ago, and this, I am actually wondering why/what could have lead to a newbie who hasn't even qualified to wear signatures getting a sigban  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3717970

But what I definitely will agree to is that the sigban will probably affect the high ranking members more than those in the lower ranks, but I believe that so long as you are not a spammer, and you always make sure to adhere and keep the rules of the forum, then there is nothing to fear..

You just need to look at his trust profile and understand who he is and how long ago this user was warned about using AI. However, he should have been banned forever, since the rules prohibiting publications created with the help of AI were introduced much earlier than the recent bans that are being discussed throughout the forum today. I don't think he's "in danger" of participating in signature creation companies in the future, as he's already tarnished his reputation as an AI user.

Nutildah, 1000% is abusing the forum and its systems. Good luck changing anything. The entire forum is ran by a small group of people and about 100 of their alt accounts all in cahoots.

There are no groups, the forum has one main admin and he decides on everything. You may think that this is some kind of democracy where everyone has a vote, but the system works differently and you won't change it by accusing others. I don't see any abuse in all this, the forum needs a purge from time to time and that will happen regardless of what anyone thinks about it.

Users who use AI for posting and plagiarism too need to be banned permanently, not only signature ban. I know about the AI guidelines but banning signature for AI or plagiarism abuse is too soft ban.

A signature ban was used probably because the user was reported recently and it's easily to take action now than waiting for that user to rank up to higher rank and ban him at that time. Because it will require spending extra time for checking in the future while it is not worth spending time with spammers.

Plagiarism: If you copy some text from somewhere, then you should have a good reason for it, and you must link to the source. Doing otherwise is plagiarism. Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.

Finally, definition of spam is differing person to person. So, proper guidelines would help.

However.  The definition of an alternative account does not differ from person to person.  So.  Which account is your main?  Or.  Was it hit by a nutildah signature strike and now you had to start this Topic from your alternative?

I have yet to see an account that got a signature strike they did not deserve.  Only if there was a SIGNATURE BAN APPEAL TOPIC for such future cases to be discussed!

If you want to blame someone publicly, then you should have clear and transparent evidence. You may create a reputation thread about what went wrong with you and if Nutildah was involved with that, point it clearly. I know when banning power is given to general users like us, then probably there will be a lot of controversy, and we may see many more similar threads popping up.

However, everything depends on the administrator. They know to whom they should give that power, and also if they misuse that power, it won't take time to remove them from power. So if you believe something went wrong with you, then create a new thread or write personally to theymos regarding your issues. No group controls the forum; only moderator groups keep that clean.

After the Sig. Ban system was introduced, I can see many kinds of discussions but there is no reason for this kind of discussion here. Those who are good posters and are following all the forum rules and regulations while maintaining both quality and quantity in their posts have not faced any problem. The step taken by nutildah will work nicely to keep yourself professionally at a better standard. You are trying in vain to explain to this user what "black" and "white" mean. In his interpretation, nutildah will always be wrong. It's enough for you to read his debates on the use of AI (in the relevant topic) and make sure that it's easier for some people not to explain and prove anything than to waste their time getting a positive response. No matter what the forum does for the convenience and improvement of users, there will always be those who say, "I'm against it," despite how convenient it seems to others.

The audacity is such that these guys have the audacity to create new accounts to join these debates, clearly demonstrating how many users have alternative accounts.

For me, it's a matter of catching them all and banning them.

Maybe, something like trust flags,  but wait for it...sig flags. We've got a few users who can dish out the signature bans so they do the majority of the work.

How about something like a decentralised team

I also think the initial ban should be for 120 days, not a year. The forum averages about 25,000 posts per week, and long-term bans would significantly reduce overall activity, while a three-month ban would provide just enough time for a re-examination (a second ban would double the ban, for example).

And could help not just in improving overall quality but also traffic.
I doubt who was caught would want to face an harsher punishment later.
They can use the probation period to grow.
