Exactly. There were like 3 copies of each thread on the forum at least. There's no way any savvy user who happens to be the OP of a scam accusation doesn't pull it back up at one of these sites.
They probably offered him significant amount of bribe money, so he cracked and accepted it.
We can only speculate regarding real amounts he accepted, but he was certainly blinded with money.
Corruption exist everywhere, and other moderators need to be on their best behavior now.

It does, but hiring someone who could be manipulated this easily in a historically important forum shows a lack of vetting. This is not the first time a staff member here has gone beyond their duties and brought shame to the entire community. Kudos to the admin for identifying this, restoring faith, and removing him from the moderator role.

"A lack of vetting?"  I have no idea what you have in mind, but I highly doubt that the admin selects the forum management at random, so there is some kind of check after all.  More vetting would not have changed a thing - everyone has a price or a leverage point.  No background check on earth can predict exactly what kind of leverage, pressure, or temptation it will ultimately take to manipulate someone.

I disagree.  The only way this brings shame on the entire community is if the community actually supported that behavior, which clearly is not the case here.  The only person he brought shame on is himself.
