It's kinda pretty much known that the farm is getting small slice of the bread, every money you pay goes to distribution. There is reason farmers aren't getting rich and only earning enough to keep them survive the next harvesting season. Every documentary always points to the distribution taking up huge chunk of the fee. Money is always on financing and distribution side.
Most farmers aren't laborers. I may be a farmer who owns both lots of farm and the distribution units. There is no way I won't be highly profitable if I'm in total control of the business. While a laborer is still a farmer but does only the planting, cultivating, and harvesting. At the end of the day, they are paid wages. If it's monthly, they will be paid a salary. You dont expect these people to make high profits because it is obvious that they are down the money chain. People talk about farming like its some cheap business to start. To be profitable in farming, you have to own vehicles, production sites, deal on cash crops, animal farming etc. In summary I still believe the biggest revnue comes from the farm.

I think the ultimate money glitch is closing the gap between buyers and sellers. But not everyone can go into this sector. If not, what happens to the actual production. At the end, the value chain depends on the other. And all part you one chooses have a different kind of risk. Never the same. What I think is even more better if only one part of the Chain is studied and understood well to stand firm in the agricultural sector
I share your view. The agricultural value chain do depend on every part, so if everyone rush into only buying and selling the actual production can be neglected. So the important thing is for the people to understand where their strength and opportunity is, be it farming, logistics, storage, processing and connecting buyers with sellers, and let's not forget that each parts has there challenges and different risk. So instead of trying very hard to do everything, it will be much better to study about one part of the chain and become very good enough to solve the problem that is there. With it I think the whole agricultural system can continue to grow because every part is supporting the other .

I'm my country, where agriculture is the backbone of our economy. The country is rich in land, crops, and various fruits that grows well in tropical country. You may think that farmers earns so much. But that's the opposite. Farmers here in my country often get looked down by people. Because farmer here doesn't earn much. They don't even have enough money for their basic needs. They're barely surviving with their little to no income. Why? It's because it's always the middlemen or the third party who are earning more than them. They buy these farmers' crops at a very low price while selling it in the market at greater price. I know that the cost of transporting it could be bigger, but if you know the struggles of the farmer here... Sometimes they worked months to harvest their crops but during the season, there will be too much supply and it'll be hard for them to sell it. That's why they end up selling at so much low cost or just throw it back on their land because no one is buying it... And that's the struggles of the farmers here

Have we forgotten that there is what is called division of labour and with our elementary idea, there is no way one person will profit from all the money that will be made from Agriculture unless such person is into full scale Agriculture where he he owns the farm, do the harvesting, sorting, processing and packaging depending whats is to be produced which might not be possible. For example those that sell chicken in the cold rooms, they might not be the ones that rear the chickens, they might not own any farm anywhere, rather the go to farms to buy from those that rear them, stock them in their cool room, then sell to either direct consumers or retailers and at every stage of this, more money is been made.
So I do not expect that more profit in Agriculture should be in the farm alone because farmers can not sell higher than the final processor, as the farm products undergoes processes to become finished goods, the prices are expected to differ.

When it comes to agriculture, it is one of the biggest sectors in the world that brings in good revenue, and like you said, one good thing is that people who are making money from agriculture might not even be the farmers because there are people who process products from agriculture, and I think the fewest people who make money from agriculture are not even the farmers.
Even though it carries some risk, one of the most dependable investments is still something that people cannot live without. One thing I've noticed is that supply cannot match demand, so people must also get involved in agriculture. You don't have to want to be a farmer, but you can do what you believe will benefit you in that industry because it's so large. And there are countries where one of the things that boost there economy is agriculture, so you see how important it is to the people and to the country.
It's true and I can attest this point. Since I was young I meet my parents making money from agriculture and they aren't farming, though many people actually referred agriculture generally a Farmers, so once you aren't farming they think you aren't doing the needed things. However, I was very impressed with the ideas or the strategies they use in making money through agriculture, they are into farm products such as making rows foods into a valuable food that people must buy/eat everyday, examples like buying fresh tomatoes and turning it into packaging paste, buying huge amounts of milk and turning it into yogurt. So they makes alots of money through this strategies without being a farmer. So agriculture is generating alots of money but it depends on how we approach it.

Surely the lucrative section of agriculture may not be tied to the farm land itself, the potential of the sector is enormous, in both developed and developing economies.
The lucrative sector of agriculture is in being sponsored by the government through low interest rate loans and subsidy. Farmers who are making huge profit and boast a luxurious lifestyle are included on that select group of businessmen who have close ties with the government. They are also focused in exporting in large quantities, instead of selling inside the country. Everyone else working on countryside is struggling and sacrificing their lives for a profit which I believe isn't worthy. With so much technology nowadays, production could be automated already, although the expensive costs involved (mainly due to abusive taxes over the machinery, hardware and software) prevents that from happening. Agriculture is another rigged game controlled by centralized parties which will always act to protect the whales, while sacrificing the average and small producers.

This is the business that my uncle is doing in the village. He's a middle man to the farmers and the buyer. He moves around to scot for farmers that their farm produce is almost ready for harvest negotiate with them on how much to buy the farm produce without them harvesting it. He brings people to harvest it and convey them to the buyer who will buy all at once.
He buys them cheaper and make good profit from it. I also have a friend who produces palm oil locally. He goes directly to the farmers to buy their palm fruits. Advertisement is also another way of making money from agriculture.

In agriculture, from production to marketing, not only farmers work alone, but many other professions are involved. I do not understand what you mean by saying that one of the most successful entrepreneurs in agriculture does not sow a single seed. If he does not sow a seed, if he does not grow a crop, how is he a successful farmer? Yes, you can say that a farmer cannot succeed with a single effort. A farmer can succeed as a result of the hard work of many people in the entire industry, from workers to marketing.

You are right but it depends on the kind of farmer that you are, because as a farmer, you don't only need to depend on selling your farm produce alone. You should also try to acquire machines that can process those farm produce so that you can do the marketing yourself, by so doing, you will make more profits from your farming. This is why the government are the major beneficiaries of agriculture because they have all the machinery to process these foods, store them and package it very well for marketing.
Sadly, majority of farmers are poor and they cannot even afford agrochemicals like fertilizers to enhance growth of the crops and pesticides to protect the plants. So, it is really difficult for most farmers to enjoy the bigger revenues that comes from agriculture.

Banks and credit organizations make a fortune from farming, but they hardly come close to the farm except for supervision. Many agricultural banks offer loans to farmers and collect a percentage of the farm profit at the end of every farming season. Internationally, there are banks such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development that offer loans to countries and make money from interest. So those who finance agricultural projects make money without engaging in farming.

You are absolutely right. Here in my country, which is considered an agricultural country, the biggest beneficiary of agriculture does not plant a single seed in the ground and does not know anything about agriculture in the first place. He is the middleman who buys agricultural products from farmers and sells them to consumers.
For example, 1 kg of tomatoes costs the farmer 15 cents, he sells it to the middleman for 20 cents, and this middleman or wholesaler sells it to shops for about 35 cents. That is, the middleman profits three times as much as the farmer, and perhaps more, without having to go through the trouble of farming, the costs of plowing, irrigation, pesticides, and so on.

There are different levels in agriculture and although everyone is involved in agriculture at different levels, they are not or cannot be called real farmers. First, let's talk about real farmers: Those who work mainly at the field level and are involved in crop production are called real farmers. For example - landowners, those who work on the land, those who manage the irrigation system and many others.
Middleman traders: Although some farmers sell their products directly in the market, most farmers sell their crops from their land to an intermediary who basically processes the crops and prepares them for the market, they are basically called wholesalers. It would be wrong to call these intermediaries farmers, they are basically traders.
Retailers: Their main job is to buy crops from wholesalers and sell them to consumers, they are also called traders. These three levels of people play a direct role in reaching the crops from the field to the consumer, and among them, the retailer gets the most profit, then the wholesaler and the real farmer gets the least profit. There can be a debate between the wholesaler and the retailer about who gets the most profit, and this can vary from product to product and from location to location.
Another level is the facilitator: These are mainly those who work for the agricultural development project. For example, an agricultural officer, technology providers, preservers and crop transporters. Although these people do not play a direct role in agriculture, their role in agricultural development is the most important.

This is where many of the biggest agricultural opportunities are hiding. A farmer may work for months to produce perishable commodities, but without proper storage and access to buyers, a large portion of that value can disappear within days, obviously the bigger problem is in preservation, processing and distribution. Theoretically we can casually say input determines what we should expect as an output, unfortunately in the lines of agriculture your output will determine your input! I say this because as a farmer in this case, you already know what grade of a commodity you want to achieve and to get there you know that using x & y as your raw materials you will get xy and not ab, BM etc so in short planning is very vital to know what results you want to expect.. failing this small task guarantees failure even before getting started! Surely the lucrative section of agriculture may not be tied to the farm land itself, the potential of the sector is enormous, in both developed and developing economies.
valid points indeed, but with farming to survive sometimes just takes getting the right customer for your produce and with a bit of luck here & there...some customers are willing to pay a premium if the produce is of high grade.. sometimes it's about having the cheapest methods of farming to make the biggest profits [profits>cost].

A farmer must not necessary be in the farm working by himself, but a farmers are those that have experience even though they are not physically there. Agriculture generate a lot of revenue because it have so many branches which are all needed in our lives, that is why you will see a farmer who do not have Farmland, but he is specializing on a different part of it just like fishery or poultry farming, even all these particular one, a farmer need a second hand, someone who can assist him in doing some certain work because he cannot be able to do it all by himself. To be a farmer does not really mean you must be a labourer, just look for money after getting the experience and everything will work perfectly well for you.

The farmers are just the producer. Furthermore, this farmer are not business people, so they will not think like a business person at all, what they will do after production is to sell either in small profit or even in lost so that they can get rid of the goods. Some of the farmers are producing in loan which if you do the calculation and settle the loan after they harvested of everything, you will discover that they had no profit, all their hard labour is in vain and that will not stop them from planting next times again. The middle men or the retailers buy form the farmers at a lower rate, then transport it to a location with higher demand and sell it on a higher price, which they will end up getting profit more than the people that work hard for months. This is all business nothing more nothing less.

Yes, the profit opportunities in agriculture are not limited to production, but often more value is created in the stages after production. In our region too it is seen that even after a good harvest, farmers do not get a fair price due to weak storage or market access systems. If this problem can be solved, both farmers and entrepreneurs will benefit. However another issue is also important, It is not enough to have infrastructure, but accurate market information must also be reached to the farmers. Many times, the lack of information about where the demand is high or at what price it should be sold causes losses. And if storage, transportation and easy flow of information are ensured together, it is possible to better utilize the real potential of the agricultural sector.

Those who actually make the most money are the ones who sell fertilizer and agricultural pesticides. They don’t face the risk of crop failure or anything like that. However, they will experience a decline in demand or fewer buyers when farming operations come to a halt. for example, due to a prolonged drought or similar circumstances.
Being a farmer doesn’t just mean focusing on farming. You also have to be smart about processing agricultural produce into products that generate higher profits. For example, in my area, there’s a cassava farmer who also owns a cassava chip factory. He also has a marketing team that promotes his cassava chips. As a result, he earns profits from farming and maximizes those profits by processing his crops into products that sell well in the market. Otherwise, the actual profit from farming isn’t as large as one might imagine, since it must cover the costs of land preparation, fertilizer, and pesticides. all of which are becoming increasingly expensive. Consequently, there’s no choice but to be resourceful in creating products from one’s own agricultural produce to maximize profits.

In other country agriculture is one of the biggest earnings because they are the one who harvest all of the foods we have in our table but these are only into a good countries, right now here in my country in the Philippines, these farmers are one of the poor, the large business sectors are buying their lands and use a iron hand just only to get their properties and ending is the government does not support the farmers at all instead they make them poorer, they import goods from other countries and let their community suffer even though the price is more cheaper into our local. Imagine monthly once they harvest its over supply sometimes hoard just to tell with the government its lacking of supply and they import more because of the cut of the officials. I feel sorry for them.
I belongs to an agricultural country, most of the people adopt this as an occupation. After putting lot of effort or waiting for months they get less than their efforts. It is not because the prices are low,but it is because of the strong control of landlords or merchants over the market. They have strong impact on the labour, they forcefully set the lower prices of the goods and purchase all that from them. But as they have excess in selling market or they import these goods at higher prices. So agriculture itself is not lower income occupation but it is due to power in few hands, or corruption that deorived the interest of labour. The only solution is this, producer should get its education or adopt technology or even must involve in selling rather to depend on the landlords or other party.
