I have a friend who is into poultry, he said that the work is very tasking but in terms of profit that it is the whole sellers that buys it from them and supplies to the retailers and restaurants that gains the most, they don't put as much work as the farmers but they gain so much more. I also know somebody who is into Cocoa farming, he said that after putting in all the hard labor labor that is is the government approved distributors that buys it from them that makes bulk profit.

It is not the work that makes you money but the leverage you have over others that makes you the most income in every business and agriculture is just one of those business that you can see this play out very well. There are people making money that don't own any farm or livestock meanwhile the real farmers are not being paid fairly, like you said the poultry farmer invests so much into catering for his hen to lay eggs but the people that make the most profit are those supplying this egg to supermarket and restaurants and that is why you have to be involved in all aspect of your business so that you can make the most profit from it.

A businessman that owns the farm should also own the distribution company and also be in charge of distributing the eggs from other farmers that are not interested in joining the distribution business and that way they get to make more money and get the opportunity to open more branches for their farm so to still generate more income from their poultry and they have no middleman to pay.

I didn't quite understand exactly what point you're trying to make here. You're saying there are many middlemen in agriculture. And that you can also make money as one of them. But you're not asking why there are so many middlemen or why people can't access cheaper food.
Perhaps we need to correctly identify the problem and solve it. Why does a product that costs 1 unit at the farm end up costing 8 units by the time it reaches the end consumer? What is the government doing to prevent this? Why should the public pay high prices just so middlemen can get rich? Why is food inflation occurring? I think discussing these issues is far more important than focusing on how middlemen in agriculture make money.

Those questions are exactly needed to be answered and in the situation of our farmers in my country, there are a lot of questions left unanswered. About why the farmers are selling their veggies cheaply and when it reaches the market, it's already tenfold of the prices. It's because there are a lot of middlemen where it goes and with the cost of transportation but, it's not justifiable why the farmers are earning less than these middlemen. The government needs to be the one transporting the goods instead of middlemen so that they can apply subsidy to the logistics which is why the cost rises.

One of the most successful entrepreneurs in agriculture may never plant a single seed. Whenever people talk about making money from agriculture, the first advice is usually; "acquire a land and start farming." But farming is only one part of a much larger agricultural economy.

I agree with you on this point because I’ve seen it myself, the marketers who go to the farmers and get farm products and bring them to the cities or even export them to other countries often make a lot more money than the farmers at last.

Quote from: CTO114
Before food moves from the farm to your table, it must be harvested, collected, sorted, preserved, transported, processed, packaged, finance and distributed. And at every stage of that journey, there is a problem waiting for someone to solve profitably.
The farmer produces the crops. Who prevents the produce from spoiling? Who transports it to other areas? Who processes it into a higher value product? Who supplies the machinery? Who connects the farmer to reliable buyers?

Every step in the transportation and processing of farm products are potentially profitable in some cases, you just have to figure out which works with your skills better. And that doesn’t mean there are not some farmers that also make a lot of profits from their farms.

That one of the most exciting things about agricultural businesses, even delivering the finished products is also very profitable and a lot more of them as you’ve already mentioned some.

Every form of agriculture requires money and over the time, I've alway known that the level of our profit in Agriculture depends on how much we invest in it no matter the area we choose to focus on and yes I agree with the op that, those making the actual profit might not be planting a seed but I think they might even have to be also spending more money to run those services like transportation, preservation and processing which we all know it's always an expensive process.
