Has anyone here ever accidentally sent Bitcoin to the wrong address? Or has anyone ever received Bitcoin from an unknown address and suspected that someone had sent it by mistake?
Never. I've never received Bitcoin from a stranger nor have I ever sent Bitcoin to the wrong address and I hope this continues. This is one of the biggest risks with Bitcoin because Bitcoin transactions are unlike bank transactions. If you send the wrong amount, you can ask customer service to return it. However, with Bitcoin, if you send it incorrectly, the Bitcoin becomes the property of someone else, and it's very rare for a good person to return it. Therefore, in Bitcoin, you are 100% responsible for security.
It's best to test a small transfer before making a large transfer because this is the safest method. Although there will be additional fees, the extra fees are far less expensive than losing your entire asset. Also, before making a transaction, always double check the address you copied and pasted, then compare the first and last characters. These are two aspects I always consider before making any Bitcoin transactions.
