But unfortunately, Sevilla has had a run of bad luck over the past few seasons. In fact, last season Sevilla nearly faced relegation. As the “King of the Europa League,” I really want to see Sevilla back in this tournament. It’s really not good, is it, for the team with the most Europa League titles to be absent from European competition for so long.
It's clear that Sevilla have declined in form a lot due to poor management and poor coaching system. I could remember a few seasons back when Sevilla will use the Europa league to qualify for the Champions League.

I am not expecting any magic from Sevilla if they don't improve the team performance and make it solid in order for them to be able to meet up with the challenges in Laliga before they can finish on top six.

Yes. Sevilla is currently experiencing this slump, all due to financial problems and internal instability, which have left them unprepared for the start of the new season. Every season they have had to fight to escape the relegation zone. I also hope Sevilla can bounce back this season and finish in the top six as you mentioned.

If Sevilla used the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League in the past, perhaps Aston Villa will do the same now under the leadership of Unai Emery.
Because Sevilla success was inseparable from Unai Emery intelligence. We can see this last season when he led Aston Villa to the Europa League trophy and established himself as a successful coach in the Europa League.

Next season, if we look at the teams currently in the European leagues Milan and Juventus will probably be the favorites for the trophy. Although they performed less impressively last season they are big teams that will be able to make changes more quickly. Moreover, considering Milan current form with their player transfers and Amorim high ambition to prove himself as a potential coach, I am very confident that Milan will be a serious threat in the race for the Europa League trophy next season.

If Milan amd Juventus are in this competition, I wouldn't choose Sunderland or any of the EPL teams to be the favorite because Juventus and Milan are bigger than this competition. It's just that their performance wasn't impressive last season which made them fall out from the top four spot after the last match to end the season.

You are still rating AC Milan and Juventus based on their past performance in European competitions but if you look at their performance in the current seasons, you will see that they are not even the favorites in this Europa League season. I know that Juventus made some good efforts last season in the Serie A but they were inconsistent because they were ahead of Como and would have qualified for the Champions League but they fumbled in their last 2 matches to the end of the season that is why they settled for the Europa League. AC Milan on the other hand is even the worst, they were in the second position of the Serie A table last season which they maintained for a very long time but they finally finished in the 5th position which is very shameful of them. From the EPL teams in the Europa League, i will choose Crystal Palace because they won the conference league last season, this season they made it to the Europa League so they can as well win the Europa League but it will need great preparation and hard work because the Europa league games are harder than conference league matches.

Even without Juventus and AC Milan, I still would not choose Sunderland as my favorite team to win the Europa League. I would prefer Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Real Sociedad before even thinking of picking Sunderland. To me, Sunderland do not have more experienced players than the three teams I have mentioned. Now that Juventus and AC Milan are in the competition, my favorite team to win the Europa League next season is definitely Juventus. After Juventus, my next favorites are Crystal Palace and Real Sociedad, as I see them as two of the strongest teams currently.

My reason for not including AC Milan among my top three favorites to win the Europa League next season is because of how poorly they performed toward the end of last season. I am also not convinced they will do well next season because of their new coach, Amorim. Based on his performance at Manchester United, I don't see Amorim as a coach who is likely to rebuild AC Milan to the level expected. Also, Serie A is a very competitive league.

I agree because it's obvious that Sunderland doesn't have what it takes, but we shouldn't forget that anything can happen and that their chances are limited compared to even Juventus and AC Milan. I also know that they are aware of the players they have, so they should be working on them because the transfer window is still very active and they should have taken note of some players who will help them. I'll put this message somewhere in case Juventus didn't, and another thing is what gives you confidence that Juventus will prevail.

And you think they'll improve this season? Amorim had a terrible season while he was at Manchester United, which is why I don't think AC Milan will improve this season. Where Amorim is coming from, nothing positive is coming from that team, so I expected something better, which is why I don't trust the assessment that AC Milan will succeed next season.

I wouldn't say that it is crucial that they are around. I would rather want those to be around that deserve it based on their performance today, not past performances. I agree that in any competition you would want most, if not all, of the best teams to be around and naturally, those teams that won a lot of competitions in the past are often those who are still somewhere at the top, but you can see that things change over time.

When you check the teams that won the former UCL format in the 70s or 80, some of the names are pretty much nobodies today regarding the biggest stages in world football. Eindhoven, Red Star, Marseille, Feyenoord, Celtic Glasgow, they all won the former European Cup and now they are nowhere to be found, yet the UCL is still a great competition.

Because Amorim performance was poor at Manchester United doesn't that mean he wouldn't perform  well at AC Milan. I personally don't believe that Amorim will not be successful at AC Milan. Remember he was successful at Sporting CP before moving to Manchester united. So he can still be successful at AC Milan. Aston villa would have been my favourite if they hadn't qualified for the champions league so my next favourite is crystal palace. Juventus are not in form. They performance in the previous season wasn't good at all . On the other hand,AC Milan have a high chances of improving next season as they now have a new coach,Amorim. I believe Amorim will not flop at AC Milan same way did at united.

Calling Milan and Juventus are bigger than this competition while both of clubs never ever win this competitions during 2000s. I respect your optimism but i have seen those italian clubs played in this competition so many times, yet they never won this. It's my reason not to put those clubs as non favorites in UEL.
the big name doesn't guarantee the success.
Most teams that are considered to be big find it hard to win in this competition. I have always come across teams you may think are average or small that end up being the winners of the league.

One thing about the Europa League is that it is very unpredictable, and these big teams that are participating don't see it as a target to win because they focus all their attention just on their home league. I think average teams know it is not possible to win their home league but choose to put in more effort, and that is why they always succeed in winning the Europa competition.

Of course, it is a matter of prestige to win a European competition, but for clubs from the top European leagues, the English and Spanish leagues, the priority is still a good result in their national leagues because this brings them income and a place in European competitions next season.
The season is very long and tiring, with a lot of matches, and clubs sometimes have to rest key players.
The only reason why an English or Spanish club would focus more on this competition is if winning this competition is their only chance to participate in the Champions League next season.
Italian football, both club and national, has been in crisis for a very long time, and Juve and Milan are living on their old glory.

You are right mate, I concur. It was only last season that played out as predicted that Aston Villa would win and they did. From two seasons ago down, it has been unpredictable and we see big surprises when the least expected clubs with no big names became the winners. After all, I don't know if Milan and Juventus will be able to improve their performance.

No team should be underrated in the Europa League because the winner could be the least expected team. This season Europa competition would be more competitive than last season because we have more bigger clubs than the previous season. We saw the outcome of last season's game at the finals with Aston Villa's 3-0 win against Freiburg, more like a normal game without any struggle.

With AC Milan and Juventus in this competition, it is normal to expect that they should be amongst the competition for the trophy.

English teams are really dangerous in UEFA tournaments. Just look at the last 2 years for example. Aston Villa and Tottenham became the EL champions. One of the finals was even between 2 English teams.  Tongue

This year the teams to join the EL from there are going to be Bournemouth and Sunderland. I can't say much about Sunderland's chances for now. But Bournemouth can also be a real threat. Iraola has left though but their squad is still strong.

They both have new coaches and that's what will determine their success this new season. If the coach can improve their performance, it's possible that one of them might win this league or be on the finals together. I am still surprised why these two teams performance declined when they're big clubs.

Bournemouth gets new coach(Marco Rose). So the better to have lesser expectation over them. Marco Rose has not yet analyze his team, and we don't even see a single game from his team in EPL. It's impossible to call them to be a potential threat following the conditions.

I'm cautiously pessimistic about them. He has to take time to build the rythm and team work. So least expectation for his first season in Bournemouth is much better. So they may deliver mediocre performance in europa league with new manager.

It's hard to guess which team to topping the favorite to win europa league cuz almost all of teams are mediocre.

About one of the Italian teams to win the Europa League next season, it's possible of course. But with some improvement in their squads first.

Milan has actually been active in the market. Especially that spending on Gonçalo Ramos was unbelievable! Juventus looks less convincing as for transfers lately.

They will face some really tough opponents on this road and I can't say their look was great in the Serie A by the end of last season. Do you believe any of them will make it here?

To see how far the Serie A teams can go, we have to check their opponents and usually the teams from the Premier League are the toughest competitors, for example Bournemouth, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are representatives of the EPL  well, for these teams, I think Juventus and AC Milan can still be relied on, yeah at least on the same level. Another tough opponent is Leverkusen from Bundesliga, I think this team is the most ready to compete, I even predict they can advance to the semifinals or even the finals. If the question is whether it's possible for any of the Serie A teams to win the trophy? I think yes, but can't guess which team yet.

When you come to the champions league, you would find the Spanish teams, teams from the Laliga to be the dominant force there, you have the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona to be weary of.
Coming down to the Europa, English teams always take it as their league, you would find the likes of Aston Villa, Spurs, Chelsea and just any team that qualifies from the premier league.

This season we would be having Sunderland that performed well mid season of the premier league but errrnt able to hold it up. They should be another force in the Europa I hope.

It’s always a little surprising how the serie A teams never measure up in these leagues, you would expect AS Roma and Juventus to show strong performances but, they always play at the same tempo.

Milan have certainly made big statement by bringing Gonçalo Ramos. And if he can adapt quickly to Amorim's system, who else can stop them!
In fact, the reason i am so excited about this signing is that it is one of the most expensive signing in club's history.

But I wouldn't write off Juventus so easily.
Yes, you could say that they are not as talked about in transfer market as Milan.
But it doesn't always take a big budget, experience in European knockout football is enough for them.

Do you believe any of them will make it here?
So my answer is, yes,
I believe that at least one Italian team will seriously fight for trophy. But I can't say who favorite is right now.
They have to prove throughout the season who the favorite will be.

They use to dominate the Europa League because they didn't have to face tough opponents, but it seems like nobody wants to leave anything behind. Aston Villa are also watching closely for whoever wants to challenge.
Aston Villa is the defending champions, they will be playing in the Champions League this season. The Super Cup is where we will see how good they're if they'll be able to win PSG.

I don't think that I have watched any Super Cup that the Europa League winner defeated the team that won the Champions League. I am expecting the unexpected in
