After narrowly being eliminated by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Thun continues its European league. Thun managed to win the first match 3-0 against its opponent, Vikingur. Despite having about three times as many shots as their opponent, they were able to score three goals. The match ended 2-0 at halftime, and in the second half, they extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal in the final minute—a goal that likely secured their advancement to the next round. Thun is already the favorite against their opponent in this round. They had put in a performance that nearly saw them eliminate Dinamo Zagreb, but it wasn’t to be.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Beşiktaş on this victory. Even though they were reduced to 10 men, they still managed to win. Under normal circumstances, I would have expected a much more comfortable victory for Beşiktaş, but this time things turned out differently because their opponents simply aren't a team at Beşiktaş's level.

Beşiktaş will most likely secure another win at home next week and advance to the next qualifying round. From there, I hope they will go on to qualify for the group stage. Based on the football they've been playing, I believe they have what it takes to reach the group stage.

Besiktas is really struggling a lot and they have been in the round before and now, still a big win for them with 10 men and they continue to go ahead. Besiktas is showing real power in hard matches for them and always in the important moments they come on top. I think they need a few more good players to get this team going well. In the second leg they will be playing at home and i think they should win a lot easier. For Besiktas it would be good if they could get some players for the other part of the season. They are really close with this win to going into the group stage.
Besiktas struggled in this game but generally, things are not too bad. This game was just a bad game but still they managed to win. Beşiktaş’s play is maturing with every match, but they still need a bit more time. With a new manager, a new approach and new players, there’s bound to be a transition period, but Beşiktaş are on the right track. I really liked the way the manager switched to a two-striker formation after being reduced to ten men. Beşiktaş could do well in the Europa League.

Who would have said that we would watch Salah at Trabzonspor as of now?  Roll Eyes  He is officially a player of them now for 2 years.

So this means that we are going to watch one of the superstars of football history in the Europa League this year. League phase isn't guaranteed for them yet though.

But if he is registered for the squad of playoff round then I expect Trabzonspor to reach league phase no matter they face Ferencvaros or Gornik Zabrze first. They are much stronger than both technically.

He is definitely going to be Trabzonspor's best player. If he can join the team in the playoffs, maybe the playoffs will not be too difficult for Trabzonspor, as a team they are quite strong, the opponent may not have the ability to beat them, especially after Salah's addition.

If I talk about this whole tournament, then even after Salah's addition, I don't consider them favorites, although they have not yet qualified for the UEFA Europa League. Even if they do, they are not favorites for the title. AC Milan and Juventus are in this league, so they can be considered favorites for now.

It is of course too much to expect Trabzonspor to be one of the favourites just because they signed Salah. He isn't even in his prime anymore considering his age which is 34 as well.

AC Milan and Juventus are in this league, so they can be considered favorites for now.

I think there are some other teams who are more favoured than these 2 teams. Before anything else English teams have been very dominant in the recent years. By the way Milan don't look good in friendlies so far.

A really challenging season might be waiting for Milan fans. Tongue

It doesn't work that way, whether Salah is registered and will play in the playoffs rounds or not for Trabzonspor or not there is no guarantee place for them in Europe. What you should know is that no single individual makes up a team. Football is a collective sport. Which means that it takes the effort and quality of each individual player to securing results, as far as football is concerned. We should not expect much from this team from Turkey because Salah now plays for them. This team has been a average team which has always struggled to making it to the ground stages of Europe football competitions in the past, and that view about them should not change automatically simply because a big player is now at the club.

I expected that Salah would have gone to the money spinning league of Saudi Arabia, which players of his age range usually goes to. In terms of making money the Saudi league is the best but, every one has their choice and him picking up a club right in Europe in a league that, is not too fancy is all his personal decision and should be respected. But I know that many fans are actually shocked about this decision coming from Salah.

In the last two years, yes, England was indeed dominant, but overall it is pretty even. Sevilla is the biggest reason why the distribution is skewed. Smiley

Benfica messed up in the league tonight, but I still see them as one of the top favorites. Juventus and Milan are both hard to assess right now, since not too many changes have been made, but the transfer period is still ongoing. I think they could still be good enough to be serious competitors in the Europa League. If they qualified for the Champions League, I don't think they would have made it very far. They are just not on that level at the moment.

I was on my lucky day last week as the picks of mine I shared last week all won. Let's see what I can do for this week...

- Beşiktaş to score over 1.5 @1.41

- Rangers to win @1.55

- Anderlecht to score over 0.5 @1.32

Total odds we have here is 2.88.

This time it was harder to make my choices. I think Beşiktaş will be more dominant at home against their weak opponent.

Rangers surprised me by that loss in the 1st leg but I think they will make up for it. Lastly Anderlecht should be able to score again this time at home.  Smiley

After narrowly being eliminated by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Thun continues its European league. Thun managed to win the first match 3-0 against its opponent, Vikingur.

Thun is actually a very positive and beautiful football story.
As early as 2025, they were members of the second Swiss league, and after winning that competition in the following season they immediately won the first Swiss league and became champions of Switzerland, for the first time in the club's 128-year history.
A truly incredible football story.
Since I follow Dinamo, I wanted to know more about that club, and after all this information, I was honestly worried, even though all the football analysts said that Dinamo was the favorite.
Dinamo was on the verge of relegation, after Thun led 2:0 in the second leg, and Dinamo was saved because of the red card and the expulsion of one Thun player.
After that, Dinamo, with a player more, equalized and won in extra time and eliminated Thun.
And this big victory by Thun in the first game of the European League against Víkingur shows that this is a very strong team that is already very close to qualifying for the group stage of this competition or the conference league.

Yes, in football you can't win the championship with just one quality player, but if you have a few players to support him, you can be ahead in the championship race. That's Trabzonspor's situation right now; they can achieve something Smiley

I don't think Milan and Juventus will care much about this competition; they will likely field squads heavily reliant on reserves for many of their matches.
In the past, English teams didn't pay much attention to this cup either, but once they reached the quarter-finals or semi-finals, they would field their first-choice squads and strive to win the trophy.
Trabzonspor cannot be considered the favorite for this cup just because Salah has joined; while he will certainly add strength, I don't think it will be enough to win the title.

I'm not sure about the not caring much part. Because we never know whether they will be able to finish in top 4 this time or not. Maybe it could be another horrible season for at least one of those 2 in the Serie A. Tongue

Because I still don't see much improvement on their end. I mean improving squad quality for example. Therefore they might need to push for winning the Europa League to be able to qualify for the Champions League.

This is football and it’s just normal to find players transfer to other leagues and a team that wouldn’t be so demanding of them during the transfer window. Salah arrived Trabzonspor on a free transfer and his deal is a little sweetened with lots of benefits. I think it’s a good choice to play in the Turkish league, which isn’t exactly off the main screen and offers a great deal of competition. Though, I wouldn’t be expecting much from Trabzonspor still, Salah is gradually preparing himself for retirement.

The Turkish league club has qualified directly for the UEFA Europa League play-offs in the upcoming season, we all know this but the fact that Mohamed Salah is included in this team does not mean that this team is the favorite to win the UEFA Europa League. Undoubtedly Mohamed Salah was a legendary player for Liverpool but he is already 34 so we feel like he may not be able to play in the great rhythm as before but with his experience he may be able to play in Trabzonspor's upcoming Europa League matches. Another important thing is that the Turkish club is trying to bring Mohamed Salah's Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez from Al Hilal, my idea which will increase the depth of this team's attack.

Yes, AC Milan and Juventus are in this league but you take note they may not be the favorite either because AC Milan is performing the worst in club friendly matches but Italian club Juventus they are still in great rhythm. There are even rumors that they could sell Rafael Leao to Galatasaray, which could mean they won't be able to play offensively in the upcoming Europa League matches.
