And they think that children will use it okay, while as they grow up, they understand that we can see a lot from it that is not okay for us. The right way to explain to children is to allow them to play outside as they used to play in the past, then these things will lose their influence on children or strictness will be necessary, otherwise children learn a lot at a young age by misusing it. This law is in the right direction. Children below the age of 15 still have a long time they need to learn anything that is linked to social media. For now, there are more age appropriate things they can do.

If the parents have failed in their part to regulate the activities of children on social media and tbe overall Internet, it is never a bad idea for the government to step in to regulate what is gradually turning into a menace in the society.

We should not use Bitcoin as an excuse to prove why children of that age limit should be on social media. Parents who wish to teach their children Bitcoin can do so without exposing them to social media. It is just a gradual process for their age

Honestly I think teaching children about online safety and privacy is a better idea, most especially when scammers do use information that is being shared online to target victims. But the thing is that banning social media alone won't solve everything, parents still needs to guide their children, monitor their online activities and teach them the kind of information they should share online. Meanwhile, children can also learn meaningful things like privacy and bitcoin, but this learning or education should go in line with their level of understanding and age. Yeah, not that knowing about Bitcoin is a bad idea but the young ones gets to also understand there are other things that they need to know and can still achieve their goals, even if the young are thought to know about Bitcoin, some might grow up to make other choice, as its not compulsory for everyone to be part of Bitcoin, some brains might not be able to catch up to know about Bitcoin, teaching and allowing them to discover new things are necessary, the job of their guidance is to let them know the benefits and the disadvantage of their choice, that will also be of help to them.

I'm all for the bans. These days far too many people - both kids and adults - simply cannot stand not always being immediately 'in touch' with others. That is very bad as it discourages taking part in life going on around you or having down time to contemplate life in general.

Kids need to learn how to handle the idea of 'nothing too do' when they cannot be online or playing with others. Those of us from the 50's, 60's and 70's who grew up without the internet, limited TV and obviously no electronic gaming just found other things to do such as reading, wandering around looking at nature, getting a hobby (mine were mainly amateur science, model rockets & model planes), etc.

If parents are not mindful in bring their children up, they will go down the wrong path because most of them are into social media, once they are being given a phone and this will affect them negatively if there is zero guidance on them, as they can easily get manipulated into doing what will ruined their lives later. So, its the duty of the parents to discipline and ensure their children are being given access at some certain age for their own benefit, in my own perspective though.

Social media has really done a lot of harm to developing kids by exposing a lot of things that aren't meant for children who are below 18 years, thereby exposing them to things that they're not supposed to see at their age and further corrupting the minds of these growing kids.

It seems the government has already taken the mantle into its hands without the consent of their parent in these countries, Karl_3000 mentioned. I prefer it when parents are allowed to set app restrictions for their kids' devices. In fact, there are devices built specifically for kids to use. It has YouTube, Facebook, and some social media, but with webpage restrictions. How will kids learn when they can't access social media? How would their parents communicate with their children when at work without calls? Everything dont have to be calls, right?

If your plan is to make your child not want to see you again when they become adults, make them learn about Bitcoin after the Social Media ban now that they have no thing to do.

I’m not an advocate for teens on social media or anything, but this seems like a bit of overreach by the government. It should ultimately be up to parents whether or not their children should be able to use social media. It can be useful for clubs and activities. Even families use social media to communicate.

They don’t choose to watch the negative stuffs, social media contents are uncensored and unfiltered, so when you get in, you’re most definitely coming across both the negative and the positive, and we all know that we can’t unsee stuffs when we see them. There’s a kind of exposure that the social media gives to kids that they’re not ready for. Some underaged kids get into gambling, not because they saw their parents doing it but because they saw it on Facebook, TikTok or somewhere online. Already being so naive and vulnerable, they can be easily influenced by certain information they receive on social media, and the truth is that, no matter how much you try as a parent, you can’t always monitor your kid’s social media activities and presence.

Reading the reactions of everyone from various parts of the world in this forum, I am now beginning to have hope that the world still have space for morality. There has been several childhood stories we hear in my part of the world which always painted the western world as a place where children's right weighs above anyone else including their parents which makes it difficult for parents to discipline them. I dont have a problem with the idea but the truth is that I do not think it will be as effective as people expect. Majority of the kids of nowadays know how to get around age restrictions either by using someone else’s account or change their age.
