Hello,
I want to message someone anonymously on Telegram without anyone being able to track me. To do this, I opened an account on an exchange like CoinEx. I bought some Bitcoin with a credit card, then I bought a virtual number using Bitcoin and created a Telegram account with it. Now the person receiving the message goes to the legal authorities. The legal authorities ask Telegram to give them the phone number connected to the account. Then they reach the company selling the virtual number through the phone number. The company selling the virtual phone number gives the address from which it received the bitcoin to the legal authorities, and they reach the CoinEx exchange through the bitcoin address. The exchange then gives the identity of the credit card used to purchase the bitcoin to the legal authorities, and ultimately my identity is revealed. Right?

Thank you.

Yes.. as long as the funds passed through a centralized platform which you've done KYC, your identity would still be traced back to it. Meanwhile why would the person receiving the message go to legal authorities? Are you planning on scamming or blackmailing the person?

The first mistake you did is to make use of a centralized exchange for your P2P transaction, and this is why we need to know that our information is with these platforms and they can deliver it to any government agency upon request when it comes to security matters.

Secondly, this is more advisable: abstain from anything that has to do with fraudulence; any form of scam or illicit transaction should be totally avoided because they may trace it to you even from the transaction you made.

Correct. But it depends on the content of the message. If you're just sending nonsense, even the authorities won't take the time to follow up to the exchange.
Use SimpleX instead. https://simplex.chat

Your title is ambiguous. Is this about crypto tracking or identity tracking?

Now the person receiving the message goes to the legal authorities. The legal authorities ask Telegram to give them the phone number connected to the account.
Law enforcement do not just request user data without a valid reason, and they wouldn't also spend resources chasing after small scam. But if you are asking if such a sequence is possible, then yes! In 2024, due to regulatory pressure, Telegram changed its policy to allow sharing user data to law enforcement if they are approached with valid legal requests.

That said, what message do you intend sharing on Telegram? That information would go a long way in understanding what your worries are exactly. Telegram is also not your best choice for chatting anonymously.

If you want to avoid exchanges linking your card to your identity, you should've never used them in the first place. We have P2P options here and there. While it's not as convenience as using CEX, at least you can pick your own seller and how you proceed with the deal.

Then again, I'm not sure authorities will demand your details just because you scam $5 from someone as have been said above. Maybe they'll record it and log it in case file. Your reputation will definitely get tainted if you do that though. Especially when you're doing it openly on a forum like this.

You are asking if your identity can be revealed, just do away with anything that request for your personal details. That is when you can be sure that you can not be linked to it. Especially if it is related to something that the government want to investigate, it is very possible that you can be known. Also know that your IP can be known and be linked to you through Telegram.

The authorities will be ready to go through all these lengths to discover your identity if you committed a theft of a huge sum, using Bitcoin as a payment method through a centralized exchange.

So tell us, what crime are we looking at, is it the crime of theft or scam for the authority to go the length of discovering your identity when there are important and urgent things that they can attend to, not to discovering the identity of someone who want to messaged someone anonymously on telegram

Thank you.

Companies such as Telegram, the seller of the phone number, CoinEx will only share your information if you have done something illegal and authorities are looking for you.

Companies won't share their customer information just because someone asked.

Companies won't share their customer information just because someone asked.

They might.  Okay, not exactly if anyone asks, but if the request comes from a legitimate authority many companies will cooperate without much fuss.  Its none of their business whether you did something illegal or not - thats up to the courts to decide.

@hack3rcon, its probably not the brightest idea to ask for instructions online if you are already planning on doing something illegal.  Just saying.   Wink

Yes.. as long as the funds passed through a centralized platform which you've done KYC, your identity would still be traced back to it. Meanwhile, why would the person receiving the message go to legal authorities? Are you planning on scamming or blackmailing the person?

This is definitely a question to ask.

If you have scammed someone or are planning to, then rest assured that it will be easy for them to track you because once the security agencies meet the company and CEX for the information in their database concerning such transactions, they will give it to them. But other than that, I don't think anyone can walk in and ask and they will give it to them, since no security breach is involved or scam case.

The Department of Justice would like to acknowledge Tether for its assistance in effectuating the transfer of these assets.
Source: scam case

Even organized scams like this still get traced so rest assured you will be caught if you pass through any mean of identification on the process of your plans

Exactly, why would OP be having this kind of thought and question, I am not trying to accuse him of scamming but is it what he is discussing with his planning to do, while knowing what will happen if he does from the forum?

The question seems like a plan that had been set on ground, whether if he strike, it may backfire, so him trying to know the future is the reason why he comes on here.

If that's your plan OP, don't do it, it's never worth it.

It will be a long process I think depending on the complain and court orders but yes, it could end up revealing your identity as the purchaser and owner of what's used for buying bitcoin.

In the first place, using coinex and other similar exchanges is already the wrong way of concealing your identity because it's a centralized exchange.

What made you ask this OP, are you doing something like this that you're worried with?  Having those keywords only, telegram + credit card is already something for me.

Thank you.
From your story, this already points to something illegal ("identity reveal, tracking, illegal authority”).
Yes, from the moment you used a centralized exchange that you have KYC with and a credit card got involved too, your identity is already exposed, and there's no hidden place for you.

Are you asking because you want to/have run such a transaction or you're trying to track someone? If you are not trying to track someone because they scammed you, then better avoid any illegal activity that will lead to any legal authorities starting to dig you up.

You can use long or short way as you mention but if I got unknown message from unknown person, I will delete, block the number, and not get attract for the offers. Telegram full of scammers and they are ready to scam those who can't be careful and not research for the offers comes to them.

If you research from search engine, you will finds tons of that way so you can choose you want but you must not doing that because that can break the law and causing you in trouble.
