I think bitcoin quantum proof patience is paying out for the developers

I am just picturing in my mind what method the developers will adopt to protect against this quantum threat that has put panic in people. This may not be an easy task, but I am satisfied that the Bitcoin community is already working on ways to protect against the attack. It is good that we are not being taken unawares. From now until whenever the quantum threat becomes a real threat rather than mere speculation, discussions will be ongoing, more awareness will be created, updates on the progress will be received, and more helping hands will join.

This is Bitcoin; lots of big investors are involved. I believe that more companies will get involved to find a lasting solution to this particular problem until everything is fixed. This is great news to read. Now we can see that a solution is on the way.

I see it as good news also but TBH I wasnt worried about a threat from quantum computing
because there is no way something like this wasnt going to happen at some stage and there
is no way vested interests would sit on their hands and watch the possible threat get closer
and closer.

Quantum wasn't even built to become a threat, today's computers are weak and can't do some task and Quantum computers become the new development and since it's going to be too powerful to break cryptography, Bitcoin is definitely going to be affected. This was already discussed until they published Bitcoin article and it went viral, and you know Bitcoin as speculation, people are concern even me I do but we are still years apart from been able to become that threats like people discussed as if apocalypse is coming next year.

After reading the article I see that there isnt a mention about the Bitcoin developers, I guess
they will be working on their own approach?

Its also clear that 'the institutions' take both Bitcoin and the possible threat very seriously.

This is more like grants to support any group that is working on Quantum solutions which is great, if anyone is interested in the grants perhaps they will have to apply for support and if they see there is development in what they are working on, they may receive more than enough to continue the work, that's how I have seen other independent grants but the process is what I'm not sure, perhaps they will explain later on how the funds will be used to support developers.

I'm a bit doubtful about the awareness part. Maybe those who regularly engage in discussion on this forum or similar places will be able to tell what exactly the progress is, but social media will definitely get flooded with FUD-like articles or the opposite. I've seen many sensationalist headlines about quantum thread from a year or two while no actual hack has happened, for example. Even the number of phishing attacks are probably bigger than successful brute force at that point.

What I can learn from this is that bitcoin has gone a long way, bitcoin is what many companies are concerned about now.

Aside from this, the action of these groups allocating millions of dollars of funds for anti-quantum computers implies that the threat is serious.  People won't put a huge amount of money into the development of safety measures against quantum computers.

Quantum computers may not be an immediate threat to Bitcoin, but it will be a serious threat when it catches up with the latest security, so these companies are putting a lot of money to advance Bitcoin security against quantum threats.
