Any RTS game fan here?

Any RTS or real-time strategy games fan here? Like Command and Conquer, Red Alert, StarCraft, or World of Warcraft? I believe they have an RTS version of it, too; I just forgot the exact name.  

Electronic Arts, the guys who published Command and Conquer games (Generals, Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars, Red Alert), left these games to die (still available on Steam, but no more updates).
Luckily, there are still a few indie devs working on some RTS games. One of which is Dust Front RTS. It's an RTS game that's basically bringing back what's great in all of those old RTS games. The game isn't fully completed yet, but it does have a demo version on Steam (for the PC version).

I've played it on demo, and I can honestly say it sure is fun to play even if it's just a limited demo.
I had fun using the Dreadnought artillery; you feel the weight of their massive firepower when they bombard the enemies that are slowly crawling towards your base.

I've played it on demo, and I can honestly say it sure is fun to play even if it's just a limited demo.
I had fun using the Dreadnought artillery; you feel the weight of their massive firepower when they bombard the enemies that are slowly crawling towards your base.

Red Alert 1/2/3/Yuri's Revenge, Command & Conquer all season, Tiberium Sun, Company of Heroes, Rise of Nations, Rise of Legends, Warcraft 3 and then Reforged, StarCraft all seasons, Age of Mythology, and last but not least the GOAT of them all, Age of Empire 1/2/3/4/5 HD Definitive editions everything - Man I have played all of them. Some of them are like decades old. Some of them I grew up playing with. Even today, from time to time, I would download them and replay them all. Man, I miss them dearly. The last one I recently finished (again) was AOE 2 DE. All those countless hours of gameplays after school, really hits hard.

I have recently started playing, Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced. It was pure nostalgic feeling.

Thank you for the videos, I have taken a look. Seems nice. But I really hope someone would bring back those dead titles as Remastered like Ubisoft plans to do. I heard there would be a Remastered version of Assassins Creed 1, in the coming years. Can't wait to play it. But for now, I'm singing sea shanties and sailing toward the horizon.

Looks great. I never got to play these Assassin's Creed games and their series. I do like some RPG, but not so much if it's in a first-person or 3rd person POV. Makes me dizzy with that much moving around.

I don't remember the first game I ever played. But I remember having a little console (literally begged my parents to buy me one, lol), that had Super Mario in it (I would always die at the final boss). And then we had a Java enabled mobile phone, it had Assassins Creed, Prince of Persia and the classical snake game. As I grew up, I used to play game on my friends PC. We would play for hours until his parents started shouting. Ahhh I almost forgot about "Lord of the Rings" series. First mission where Gandalf would die fighting the fiery beast. It really was sad. 

Looks great. I never got to play these Assassin's Creed games and their series. I do like some RPG, but not so much if it's in a first-person or 3rd person POV. Makes me dizzy with that much moving around.

Right now, I'm downloading StarFields in the background, but man it's taking forever. I have super slow internet speed. I could download only about 33% of 100GB.

I tried StarField before. Not my cup of tea. It's like an RPG set on space/random planet.  What's worse is the planets themselves are a limited environment; you can't even go beyond the specific points of interest on it; there's like a barrier. LOL Plus, at the time I was playing it, the transition between going into a planet from space and vice versa wasn't immersive 'cause it's just a loading screen. Not sure if they've fixed that by now, though.
The only thing that stands out for me with Starfield is its ship building. Hands down, the greatest ship-building feature that I've ever encountered. You can really go to town with that feature. Makes the game a bit fun for me, but other than that, nah; I'd rather play No Man's Sky.

julerz12, you really is an expert at triggering people! You do know that right? Because right now, I instantly got triggered (over excited), after discovering that mod. Now my hand is literally itching to download and play those golden games. 

I was happy playing these few below, and "StarField" was in progress. But now that I have see this mod! You know exactly what happens. Those memories started flooding right away.

Saw a little gameplay, the mod gave more Red Alert vibe than Command and Conquer did.

Btw, have you personally tested them for compatibility? I do not see any installation guide on the mod page! And what about the sources? Do they have to come from Steam? I usually use Fitgirl or Dodi to download these classical games.

Yep, the underlying engine is still Red Alert 3. The mod did enhance it by adding new units and structures, and of course, bringing those familiar faces from the Generals and Zero Hour.
I think the only thing missing on this one is the utilization of naval combat or amphibious warfare. On Red Alert 3, you can build naval forces and structures; some players even focus on just those. So, the engine this mod is using is capable of that, but since Generals and Zero Hour don't have naval units and structures, let alone naval combat, there's none of that in this mod.
There are some modded maps that allow players to capture and use battleships, though. But that's about it.

Since both of us are into RTS games. Have you played Beyond All Reason (BAR)? It's a free, open source, multiplayer based RTS game. A friend of mine suggested it to me! Been playing for 2 days now, man it really feels great. I'm certain you'll like it too! What I really liked about them is their multiplayer mode, I can play with my friends, with or against them. I just...can't express it..but know that it's good.

Command & Conquer and Red Alert were a huge part of my childhood

Kinda sad that EA basically left the series behind because I still think there’s a market for a really good old-school RTS

Never heard of Dust Front before, but I’ll probably check it out

I’m also a big fan of older strategy games like Stronghold and Company of Heroes

These days I mostly enjoy strategy games with a strong story or campaign rather than pure multiplayer

Count me in! I'm a huge fan of classic RTS games - I've spent far too many hours playing C&C Generals: Zero Hour, Red Alert 2 and Warcraft III (probably the RTS WoW game you're thinking of!).

It's a shame that major publishers like EA have largely abandoned the genre in favor of battle royale and microtransactions, so it's great to see indie studios taking the plunge. I've also been following Dust Front RTS, and it's that powerful, deliberate feel of artillery and base defense that made the old RTS games so exciting. There's nothing quite like building a massive base and launching a full-scale offensive with proper tactical planning.

By the way, has anyone played or heard of Join Task Force?

Yep. I know of BAR, but I kinda don't like how the units look; that's why I don't play it. It's too cartoony that the units look like they're made of cardboard boxes.  The unit movements seem clunky, too. If I want similar aesthetics, I would just play Red Alert 3.

EA sucks as a publisher. LOL The very last iteration of Command and Conquer they've made, CNC4: Tiberian Twilight, is very much hated in the RTS community. It tanked for obvious reasons and, probably, the reason why EA left the entire series.

Company of Heroes is great, too. I love the game mechanics of it. Capturing strategic points to increase your resources rather than the common worker units in most RTS games.
As for Stronghold, I believe a new version is coming up for it: Stronghold 4.

You mean JTF? Joint Task Force? I've seen it before, but I haven't really played it.
I see it on Steam, too, with 90% very positive reviews, so it must be really good. Honestly, it looks interesting. Kinda like Counter-Strike but in an RTS mode.  I'm gonna give this a try.

How? Tiny? Well, I have been playing it for a few days now, and found it to be super difficult and super time consuming. Even with an easy AI difficulty, my base got obliterated. Not to mention, the game feels super slowww. Like slow as hell, it takes forever to construct and train units.

Also at the same time, you have to be highly organized, and time everything perfectly, otherwise the enemy just keeps coming destroys your building and you have to do it again.

Overall it becomes really fun when you play it with your friends. But the level of patient you need to play it (imaging training a tech 3, Juggernaut or behemoth unit - maybe the spellings are wrong). They just take forever to build and move from one place to another.

I prefer Red Alert 2 than 3. It feels more closer to Home!
