Holding is only boring because you are weak.
Boredom is your body begging you to sell so it can feel something again.
Everyone wants the chart to entertain them.
Green candles. Red candles. Greens again, reds again.
Dopamine. Dopamine. Dopamine.
The strong man is bored and does not flinch.
Sideways for six months. Nothing.
Down 50%. Nothing.
Twitter screaming that it's over. Nothing.
Because he already made the decision.
And a decision made once does not need to be made again every morning at 6 AM with hands shaking.
The ability to sit in silence while nothing happens for months and not flinch is what gets you win this game.
The market does not pay you for being clever.
It pays you for being still while everyone around you destroys themselves by moving.
Every coin you sold out of boredom was bought by someone who wasn't bored.
All you have to do is outlast the part of yourself that needs something to happen.
Once you stop flinching, holding becomes effortless.
Because holding may be boring, but it is never difficult.

The solution is simple, and it's..
After buying, don't just sit there and stare at the chart, your wallet balance in hopes of a miracle happening, get busy, and I mean really busy with other interesting stuff..
Example... - Go to the gym regularly - Hangout with friends - Play PS5 - Go watch a movie - As a business owner or salary worker, stay commited, set new goals after the previous one has been achieved, set a timeframe by which that goal must be reached. - Do good and live happy - Eat healthy, live healthy
This, plus some other interesting stuff I didn't mention, holding on to your bitcoin for a long term will be very easy, at a point, you might even forget you bought bitcoin. But in all, the most important thing is Ensure you have a good and reliable source of income.

Let's stop normalizing thinking that every now and then there should be a significant move or event for bitcoin. Bitcoin does not behave like that. It moves following its own pattern, and not to please its investors to prevent from feeling boredom. And boredom does not mean you have to do something, sometimes its best to leave it that way without doing something.
This is also the reason why bitcoin investment should only be a side hustle or side income because you can't expect to benefit from it regularly. Its still best to find a stable job that pays a regular income, so that you won't be anticipating quick results and income from bitcoin from time to time.

To be honest, maybe no one will believe me, but even if I say the current price and it falls even more, maybe it will not create any worries in my mind and I will not be afraid at all and will continue to buy aggressively according to my ability.
When I first joined this forum, I was thinking a lot and I thought that I would buy and sell within a short period of time, many times I was afraid of falling. But now I have no worries about Bitcoin and I am not worried about Bitcoin falling. Behind this belief is the hand of every person who is associated with this forum. Because I have always been more focused on gaining knowledge and have tried to read everyone's comments. After everyone's comments, I have developed so much faith in Bitcoin, that now I say and share with everyone that Bitcoin needs to go down to $100 or $10 again, because I believe that Bitcoin can recover again. The biggest reason I have developed such confidence is that I have always done everything with discipline.

There is also a matter of why you are holding bitcoin in the first place, there are people who buy with the hopes of selling once the is a slight increase in the price, for these people bitcoin staying within the same price range for a while, like maybe a couple of months will definitely lead to them getting bored and that boredom is a product of their initial motivations, it will be much harder for someone who's plan is to hold for as long as they need to bother with the price not moving too much within a particular period of time for them short term changes (or no changes) isn't what's going to move them.

This last cycle or literally this current one was sincerely not a fine one in my opinion well mostly based off my decisions. Nonetheless what can I do? You panic sells your gonna lose a lot plus regardless the more you Hodl the further you experience drops. Hodling requires a fine psychology. When you're monitoring your wallet even damn minute, it's probably a sign that you shouldn't have bought to Hodl in the first place. Most times I just tell people to assume they lost it even before it happens. ~snip

"The person gets stressed, doesn't sleep right, keeps looking at the phone nonstop, leveraged trying to recover, turns off the stop loss, then the person feels relieved because they didn't lose, still negative, then it starts getting profitable, doesn't want to get out because it's recovering the month's loss, starts getting negative again, can't take it anymore and gets out at a loss anyway, already thinking about leveraging more to get the loss back. This is simply addiction, there's not even a difference from a casino bet. This harms health and family relationship. This happens a lot unfortunately with people who want quick profit still with cryptocurrencies' volatility, that's why most people lose. Most of this problem would be solved if the person thought long term, even so nothing is guaranteed.

I was devastated by this thread. I often waver after holding on for three months. In the first month, I went through many cycles, both extreme declines and increases. In the second month, my heart started to feel anxious because I wanted a more aggressive move. Finally, in the third month, I finally wavered and decided to sell it because the trend of bots trying something with greater returns than just investing, and that's where my stupid, SAD quality comes in

Nice poem, and unfortunately I recognized myself in it. In this cycle I bought BTC at the wrong price just because I caved in to reading the news, checking charts every day and hype surrounding BTC. I bought it way above the price I originally wanted to buy it (I sold initial BTC in 2022. and was waiting right time to buy it again). Your text resonated with me well

You are bored and you want to sell your coins to feel less bored, why don't you switch it up?
turn it the other way around, buy more coins to be less bored, To me buying a property is exciting so let your boredom lead you to buy more coins instead of selling
Boredom is a natural thing it just depends of what you choose to make you happy or make you excited, you feed your dopamine in both positive and negative so let what you feed your dopamine be positive which is buying more.

It’s not always about boredom though m8. In a world where debt has reached an all time high and purchasing power is at an all time low some people who are holding and holding and holding are just trying to survive and sometimes forced to sell in order to carry on. It sucks. I have been that person before and I hope to not be that person again but I can tell you for certain that it’s not out of boredom. It’s out of sheer teeth grinding moves, because most assuredly you know that anyone who has been in the game for this long doesn’t want to move from their position out of boredom, many a time it’s because their hand has been forced due to their current situations. Could be medical, or financial obligations, maybe their family member needs help and they came to the rescue, shoot maybe the person even needed help to dig themselves out of a hole. At the very least at the end of the day someone can be extremely thankful for the Bitcoin that they do own. And even if they are forced to sell it they cannot be stopped from stacking more, earning more, and rebuilding, as long as time is on their side.

This is solid advice. Many people that found riches all of a sudden end up being more depressed than before because they suddently realize they have no drive but also become isolated because they can't reveal to their friends their true lifestyle because they wouldn't trust them that much. This results in isolation even from family at certain circumstances. Your principle is good, make a plan. It can be different for each person. But I'd also say that spending a bit of BTC isn't a taboo as well if it makes you happy and fulfills some of your goals, or all of them.

The valuable advice given by the OP in the form of a poem will work like a medicine for us weak investors and holders. Those of us who think that the market will be temporarily disrupted, i.e. when a red candle starts, think that the market will probably end in a day or two. Yes, they are the weak-hearted investors and it is very, very difficult for them to hold for a long time. The dopamine in their brain neurons is always giving them the stimulus or release that always creates pressure to sell their holdings. Those who have a weak heart cannot tolerate this release of dopamine and sell their holdings and they start regretting it in the future. But those who are not weak but have a patient and strong mind, basically tolerate this release of dopamine and keep their investments for a long time as per their plan. And finally, only because of patience and a tough attitude, they benefit and become successful.

People nowadays, especially younger adults, are said to be boredom intolerant. Although researches are generally linking this with internet or smartphone use, this post got me thinking: is it possible this would also extend to markets including, but not limited to, Bitcoin?
Could it be that this growing repulsion to boredom due to technology would cause many to buy and sell Bitcoin prematurely or without much thinking? And would this possibly affect Bitcoin's volatility in the future?

Holding is only boring because you are weak.
Boredom is your body begging you to sell so it can feel something again.
If they see the holding ROIs over past years which are very good, they will not see holding boring but interesting instead. https://casebitcoin.com/Everyone wants the chart to entertain them.
This ROI chart over years can be very entertaining and stimulating for people to become investors and holders. Green candles. Red candles. Greens again, reds again.
If people focus on investment, and holding, they will not use short timeframe chart, but this yearly candle chart will be their favorite one. It has more green candles than red ones and it can help investors easily to calm down and feel very comfortable with holding. https://charts.bitbo.io/yearly-candles/There is only one Bitcoin project, and the Bitcoin market is the same for everyone, welcome everyone, it's only individual differences among people by their stances and practice. Down 50%. Nothing.
People can feel calm if they know this one, and they will have better preparations from financial management to risk management by knowing this. Bitcoin historical corrections from all time highs.

Hmm, with this, I agree that you stay away from the noise and just stick to your principles and beliefs. Let not the market decide your faith.
What gets me in this is the opportunity cost given to us. Like, is HODLING always going to be the optimal one? I don't think so. That's where there's another opportunity to have and to earn. What you do with your capital is what's going to haunt you.
Then again, if you believe you have it and believe in the principles, you wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't even see hodling as boring. For me, o see it as conservative. It's only a safer way of staying off risk. Those who truly understand the historical data of Bitcoin know that whatever moves, dips or spikes it makes is merely corresponding to a circle. This is why anyone who isn't investing with money they can temporarily forget shouldn't have any business investing in Bitcoin. As it's ATM, I still expect price to dip because I perceive 2026 as a bear season; except the circle got disrupted last year. What I've been able to do is have two different investment approaches on this. There's a wallet for trading and there's one for hodling. I love trading.

If you do it "aggressively" maybe you are not doing it well. I think that apart from the hope, the patience, and other virtues needed to be a good Bitcoin holder, what the OP and other members who posted here mean is that you should live your life, be busy, happy, and perhaps forget about your holdings for a while. If you can't detach yourself from the constant fluctuations and feel an urge to buy aggressively when you believe that the price is low, perhaps you're losing too much time and giving too much importance to the price, contrary to what we are being advised here.

The last line, though, "never difficult". Easy to say when it is not your money that is losing value at 3am while you are refreshing CoinMarketCap and your family asking you why you "put money into internet money".😁 There's a boredom point that is definitely true. People don't sell because they're foolish, they sell because it is physically wrong to do nothing. But that one line really got to me, every coin that I sold because I was bored, was bought by someone who wasn't. This is the true way that wealth is moved in this market. No smart trades. With one guy panicking and another guy yawning.

First of all, the main reason why some investors see hodling as boring is that there is no good understanding of Bitcoin, and the reason for investing is to make some profit in a specified time. When it gets to the expected time and the price of Bitcoin is different from what was speculated, it becomes uninteresting, and there is a sudden loss of patience. The major challenge people have in hodling Bitcoin is trying to predict the price of Bitcoin and having unrealistic expectations. Hodling requires the good development of one's mindset, knowing that Bitcoin is a long-term investment and not expecting the price of Bitcoin to be at a particular amount in a given time.
