Perhaps I am wrong and there are still cultures free of bias, but in the world in which we live, people are generally valued for what they have, or for the appearance they show about what they supposedly have, than for the means by which they obtained their wealth. Sociologists or anthropologists (I can't remember) once explained that it is an adaptive heuristic, because since it is impossible to know enough about most of the people we meet throughout life to get an objective idea about their value, we replace this assessment with that of their wealth, which is much easier to quantify.
Therefore, I agree that the change proposed by the OP is not something that can be undertaken from the Bitcoin world as he would like. This change is too deep and rooted in human culture in my opinion for a tribe to easily challenge it, which does not mean that it is not a laudable ideal but, as I say, difficult to achieve.

How about we reverse it in this manner in Bitcoin world, if you live in tiny/small house alone (typical of nomads), live lowly lifestyle but have large profitable business or benefit society alot possibly without charge, can easily live selfishly yet choose to be poor, then you are greatly respected.
This is an ideal life for those people who loves a simple life and they showed how responsible they are with the way they live but not all people are build this way, with so many material temptations and greed and the invitation to live a life to the fullest its hard to choose and live that kind of life. Successful businessmen and entrepreneurs needs to show their materials gains so they build the trust of the business community and partners with these type of businessmen. I like the idea you presented but its just unrealistic in a world full of deception.

Nothing stops you from being what ever you want to be as long as you have the detention and resources you need to become or achieve what you want, and also people derive motivation from different things, in our society, there are people who are rich, they have successful business and company but yet live a very conservative lifestyle, you won't even know that they are so wealthy when you see them in public place unless you are being told, yet they help people secretly. Is not every capitalist that actually likes to shows off wanting to be feared and respected by people, some of them prefer to lay low and live a simple private lifestyle, you can still draw motivation from those kind of capitalist.

Society teaches what people what they want to learn and it's the responsibility of the people to accept what the society makes a norm. It should never be about Bitcoin but about what everyone should practice. I don't care what people are doing to be respected in the society, if I need it it's because I want it and I don't do it because of what people expected from me, I prefer to have a life that will favour me instead of pushing for what everyone is going. I hope you know that there are Bitcoin holders that lives capitalist lifestyle, they love to be worship, they like respect and they don't value anyone that is below their standard and you can't say because they HAVE Bitcoin, hold Bitcoin they should do as you want. It's not a Bitcoin status, it's a human thing, people will leave and do how they want whether you like it or not.

Fair enough, I honestly do align my thoughts with what you said because alot if people i have seen accumulating resources doesn't even do it for the respect but just for the idea of being financially capable, independent and are able to provide for there future generations, this is enough motivation for me. Borderline I think most capitalist line of thought is gathering resources to provide a stable environment for there next generations and for me this is the biggest motivation and I feel alot of people can relate.

Cultural differences would always be a measure reason why certain lifestyle are adopted and valued. That’s not the case for those of us in the Bitcoin community, privacy remains a vital reason why we enjoy Bitcoin so much, the decentralized finance along with other benefits that Bitcoin offers. The life we live after that is unknown to the rest of the public which is the more reason why these forms of government isn’t necessary. We ride as we please and that’s what Bitcoin brings to antagonize what we know as the societal norms.

It's harder living like a poor person when perhaps you have it enough in your bank account, it's even way more harder when people know that you have it in money but not in properties, you even loss respect. If you decide to live low-key but have many Bitcoin stored, who knows you have such except your colleagues who are Bitcoiners. You only get the respect from your colleagues but not the entire society.

I think that replacing one status symbol is not going to solve the problem in this current system people admire wealth but making a minimalistic lifestyle the new standard for respect is going to create the same problem as in different from but I think people should be respected for their honesty integrity and their positive impact not because they live in bigger or smaller houses. Bitcoin encourages financial Independence and also personal responsibility, rather than asking people to get respect for their wealth or visible modesty it should be healthy for us to value the basic thing like character and meaningful contributions.

I bet that many bitcoin holders doesn't have that much in their bank accounts but look at their portfolios, it's exploding in gains. I think that many holders have in common and as we say to others to DCA, they're putting where their mouth is. Accustomed to frugal kind of living for the sake of accumulation. And as we DCA, it takes a lot of patience, sacrifice and delayed gratification to focus on that goal. We don't buy so much material things and before being respected by others, you'll have to give respect to yourself because you know yourself better than anyone else. How about we reverse it in this manner in Bitcoin world, if you live in tiny/small house alone (typical of nomads), live lowly lifestyle but have large profitable business or benefit society alot possibly without charge, can easily live selfishly yet choose to be poor, then you are greatly respected.
That is not the definition of poor, it's modest living.

So people work hard to have this things in order to be respected This might not be the general view of rich people. At least I know so many wealthy people who prefer to live modest lives. It's natural for rich folks to get respect and attention, and there is nothing wrong in aspiring to be wealthy. That is what most "barely rich" people do not understand. It's assets that they might spend a lot on, but not liabilities. Getting a lambo is a weak move, and you should not do that at all; it is the product of the social media age, and you should not get those liabilities. When a rich person buys a huge mansion, they are not buying a liability; they could sell that mansion and make a profit. They are not even doing it straight up; some of them actually get it under their corporation's name and show it as an expense to lower their tax. You have to learn the difference between an asset and a liability. All those drinks, blinks, cars, and whatever they are liabilities and do not do that; get stuff that is assets to grow your size.

I think it all down to each individuals personality and each person has to choose what they are more comfortable with. It's true people should not be respected because of where they live and the kind of lifestyle they live but also it has no difference when people who live in small tiny houses are respected, I think it they are both being judged based on what we see. Ok what about someone who lives in a big flashy house and lives a luxury lifestyle and also run a successful business and still want to be useful and contribute a lot to the society? How will they be viewed then?
To me I think a person's personality shouldn't matter, whichever way they prefer to live their lives they are free, they just need to also try and be useful to the society in one way or another because what matters is how they contribute positively to the society.
A perfect society is one where everybody receives the same respect from society, keeping their wealth aside, whether they are rich or not. But it's very difficult to build such an environment in any society or place in the world, as we have a very strange mindset as a society. If we take a deep look at our surroundings, some specific people receive great respect, but they never face any disrespectful behaviour. these specific people have only one thing or one fact that makes them superior in their society, their financial stability and their strong relations with the people or government. I deeply, in fact clearly observe this fact in my society where people with financial instability or with low income have no respect anywhere in the country. So, this is very clear to understand that people have no respect or disrespectful attitude its only based on their wealth. i think in this scenario the role anybody plays positive or negative, does not have a significant and complete impact and we cannot completely ignore it. But if a person has all the luxuries in his lifestyle and also has rich relations. If he commits any crime he will not receive the same punishment that a lower middle class or low budget person will receive, this discrimination is very difficult to remove from any society.

As a result of the capitalist system, most of the wealth in the world is concentrated in the hands of a limited number of elites. As a result, the poor are being pushed further into poverty. The value of labour is decreasing due to inflation. The rich manage everything in such a way that every decision must go in their favour.
Consider Bitcoin as a different system where you will move through an independent financial system where you will continue to accumulate this digital asset. In reality, as you will acquire wealth, you will hold Bitcoin to create decentralized wealth.
In society, those who are hardworking have higher status because they acquire wealth through hard work, but lazy people cannot keep up with productive activities. Literally, wealth is created because of a cyclical movement. No wealth lasts long, no matter how hard you try. Maybe you give the wealth to the poor or spend it on your needs or you lose the wealth.

Yes I agree that people always want to acquire wealth and other properties that are very expensive because that is what often being respected. It’s actually a good thing and I feel that is what pushes some people to work hard to achieve those goals things just to attain that status and be respected just like you’ve said it. Now you are saying bitcoin culture should do the opposite of that by giving more respect to those who live simply lifestyle but still build what is actually big and useful to other even though it could give them money but they decide to help by even giving it for free sometimes. That’s actually a fair preference. And I also think bitcoin already has something like that already. let take the forum as a case study, a lot of people here respect developers that create free tools, write open source code or create value without flexing their luxury. I consider living below your means and staying productive a smart idea because it actually fit low time preference and self sovereignty. Lastly let me just say it as it is, status doesn’t always come from wealth or where you live. but competence, honesty, integrity, reliability, and good contribution is what earn your respect in many communities just like this forum. A lot of users have contributed a lot an they are being respected for that regardless of their wealth and where they live.

OP, what exactly are you trying to talk about, it really doesn't make much sense to me. Where did you get the idea that you have to be poor or live like you are poor to be respected, that is ridiculous, what do you even mean when you attribute this weird idea to the "Bitcoin world".
There is nothing wrong in working hard to become rich. Capitalism is also not as bad as you make it out to be, that is why it is the most widely adopted economic and political system around the world. You should stop with the crazy idea of promoting poverty as being noble and wealth as being selfish and terrible.
This is the worldview of a poor man who explains his inability to live a better life, by the desire to live more modestly. But everyone should understand that you need to live your only life wisely. If someone in life is given the chance to be born with a golden spoon in their mouth, why, explain to me, should they live modestly and save on everything? Live wisely, yes, according to your capabilities. To live without vanity and not to rise above those who were not given such a right to live better. However, even a poor person always has the right to choose, study, and develop in order to get on the same level of development with successful people and not accept the fact that his ancestors were poor for centuries.

I want to live with plenty of money and assets because I’d be useless without them—after all, all my needs must be paid for with money. I also push myself to work hard and smart to earn money so that my family and I can live without going hungry. My philosophy is: what’s the point of showing off if it puts the owner at risk? I don’t want to live in a state of anxiety over the possessions I own. It’s better to live a simple life than to appear wealthy but have my safety and comfort threatened.

Why should you follow a poor lifestyle if you are wealthy? It doesn't make sense to me. I'll also tell you one thing. If you live a poor lifestyle but benefit society a lot, you'll simply suffer and in the end, no one will appreciate your efforts. Just look at multi billionaire businessmen who don't appreciate their own workforce, they are still praised by the society (Jeff Bezos for example and his attitude towards amazon workers). No, my opinion is to enjoy the life at its fullest. You can do good things but your own self should be the priority because in the end, your good efforts will barely be appreciated.

Bitcoin itself doesn't need any type of lifestyle to begin with. As long as you know how to invest and have some money to put into it, no matter what, you can have BTC. Whether you are nomads, minimalist, entrepreneur or anything. It has nothing to do with it. No specific lifestyle for BTC. This could motivate Bitcoiners who choose such bitcoin-compatible economic ideal to work hard and be productive since lots of people were programmed or taught to respect people who pile up riches for themselves in fiat world, which motivates them to work hard to be rich.
Well, it's just how the world works. It's really like that just because we see it initially. Like people who look respectable are the ones respected well. It's how you portray yourself to have some kind of respect coming back.

A thread title like that suggests that capitalism is wrong - that might be somewhat true but ultimately it's the best of the worst options. It created the richest economy in the world for over 75 years and while we can clearly see that bits of it are broken, the alternatives were much worse. Just look back at the cold war which was basically a showdown between centralized government power in the form of communism versus free market capitalism. The latter won, because for all the preaching about how we should all share equally and work together, humans are just not built that way. There will always be some who are more competitive and innovative than others, it seems fair that they should be rewarded which is what usually happens.

I don't think everyone will choose the same kind of life, some people like to live simply, while others want a good house or a comfortable life as a result of their hard work. So it would not be right to give someone more respect just because they live a low cost life, I would say that respect should come from how a person has earned their wealth and what they contribute to society. Someone's lifestyle may be a personal choice but it would not be right to make it the norm for everyone.

In a typical capitalist setting, the more properties you pile up for yourself the more you are respected (or even worshipped) .. So people work hard to have this things in order to be respected
How about we reverse it in this manner in Bitcoin world, if you live in tiny/small house alone (typical of nomads), live lowly lifestyle but have large profitable business or benefit society alot possibly without charge, can easily live selfishly yet choose to be poor, then you are greatly respected.
This could motivate Bitcoiners who choose such bitcoin-compatible economic ideal to work hard and be productive since lots of people were programmed or taught to respect people who pile up riches for themselves in fiat world, which motivates them to work hard to be rich.
Depending on the angle you're looking from, both ideas are right. In many societies, people respect you based on the assets they can see and that's why people chase these assets very hard. But the reality is you shouldn't choose to live like a monk giving everything away, people will praise you but abandon you when you need them. It's entirely a different case in the Bitcoin world. You're not hiding poverty because you're not poor. You're intentionally staying low, using your wealth to create more wealth and not just consuming it. The idea is to get wealthy and still stay humble.
