This could motivate Bitcoiners who choose such bitcoin-compatible economic ideal to work hard and be productive since lots of people were programmed or taught to respect people who pile up riches for themselves in fiat world, which motivates them to work hard to be rich.
I do not respect those people who the OP post about, I see them as greedy parasites, I dont want to be like them either. We have a saying here Contentment is wealth. Life is all about balance. The opposite of being greedy is being content.
I am content to be able to accumulate Bitcoin at my own pace for myself and my family and with the help of Bitcoin I have achieved a very healthy work life balance for a more balanced life. Yea I could work more and be a slave again to the business class but there would be an imbalance and life is way too short for that.

Why should you follow a poor lifestyle if you are wealthy? It doesn't make sense to me. I'll also tell you one thing. If you live a poor lifestyle but benefit society a lot, you'll simply suffer and in the end, no one will appreciate your efforts. Just look at multi billionaire businessmen who don't appreciate their own workforce, they are still praised by the society (Jeff Bezos for example and his attitude towards amazon workers). No, my opinion is to enjoy the life at its fullest. You can do good things but your own self should be the priority because in the end, your good efforts will barely be appreciated.
You know one thing with the society, if you have billions in your name and they don't see that millions on you, they are not going to value you, they will not respect you and they may see you as someone that is poor when in fact you can take care of them. The world functions when they see you have something and the better way you can demonstrate it is when you show them that you have it and that's the only way you can penetrate through plenty of opportunities. I don't care what the world thinks, if I have money I will live the life as it fit my financial status, if I have the money I will get the best life for myself and I have nothing, I will not pretend that I have an asset. The way OP describe wealthy people should leave like they have nothing, the same way some people fake life, they don't have what they claimed they have, that's what the common social media is about today, fake lifestyle.

In a typical capitalist setting, the more properties you pile up for yourself the more you are respected (or even worshipped) .. So people work hard to have this things in order to be respected
Take a chill pill now, the goal is to be financially free (financially independent) but not to oppress others or try to be greedy by thinking like the capitalist. There isn't going to be any difference if the Bitcoin wealth generation turn out to be the same like those of the capitalist economy. In searching for financial freedom your focus should be on investing into yourself both financially and in education so as to be well spoken and financially backed then you render help to others instead of forcing your authority on them as the capitalist will do. Greediness should not be your motivation for investing in Bitcoin, seeking for respect and admiration shouldn't be your trigger but instead you should be moved by wanting to impact life as that is a better reason for wanting to be financially bouyant.

I bet that many bitcoin holders doesn't have that much in their bank accounts but look at their portfolios, it's exploding in gains.
I think that many holders have in common and as we say to others to DCA, they're putting where their mouth is. Accustomed to frugal kind of living for the sake of accumulation.
And as we DCA, it takes a lot of patience, sacrifice and delayed gratification to focus on that goal. We don't buy so much material things and before being respected by others, you'll have to give respect to yourself because you know yourself better than anyone else.
It is not even about frugal living, it is just about getting a system and working on it. I grew up with the philosophy where you put 10% of your salary on the side, and while I did sell most of my investments over the years due to bad things happening, at least I had something on the side. In that case, you are free to spend 90% of your salary on anything you want, you can literally burn it on fire, doesn't matter. That's not the point, it's yours. Spend it any way you wish, on smart things or stupid things. However, if you save 10% of every dollar you make, and then invest it smartly, then you will retire at age 40 to 45. My uncle did it, and he retired at 48, so it is not really a bad idea, and you could definitely get great wealth out of it in time.

There’s actually nothing wrong with becoming wealthy but if your motivation is mainly to impress others or gain more respect, you will probably never feel satisfied because there will always be someone with more. Bitcoin gives people the opportunity to build wealth on there own terms. What they do after achieving that freedom is a personal choice. Personally I would rather see bitcoin encourage independence than to create another competition over who has the biggest portfolio.

A capitalist setting has nothing to do with respect because respect is earned and not demanded, you don't use money to control respect. In a general sense, respect is attributed to where value lies, regardless of how much you have or what position you occupy. When one attains wealth without value, there is no volume to how much respect he/she deserves, wealth and properties are materialistic but respect is a value. You can work hard for riches and properties which is a necessity but there is no use to your wealth when there is no value. So value and wealth are both important to attain true respect.

This is a common motivation of those people who have been living poor and have grown up with a dream. And that dream is to make their success a noise and to show people who belittled them before that they're wealthy and they've made. I think when they have grown mature enough, that kind of motivation will change, and they're not living to impress these people that done them wrong. Bitcoin gives people the opportunity to build wealth on there own terms. What they do after achieving that freedom is a personal choice. Personally I would rather see bitcoin encourage independence than to create another competition over who has the biggest portfolio.
Until now it gives the opportunity to make people become wealthy in the future. Those who were early to buy it and held it for a long time, they can now sit in their profits and no need for any motivation because they've got the financial freedom. And us who are continue to buy it as of this moment, that time will come too but we have to endure all of the challenges financially and mentally before reaching to that point.

This is true in many cases but I think it is not just about wealth, but also about the perspective of society. Sometimes people respect someone not for their wealth, but rather based on how they acquired it and how they use it, I would say honesty is the main reasons for gaining respect. How about we reverse it in this manner in Bitcoin world, if you live in tiny/small house alone (typical of nomads), live lowly lifestyle but have large profitable business or benefit society alot possibly without charge, can easily live selfishly yet choose to be poor, then you are greatly respected.
Of course living simply can be a good personal decision, but it is not right to see it as the norm for everyone. Someone can be responsible even if they live in a big house, while someone can live in a small house and not make any positive contribution to society. So it is not the lifestyle, but the values and work of a person that are more important. In my opinion, the biggest lesson of Bitcoin is the opportunity to make independent decisions

I don't think everyone will choose the same kind of life, some people like to live simply, while others want a good house or a comfortable life as a result of their hard work. So it would not be right to give someone more respect just because they live a low cost life, I would say that respect should come from how a person has earned their wealth and what they contribute to society. Someone's lifestyle may be a personal choice but it would not be right to make it the norm for everyone.
That is true but things has changed nowadays, you are respected based on the properties that is in your possession, no body is concerned about how you make your money these days what is important is that you have the money. Gone are those days were people where respected due to simply hardwork and earning a good living, no matter how low the work seems to be. These days people give more attention to what is in your pocket rather than asking them and that the money comes about. There is a big moral decay which has taken place in our society. Until society gets to a point that we look beyond what a person has acquired and ask the means through which such properties are made , society will continue to have problems in terms of the moral uprightness of any society.

Bitcoiners know the value of Bitcoin and how it impacts and enables sovereignty and independence, but when you invest in Bitcoin for selfish reasons such as to belong to a class in the society or because others are doing so, there isn't much difference between the person who strives to quantify wealth as physical possession they can brag with, and you owning Bitcoin to brag with to others. When you own Bitcoin, you become in charge of your time and destiny and your living environment or what people say won't really get to you because there's a goal and maturation period you are looking out for which of course changes your perspective on life and wealth and society mindset.

So, if the motivation to act in capitalism is greed, what about a different kind of social proof to be a powerful catalyst for action in a Bitcoin economy?
A new hierarchy of statuses. And it could be more revolutionary than any change in monetary policy. Status is the hunger. Money is just the language it learned to speak. So, at the moment, money is the proxy. Change what confers status and you change behavior downstream without needing to force anyone. The most effective social engineering that is available. And yet it does not involve legislation or violence, so no one care.
In your model, the one who builds a business and benefits the entire society, resides in a small house, and opts for simplicity, is respected. Who, then, says what is "beneficial to society"? That single question has ended more communal value systems than any external threat ever did. In capitalist economy, the market determines value by the price. It does not care and it may miss, but it is decentralized and automatic. Once you start using “societal benefit” as a measure, there has to be an agreement on what that means. Consensus is costly and often ends up being controlled by the most influential person. You may end up creating the very dynamics you are looking to change.
Bitcoin is actually a partial solution to this. The value in the Bitcoin network is in a computation that can be audited by anyone. What if the status system you are talking about worked on a similar basis? Not "trust me I am contributing" but "here is the verifiable proof of what I built, maintained, gave away." The blockchain's transparency provides a certain form of accountability which is not present in the traditional economy. Proof of work is an impossible to fake feat. It is easy to establish the look of humility in person, but it is harder to make up a record of contribution on-chain.
The accumulation of resources has been a sign of life for hundreds of thousands of years, even prior to the advent of capitalism. Squirrels hoard. Ants build surplus. Would a fox cease to prey on the corn if he were told about supply side economics?
