Would you believe me if I said that focusing too much on stats would just make you lose more?

Here is the logic. Those stats are already there, and everyone can analyze them. I believe most of us, or the public, would probably have the same analysis on the line. But in reality, most of us still lose in the long run. So, it does not make sense if we only look at the stats. It is like saying to ourselves that it is okay to work hard analyzing everything, but we still end up losing.

Actually I don't believe on this kinds of things that focusing too much on the stats would make us lose more. Because I personally believe that analysis or any other strategy cannot make us win at gambling. In some cases, analysis increases our probability, but ultimately all decisions are in the hands of our luck.

And since doing analysis increases our probability a little, I won't say here that if we follow analysis or more stats, we will have a higher tendency to lose. Rather, we will have a lower tendency to lose.

I cannot say I am a successful sports bettor, but I can tell that sometimes it is our own greed that makes us lose. An example would be always trying to get the maximum odds.

The odds have a very large factor on how we could win games. Say x1.80 to x1.90 have spreads of -5 to -10; it's better if we go to the lower spreads and let the odds go down to x1.70 to x1.50. It's not a 100 percent win, but there's a higher chance we might win it.
When it comes to team or player statistics, I always check the favorite's past games. If they are really that good even against other teams/players, or if it's all just a lucky win. This is why being a fan of the sport you will bet for comes in very handy. If you know the game, the players, the coaches, it is easier to place a bet without even going deep with analysis.

This has been discussed recently, but probably you can gain from this thread. People that want to make profits from gambling either waste some money on gambling or waste huge amount of money on gambling before coming back to their right senses or they later become addicted to gambling and which is not good.

You’re very correct, many people go into gambling because they think it’s the easiest way to make money. At first, some people may lose little money and  then they would later realize that it’s not a business, and then stop totally. But others would continue chasing after losses, because they believe that one big win can help them recover everything that they’ve lose. Which is the beginning of the problem. The truth is that gambling isn’t a reliable source to make income. If the major reason why a person go into gambling is  because they want to make profit consistently, then they may end up losing more money than they expected.

That constant hope of winning can lead to addiction, which can affect the person’s financial status, mental health and relationships. Anyone who chooses to gamble should only be for entertainment or fun and only uses money  that they can afford to lose.  Once a person start depending on gambling for survival, the chances of ending up into more bigger problem is high.

Every strategy about gambling is not that easy and that’s why people keep saying the entirely gambling is all about luck, any strategies that you try to use either in sportbet or whatever it has been implemented for long time. There’s two friends of mine who always use the same strategy to bet whenever there is games, one is always luck by winning most of his bet, but the other one has never win single bet ever since he started playing the bet.

This is the reason why I said using the same strategy with the person that always winning his bet that doesn’t guarantee to have the same results with the person, and not everybody understand that, they think the gambling is all about having the knowledge and experience of the game prediction only.

Focusing on statistic should be the easy strategy  to predict sportbet, but however sportbet is not that easy to win regardless of the strategy you apply. actually statistics can be a remedy for you to win if their statistics is correct, but I cannot assure you fully that statistics or you following a statistics can make you to be constantly experiencing winning in the gambling, because even that is a remedy or a solution that will give people constant winning through gambling especially in sportsbet, many more of the gamblers won't have been complaining of losing in gambling every time, trying to say is that winning in gambling should be something that come from luck, and the losing can be sure because it is a game of predictions

No.  It can make one sometimes miss some much important factors but it is unfounded that focusing on stats will make the bettor lose more.

Stats are there to show the weakness and strength of the team.  From there one can draw certain prediction with basis.  It is much safer to predict an outcome with basis than one that has no basis at all.

Knowing the variables that can change the outcome of the game can give the bettor a huge advantage.  Obviously one can use the variable if the bettor found it to compare and answer the what-if questions that can change the outcome of the game.

If you think games can be manipulated through stats because it is visible to everyone, including the bookmakers, then you dont understand how stats help bettors. Stats are there to help bettors make the right selection of odds. But most bettors mistake it for what guarantees a win. If you bet on sports and dont watch the sports you bet on, there is a huge chance that you'll struggle to confidently decide which odds to pick for that match. I bet on sports, and I prefer to analyse using live games rather than stats.

You have your own way in determining what is profitable to you as you gamble. But are we profitable mostly in the long run? it's only two, break even or lose. If we make some profit, it's not a lot. Unless in special cases that we've won so much but that's not from sports betting and I am thinking about hitting the jackpot in some huge multipliers in slots. Sticking to the sports that you mostly love is a good strategy that you might become profitable. Don't bet to various sports that you have no knowledge with, tips like this doesn't have to be too fancy when we can use our common sense.

Reading data is one thing; interpreting it is another thing. The stat may be there for all to see, but not all can look at the data and use it to make the right decision.
For example, if I look at the stats of a team that has scored at least two goals in their past eight games, that would mean that team usually scores at least a goal in all their games. But if you look harder, you may see that all the teams they have played in that period are weak teams, so how do they perform when they meet a bigger team? Do they still score goals?
So using stats is not as easy as it seems. Merely looking at it won't give you the idea.

But then, stats don't always work. A team that scores at least a goal every game for 30 matches might not score a goal in their 31st match. Or they may lose at home to a relegation team that has 28 odds to win.
That is why you need your intuition and luck, together with your knowledge (stats) to win in gambling, especialy sports betting.

So it means these gambling platforms are intended to put these stats right away on every match so gamblers can see and use them, and it will increase their chances of losing? I don't think so.
Maybe it is really on you how you analyze them.
Because for me, the fee the book takes on every bet means very few people stay ahead long term; maybe it's better to treat it as a hard match to beat rather than a solvable one.

To minimize losses, it would be better for us to analyze and compare the risks that will be faced. My strategy is that I will not bet with analysis if the risk is too big. Odds of 1.5 are unreasonable even though the team I analyzed is already superior. The minimum risk of 1.7 is worth betting on with commensurate results. However, if the favorite team is playing, no matter how big the risk is , keep your bets healthy.

I'll definitely not because stats is the major tool or data that better preserves a means to analyse the games when predetermining what the games outcome would be. The stats holds almost the points keys that describes the roles of every key roles of the event.
Past record's are also documentaries that enlightens player's about future outcome possibilities by referencing the team past record's.
The stats maybe as necessary in analysing the games but it's always not guaranteed your prediction no matter the strategy employed.

If you only focused on stats alone, that means you are betting blindly. That makes you lose the chances to win against the sportsbook's odds. Statistics are already given, that's up for you to interpret and use it for your winning advantage.

My point is, there are a lot of factors to consider if you want to secure profitable outcome. Statistics is just one of it. Strict bankroll management and emotional control and discipline once effectively performed, it will increase your winning probability, aside from picking the right bet and betting with the most profitable team or player.

I agree with you to some extent, but there is no way we would stop checking stats. I know many gamblers don't look at stats when betting yet I feel it's necessary to look at the stats because it helps gamblers to know how form a team is and also to know how Thier previous meetings end. All this information matters a lot even though it doesn't work all the time, because I could remember how many times I lost my game just because I didn't look at stats before betting.

If you want to become profitable you need to be checking stats before betting, don't bet blindly. We are know that gambling is a game of luck yet it is important to know what you're betting not just by guesting.

I also read that some bettors use AI to make predictions, but records so far prove that they have not been too lucky with this approach. Sports betting may require luck, but it is also skill-based. Lately statistics haven't been working very well. Football is so dynamic right now and a lot of random things are happening, with small teams beating big teams, and favorite national teams getting eliminated by teams without much footballing history, like Germany and Paraguay. Anyway, I think relying on stats gets in the way more than it helps, and it's better to focus on the current form of each team.

Stats would be rear view mirror or history of what has occurred, a good reasonable guide to possible performance in future but its still old data.   The best attempt a person has is their aim for future moves and current performance, no stat can really describe that as well as a person with great judgement hence the betting is on the person not the stats or numbers showing.  
  
  I love stats but its just a guide, an additional help not the whole picture not even close to the majority of a good bet is the statistics.   If we could see stats being that reliable computers would have taken and dominated anything people do by now.  Computers are best placed and capable to calculate complex formulas and update it for best performance but luckily people still have the advantage imo.

You're getting lost in your own ideas. What you're saying is your opinion, not everyone's reality. That's the foundation, and it works in the long run. Then there's the matter of adding non-decisive information, and by that I mean situations inherent to the game. The hardest part isn't betting on the classic odds of 1.5, 1.8, or 2.0; the real skill lies in finding value in bets with odds higher than 2.5, etc. And that's often determined by the interplay of many factors, and those same factors can be both beneficial and detrimental. I think the best example of this is the World Cup final.

The problem is not the statistics, it is treating them as if they are enough to make your bets.
Statistics is very important and you never should ignore them, because they are what help you keep to making bad bets. But to be profitable in the long run, besides having good statistics, you also need to find situations where your estimated probability is better than probability implied by the bookmakers.

For example... if you believe an outcome has a 55% chance of happening, then the fair odds would be 1.82 (1/0.55). So if you find a bookmaker to offer odds of 2.00 on that bet, you've found a potential value. But if they are only offering 1.70, then it is a bad bet.

Anyway... betting is complicated! It involves a lot of mathematics, statistics, research and luck
