Recovery seed and next best bitcoin wallet for daily transactions

I have a 12 recovery seeds that won't import into Electrum, it will give me where to type the words and I carefully checked them to confirm if the words are correct ones but Electrum won't let me import because the botton to do so isn't available, it's blank.

Anyways, so between Blue wallet and Cake wallet which one is good enough for small amount of Bitcoin? Nothing too big for long time, just for small transactions here and there.

I read they are both open source, is that true? Which is best and why?

For bitcoin stick around with blue wallet, but since you mentioned recovering your wallet on electrum.


you may consider using cake wallet for other coins storage aside bitcoin, do your own research, but any wallet that offers you seed phrase should be ok.

You've been answered already by many users, your seed phrase doesn't show because the default option for importing seed phrase are for electrum users already, those who have seedd phrase from electrum wallet are able to import without issues, but those using seed phrase from another wallet has to select the option from electrum to BIP39 users where the button to continue will pop up to continue.

I've used blue wallet many times and they are used for small transactions also, but the fee is pretty high as much as $1 upwards, the reason I stopped using it.

That's a good question, as we all know both wallet are open source and generally well regarded, so either of them is a good choice for storing your holdings. Both wallets has theirmain functions, so if you're into pure bitcoin holdings/investment, then I recommend you to chose the blue wallet because its a user friendly especially to a beginners here. It includes some useful bitcoin features such as native SegWit support, watch- only wallets and hardware wallet. As for Cake wallet, it's a good option too especially if you want to manage your bitcoins together with different type of cyrptocurrency holdings... But like what i've mentioned, if you want to focus in bitcoin only then you must consider the bluewallet as they offer a more streamlined experience.

Its not good to mixed it up knowing that there are lots of attacks happening which those people need to avoid. If it happen that they made a mistake on any of those coins they transact, they might get wiped out and lost all of their holdings.

So your suggestion is really good because separating on different wallets is best option to do here. Because they can avoid those potential heavy damages brought up by these type of attacks

Bitcoin is more valuable than altcoins and in long term, Bitcoin is a safest cryptocurrency asset you can have and get rich with it. Altcoins can make you poorer and it's not good to store all of them in one wallet like a mixture between good and bad ones.

In security, it's more important to separate them in different wallets. If anything bad from one altcoin project that let my wallet compromised, for example, my bitcoins in another wallet or other wallets will be safe.

Even with bitcoin fund, I would like to store them in some wallets, as who knows if either your desktop computer compromised or laptop or phone. Let's spread your coins to some wallets, you will never lose all of them.

It doesn't make sense to say that BlueWallet's fees are high.
Take note that Bluewallet doesn't charge you any fee when you make a transaction, and all the fees you pay go to miners. BlueWallet just gives you an estimate of the required fee rate, and you can set the fee rate youself.

Segwit support?
BlueWallet is definitely a good choice, but segwit support isn't really an advantage anymore. Segwit was introduced in 2017, and almost all wallets support it.

Blue wallet on the other hand works in a way that if you type ora instead of orange it will bring up words that start with ora and you can click your screen for the complete words which adds extra safety protocol to importing recovery seeds, i don't like the idea of importing recovery seeds into different crypto wallets as I have lost some Bitcoin this way but my own reasons is different, because I mistakenly import my recovery seed into a fake wallet that I downloaded from Google Playstore.

Op, I believe you have gotten enough directions on how to go about it, so you should know the reason why Electrum didn't support the import you were intended to to, due to the exclusive seed layout they make use of thier own by preset. And if your 12 words came from most wallet like trust wallet they do follow the BIP39 standard. Electrum may actually not recognize them, so the best is to click the BIP39 option which I can see that many have shown you the picture guide on it.Also both be cake wallet and the blue wallet are open source and for the small transactions I think the blue wallet fits it betters.

Cake wallet is very buggy right now, I have seen some users posting recently that the wallet recent updates are buggy. I will not recommend anyone to use the wallet right now as I have also experienced it myself. It failed to update balance early and also users having issue making  bitcoin transactions on it. Another thing is the less than 1 sat/vbyte fee that it is not supporting. The best he can go for is just Electrum or Bluewallet.

Having a seed phrase doesn't mean the wallet is safe. I disagree with that part. Even random and phishing apps do issue seed phrase and once you make deposit, your coin is gone and the seed phrase becomes useless. Sticking with the open source wallet is the best idea. It's advisable to go for open source wallet that have years of reputation. Bluewallet is the ideal wallet for Op since he specifically said bitcoin.

I never want to store my bitcoins in a same wallet with altcoins.

I am fearful about security risks and I really don't want to lose my control by selling my bitcoin and buying altcoins. I don't use Cake wallet but some multicoin wallets can have features for you do to that.

I store my bitcoin for long term holding and it's reason I want to only store bitcoin in one wallet. With altcoins, if I have them, I store them in another wallet.

Blue wallet is probably the best option in my opinion because I've used it before, even though I'm now fully using Electrum.
But if electrum can't be used, the best option is Blue Wallet if it's on the list of wallets you want to use.

Several other wallets such as Unstopable wallet, Unisat which is also Open Source can be an option,
I am now still using Unisat Wallet specifically for the Bitcoin ecosystem which includes Support for Ordinal, Runes, BRC-20 and several other Bitcoin ecosystems.
The appearance is good and many features are provided.
