Global super cricket match

A cricket noob here too, but as I can see, although the name of the competition sounds like the most serious (can you think of a more powerful name that Global Super League??), I see that in fact it is very new and, according to the event’s entry in the Wikipedia here, its first edition was as recent as in 2024.

Hosted by Guyana and with only five teams, I’m not surprised to see that they won the last two editions.

Oh then this is just like Spurs winning Peace Cup   Funny to say Global Super League and it is new tiny countries playing,,, Super League in football was referring to the best of the best.

This is not an ICC event, as far as I know the main organiser of this competition is Cricket West Indies and probably has the support of the Guyana government. But you should keep in mind that ICC events are, World Test Championship, ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, and a few others.

However, domestic franchise league teams from different countries around the world are invited to participate in this competition. These are not international teams but international players participate.

Um yes I could figure that out myself about ICC thanks,,, just wanted some cricket people to tell me quickly, nice to learn like that

You are right bro, third edition Global Super League (GLS) competition 2026 finished yesterday, and unfortunately, I missed few match during tournament. Last match I watched was when Lahore qalandets squad were at top of standing and I believed they would easily reach for final battle because two consecutive win had strong positive impact on their point and rank. When I saw finalists, I was surprised that LQ squad had been eliminated, especially since they were my favorite squad in this edition.

Talking about final, it was kind of match you do not get to see very often. A low scoring match finished with thriller victory. It was truly contest of bowlers vs bowlers, as both batting inning struggled throughout match. After seeing target of just 85, I thought SF squad would chase it simply but GAW squad turned match around with impressive bowling strength and defended total scores successfully, and SF squad was fell short by 6 scores.

By winning final, GAW squad became champion of 2026 GSL and won back to back two tournaments. Here are winner of every edition:

2024 : Rangpur Riders
2025 : Guyana Amazon Warriors
2026 : Guyana Amazon Warriors

In my life, I didn't see that kind of final match in which both teams did good bowling but their batting was collapse in this match. Guyana Amazon Warriors was strong team of the tournament because they won all matches and all fans who love that team expected good target by that team but they could not give good performance in this match and no batter could make half century in this match. When I saw target of 86 runs I expected one sided match but there was two sided game and any team could win this match till last wicket. San Francisco Unicorns team was high quality team but their performance was not good at the end and result was in the front of all World when they could not chase 86 target.
