After much evaluation overly drawing a strict line to deviate kids from adults was never helpful on the long run. If the conversation is slight and consumable for the child they have no problem staying there. In a more sophisticated convos that could lead the child into asking questions, it's best they're asked to excuse the adults for some minutes.

It's clear how your childhood ( I mean everyone here) is definitely very different from that of the children of today no matter your country of origin or globality (correct me if I am wrong). Not in any way calling anything bad but as a child I guess you where usually asked to leave the room when adults are definitely going to be having adult talks of whatsoever intensity? Nowadays, the level at which children middle into adults talk is something else.
what if we or you bring back telling kids to leave the room or space when adults are going to be having or are already having adult talks?
It is a common thing where if adults are discussing a common topic, then the little ones start making a fuss around them. Then the general atmosphere of the discussion can be spoiled or the attention of the adults can be disturbed. For this reason, the guardians of the house or the little ones are asked to leave the room or they are asked to go away and focus on the game again. Or there can be many cases where the adults are discussing very confidential matters where even if the children are present, the atmosphere can be spoiled, so they are asked to go out. Even now, we sometimes ask our little ones to leave the middle of the adults' discussion. Or we try to explain to them and put them in another environment so that the children cannot hear some of our confidential conversations. This is not a hint of any behavioral issue for the child, but to maintain the normal atmosphere of the discussion, children are sometimes asked to leave such a room.

For me, it has both good and bad side. Back in those days, many parents usually as their children to excuse them when adults are discussing serious matter. It really helps because there are things children ain’t supposed to listen to, especially something that has to do with money, quarrels or adult discussion. But nowadays things have really changed. Children of nowadays ask more questions and many parents always try to make them understand what is happening around the vicinity.
The problem isn’t even if they are listening to what adults are saying but it’s when they no longer know there boundaries and they begin to interrupt when adults are discussing. Bringing back the culture of politely telling children to excuse adults while discussing is bad. Most times it teaches respect and discipline. It will make them understand that every discussion has it own age and time. Adult also need to explain to children when necessary instead of hiding things from them.

When adults are talking when I was still small, I don’t even have the right to speak, and whenever they having some sensitive discussion, they do always ask me to excuse them, so that I won’t have any knowledge about whatever they want to talk about. I feel things are changing already, and whenever adults are talking now, kids do involve themselves in the conversation which is not really proper, that’s why kids are being exposed easily now, they listen to conversations which they are not suppose to listen to. Whenever I want to talk to my friends or family members about some sensitive things, I do always ask the kids to excuse us, and if it’s a place that the kids can’t excuse us, then I will move outside to talk about it, or I will just postpone the discussion till another time. Kids are not suppose to hear some things that adults are going to say.

what if we or you bring back telling kids to leave the room or space when adults are going to be having or are already having adult talks? Your question is not that direct. If you choose to use such approach, it's clearly not anyone's business, because you're doing what you believe is best for your kids. From a rational pov, it doesn't make much sense to involve a child in a conversation that clearly has nothing to do with them, especially when that conversation does not pass an actual message that is appropriate for their age. A younger child might not necessarily understand what a private moment is, so there are other ways to keep them away other than asking them to leave the room. As for those who are old enough to understand that certain matters don't concern them, they should be spoken to whenever there's a need for that.

It’s the proper thing to do, some conversations aren’t supposed to be discussed in front of a child. Children pick up on things a lot, you may have it that they don’t pay attention but they see, hear, and replicate things and behavioral patterns around them. Certain adult conversations can mislead children, simply from the because they’re limited to what they know, and may draw other conclusions from them. Sometimes these conversations get heated and may lead to exchanges of words, parents have always been tasked with creating a safe space for kids to learn and grow. Exposing them to certain informations and conversations when they’re young and clearly not of age to understand at turn out to be fault. So telling kids to leave the room in certain situations is a policy I adopt and I think majority of adults should too.

There's what we call "gentle parenting" these days and I feel it will be a lot harder to ask your child to leave a space when you're trying to have a conversation because to you it's nothing to worry about if they are there or not.
Well it depends on the kind of conversation that you’ll be having with the next person. It’s always important to set clear boundaries and restrictions for your kids because there are some sensitive information that adults disclose and discuss during their conversations, and kids having access to these set of information may give them the kind of exposure that you wouldn’t like. Children are very inquisitive, they learn really fast and they’re always attentive, even when you feel they’re not paying attention, they are 100%, and whatever they hear or see, they’re always prompted to go try it out. And that’s why it’s not cool to expose them to certain things.

I think you are right about how children behave nowadays, unlike before children have fear and respect for the elderly ones, for that reason they behave themselves and avoid anything that will attract punishment from their parents or elderly ones. But this generation reverse is the case. For me I still maintain the old way of telling kids to go away when private matters are discussed. I believe that even as This Gen Z generation is behaving awkward and not respecting elders, there is a way to handle them. And this is dependent on parents/ guardians or caretakers. Children are product of what you train them to be, but when you think that we are in a new Era that children do as it please them, then so it will be for you. But when you let them know that you are in charge, they will fear and respect your authority regardless of the Era we find ourselves. don't forget there are still good children in this generation.

Things have definitely changed. Back then, children were seen and not heard. When adults had serious conversations, kids were sent out, no questions asked. It was just the way it was. Now, children are more involved in everything. They are exposed to adult conversations earlier, partly because of technology and partly because parenting styles have shifted. Some see it as progress, others see it as a loss of boundaries. I think there is still value in giving adults space to talk freely without little ears picking up everything. It is not about hiding things, but about letting children be children for a little longer.

Children middling into adult talk is base on the upbringing of the parents, when the parents is the " I don't care" type, they don't care If what their children is doing is wright or wrong. my neighbor is fund of allowing her children to always involve themselves in any conversation her mum is having with visitors, I told the mom this is a bad habit but she refused to listen to me seeing it as one of the best way to bond motherly love to children. Now her children don't have respect for her, they talk to her in a reckless and insulltive manner and she is regretting and becoming angry now, but initially she never see it as anything but now she is facing the reality. My advice is that we should train our child in a nice and dicent way so that they will appear humble and respectful in the society. Let us not peg the as Gen Z, alot needs to be corrected.

It has nothing to do with modern kids, it is a good practice to set boundaries between kids too, so they know when they should interfere and when they should mind their own business. But it should be done from the very beginning, one who make this new change all of a sudden will feel some awkwardness in the beginning but as long as they are kid they will adapt to the change more easily.
Also, a parent should know their limits while their kids are around, they should not be obscene but they can be romaintic where there is still a fine line between them.

We can say they should leave and the internet will somehow reveal such conversations to them. What we should do as adult is to caution them on what information is worth listening to. Adult surely needs that privacy to have meaningful conversations. But we shouldn't neglect the kids as some information they also need to get involved. It's just a matter of which one.

Many of us at that time didn't question if we were asked to excuse the room coz we saw it as a sign of respect, and it is true of course not all conversation are actually meant for the ears of children.. Children don't belong to every conversation, but what can we say, Welcome to the Gen- Z era OP... This is the kind of era that seems so unrealistic for we to have such kind of things happen today... In this era children has wings that they can talk to their parent without any kind of fear .. Some children even go as far as abusing their parents, they do things that we where of coz very much scared to do back in our days.. I would give anything to bring back that era where children actually respected their elder..

what if we or you bring back telling kids to leave the room or space when adults are going to be having or are already having adult talks?
Is it something you saw as a tradition that needed to be readjust or what are you insinuating? Because all I can understand from this is that it is lifestyle of how certain people chooses to bring up their children especially those living in a congested apartment that the area is not enough for kids sit out and adults sit out. I trust when you live in a comfortable apart, children would have their own department and so adults could always have privacy to do their things. This is also reason why couple with kids should have a separate room from their kids because when you (husband and wife) want to have some bedtimes you don't have to walk the kids out. Nevertheless, for the fact that we spend more times with our kids, when there is a discussion or event ought to keep off from them occurs, surely sending them away or you reschedule yourselves will help to avoid the risky situations for the good of your kids.

Children will adapt to the way you teach them from a young age. Children initially learn from the environment and people around them, especially from their parents. Earlier, children used to respect their elders, but the reality is that in recent times, many parents are busy working and do not spend much time with their children. These children are deprived of parental affection, so they are not able to learn the culture of respecting elders. You can talk about children leaving the room during important discussions, but you need to understand the attitude of those children to see how ready they are to listen to your instructions.
