That's a very good decision you took, mate. I support your stance and appreciate you for realizing the issues and fixing them. Actually, gambling has now turned to grab money from users more than providing an entertainment environment. A player loses more than he has earned, and if that is the case, then what's the reason to gamble if you came for the profit? But I think if you quit and never want to come back, then you should do the self exclusion to close all the doors that open to gambling. But let's see how much control you have, so that you will never go back and won't need that self exclusion feature.

it could be a lie as you say but what's the point in saying it publicly then
I don't remember which book i read this in, when you state a goal in public it helps you because you are often not willing to make a bad impression on others publicly
when you play online you play in secret, not publicly.
Saying something in public where people know your identity and down to your house is different from when someone says something online where only a few people or none know who they are in real life.

Keeping such words or breaking depends on the person and can't be tiled or held by what they publish in public, the op is keeping the thread updated I just hope he's done for good and focus more on his business and expanding it than going back again and losing it all.

Suddenly stopping might create withdrawal symptoms. Even if you close your accounts, you'll still want to gamble. It's one thing to say "I've closed my accounts and I won't gamble anymore," and another thing to actually do it.
I understand you want to focus on your work, and I hope you do well. If you start gambling occasionally for fun, then you won't have to think about these things.
And most importantly, you won't chase after your losses or dwell on them, so set aside a small amount and enjoy yourself occasionally.

I do not think I will indulge someone that has gone this far and had this experience to still gamble even though it is for fun I won't advise that because In reality people who claim to gamble for fun still turn addict because at some point in time they will want to go after their loss especially if it is not working for them at all. Perhaps the best advise or suggestion to give to the fella is to stop gambling for now or stop completely though he will still go back after some while because the memory is still there.

In life there are decisions you must take for your own sanity, when gambling start causing you more harm than good it is better you stop it immediately before it will destroy your life.

The problem most gamblers have is not knowing when you stop gambling or should I say when to quit gambling. The moment gambling start being problematic the best thing is to quit it immediately.

It is very difficult to quit gambling, especially if you are addicted to it. And I like the fact that you where able to quit gambling to focus on your business, you just made the best decision so goodluck.
