Bitmart is shutting down all operations after existing for 11 years due to a token crash. I saw this news so i decided to bring it to your notice, i know it's not a popular exchange in our country but there might be people here who use the exchange. So I urge them to promptly withdraw whatever asset they have in the exchange to another wallet cause from January 31st 2027, there would be total cessation of operations in the platform. Normally, it's not good to hold Bitcoin in exchanges so i believe you all would be wise against doing that but if there's anyone who previously used the exchange for trading and still have some funds there, take note and do the needful. Timeline of how their operations would be stoppedJul 26, 2026, 01:30 UTC: New registrations, deposits, and new trading orders will begin to be suspended. Aug 26, 2026, 01:00 UTC: All trading services will be discontinued. Jan 31, 2027, 15:59 UTC: Platform operations will officially cease.

Thanks for this information. I don't actually hold my cryptocurrency assets in CEX but I have some token in that exchange and my reason of keeping them there is because I have them in sell limit orders which have not been filled for more than a year now, reason being that they have turned into shitcoins and will not likely survive. I might consider withdrawing the to my wallet and just leave them there. Buying those shitcoins were part of the things I regret the most in my cryptocurrency investing.

Bitmart has shown that they care for their users by not letting the users down or putting them under intense pressure in a short notice. This 5 months is enough notice for anyone to figure out what next to do with his assets. Deposits and new user registration is officially closing today and it will be followed by trading discontinuation and then the exchange ceases officially. I don't use this exchange but I will advise all the affected to utilise this opportunity to start withdrawing their assets. If every online platform can be this transparent, then the community could increase their trust in case of any closures as we're seeing now.

OP good information!… especially to those of us who use this exchanges and don’t constantly check our mails, good a thing I’m in this forum and was able to see it now. It’s a commendable act they’re giving us a long time notice so we can get our affairs in order and fuck out of there. But why now?, we just got OKX back in Nigeria and now we’re losing Bitmart though this one is globally, it’s like a trade by batter scenario for Nigerians……hahaha. Why shut down now they’re popular.

According to the info on their official acc on X, they said "it's due to a changing market environment and shift in strategic directions" you can check it out on the link i dropped in my first post on this thread. I also figured out that their official token has dropped more than 50% since this news. This is the second exchange that is shutting down recently, the first one before this was BitMex, I don't know if you know about them, they recently announced that they're shutting down totally on the 23rd September of this year.

It a good idea we find it out early before trading service stops, the best idea is not to wait until the deadline, since u already use BitMart. Because it might not be the best idea because if you should wait for last minute you can latar face network congestion or some unexpected issues. If you do love ur coin, it better you do move them while everything is still working perfectly in place, this a good step to take. This another moment to share this to us all, exchange aren't for a long team place to store ur coin, they are use for trading.

Good information; I have an account with BitMart exchange, I just have to login now to check if I left any coin in there before they officially closed according to this information you shared with us, I went there and see that the coin I left there has even died with zero value. I with the exchange all the best. This another good sign to some of us that still believe in leaving their coins in centralized exchanges; they are doing their business, once they find out that they are not making profit or they have some problems, they will just leave. Some exchanges don’t usually give sign or notify the public to withdraw their funds, they go with the money. Therefore, let’s try and get use to keeping private key and seed phrase safe.

I use Bitmart exchange for trading but thank you for the information you provided because there are many people on this local board who are still unaware of this issue. In fact, due to such incidents of exchanges, maybe no one should hold crypto currency on these exchanges. But one thing we need to be careful of right now is that since Bitmart has stopped all their activities, maybe now impersonating fraudsters will jump in to cheat people. In fact, these scammers may ask for account unfreezing fees through fake Bitmart telegrams so we all should be careful and withdraw the crypto assets held from this exchange very quickly and every investor should prevent fraud.

Nice update. But I don't use Bitmart, maybe those that probably have business with it can take advantage of this information and do what is expected of them. So I urge them to promptly withdraw whatever asset they have in the exchange to another wallet cause from January 31st 2027, there would be total cessation of operations in the platform.
This is one thing I can not advice anyone even though is someone I don't like. Because keeping or saving assets on an exchange can be very risky unless those assets we are talking about means nothing to you before you can even think of such.

If you don't use it then the information doesn't directly concern you but you can pass it on to your crypto inclined friends off the forum that haven't got the awareness of the exchange shutdown, you never can tell which of them uses it but are yet to know about the information. I don't expect people to store Bitcoin in exchanges except they choose to trade with it however, those who do and have their Bitcoin stored in Bitmart would now see reasons why self custody matters. The reasons why they decided to shutdown is not very clear to me yet but i hope more people who use the exchange see the information before they shutdown completely.

Likewise I don’t make use of Bitmart exchange and of course those who are making use of it or probably have some little holdings there should gently moved it to somewhere safe like non custodial wallet because some exchange won’t even make announcement or bring to their clients notice that they are shutting down instead they will just vanish in the air like gas. Wallet are much more safer and preferable when it comes to holdings because we have total access and control of our wallets and no third party are involved. Let make sure we don’t keep much on exchanges because we don’t know what the future holds.

Thanks, bro, for the information.
This is a nice update, but something as important as this should have been sent through email to all their users so that awareness would be raised and not just posting on their official X account, I mean what if some of the users actually missed the information and failed to acknowledge the fact that they are closing and failed to withdraw their assets and it got confiscated?

I never used this Cex before and na maybe due to it unpopularity for we country. I be this person way no the like leave coins inside Cex account if no be trade way dey active there, this platforms na unpredictable place way no dey reliable to leave cryptocurrency there. As e done be, I dey pleased with the length of time them give for people to withdraw their funds, from now till 2027 still long and enough for any person with coins inside the platform to be informed and withdraw am before the last day.

That is to show how much this people (Bitmart team) don't care and that's the truth. Let say some user's are affected by this latest development due to the fact that they weren't well informed, what will Bitmart do? Perhaps they will always stand their ground that they have already displayed the information on their official X handle not minding that not everyone that's always active on X. But I thank God for the forum that has always kept us updated in one way or the other through various users. And again, I appreciate our respective efforts in keeping each other updated.

Bitmart is shutting down all operations after existing for 11 years due to a token crash.
Here are two lessons to learn from these happenings. 1. Don't have your portfolio in custodial storage; centralized platforms can decide to shut down at any time or be hacked for any reason, and our assets with them may be at risk. Instead, make use of a decentralized exchange or any cold storage to hold your assets. 2. For some of us that like investing on random tokens, they should serve a listen to us that we should always consider the risk in them than the benefits they wanted to render us, I'm very sure not all it's users will be informed of this shutdown warning update, if you must make use of an exchange then try to consider the ones that are more recognized like Bybit and Binance, but preferably a cold storage.

No need for regrets but rather see them as lessons and I'm glad you already learnt some lesson even though it was some bitter lessons. Most times, people choose these exchanges for convenience ignoring the risk involved which isn't a good one. I hope those who have some withdrawable amount in the exchange would be able to make good use of the this information and act really fast because after the said date of operation shutdown, it might be very difficult to recover fund from the exchange.
