The positive side may be people have bigger amount of money, so they can spend more in gambling. 
However, I think it tends to showing bad side. It means people more rely on gambling to gain money. They may have a mindset that gambling is the only way to gain instant huge money currently. So, besides it may improve the addiction cases, it also reflects that people become lazy to do hard work and have a wrong mindset about gambling purpose.

I’m skeptical on this one since their gambling spending is increasing to insane level. Last 2018 it’s just around 6.6B while it keeps increasing every year until the latest 166B on 2025.

 I think the main thing that stands out here is that the state receives more tax revenue, and the casinos receive more profit. And if these two entities benefit from this, then everything else is secondary. I can not conclusively say whether it's bad or good that such an amount of money is used to place bets on sports betting platforms in a year because we all know to some extent that gambling is bad especially when those gambling don't use their wisdom to do so and they run into bankruptcy from their reckless bettings.

If we want to compare and we add the movie, music and museum industries just to mention a few the amount will be three times of the $166billion in a year, though majority of the gambler bet with a small amount of money and it's only few of the rich people that bets with a substantial or huge amount of money. I don't think it's a positive attitude because we will be encouraging the Younger generations into gambling with this stats and with the rapid platforms of sports bettings we have now it will soon take over all the place and even without mentioning it, addiction to gambling will be on high increase.

Actually, the figure doesn't represent loses but the total of what bettors have gambled with and that includes both loses and winnings. However, on the societal view and benefit, we have to remind ourselves that American government tax on gambling winning as income. So whilst the gambler is winning and benefitting, the government is also generating income through tax which goes back to the society as social welfare and amenities. Talking about those who are losing from their bets too, the US economy has a strong wealth creation opportunities/mechanism that even the less skilled person can get a livelihood that they may not depend on gambling for survival unlike many other gamblers in other countinent.
