Bitcoin has been around for quite some time ever since the genesis block, where the very first block of the Bitcoin blockchain was created in January 2009. And perhaps we don't even notice that Bitcoin will have been around for nearly 6,500 days. In just about three more years Bitcoin will celebrate its 20th anniversary. This year Bitcoin has reached its sweet 17th year. Bitcoin so far has successfully weathered all the drama with its excellent performance. And all the negative press surrounding Bitcoin has been successfully dispelled with a strength that can never be overthrown. Bitcoin is currently not only used as a currency as was its original purpose. But It has also become an asset that serves as a store of value. I personally in awe and even feel a deep respect for everything Bitcoin has provided us so far. Bitcoin has been immensely beneficial to us in every way we’ve utilized it. My only hope for Bitcoin’s future is that it continues to illuminate the world with a light that will never fade. The bright light of Bitcoin has shown us a wonderful path that has allowed us to come this far with ease. I can’t imagine what our lives would be like without Bitcoin which has given us freedom.

There is no way that you will not appreciate bitcoin longevity if you’re a bitcoin enthusiast. But what actually impresses me more about it is not just the fact that that it has existed for 17years. because there have been many technologies that also survived that long time. What made bitcoin stand out for me is that it has continued operating without any central authority capable of simply deciding it future for everyone.

Another interesting thing about bitcoin which is mostly talk about here on many threads is the way it evolved from it initial representations of normal peer to peer electronic cash systems to saving asset, And also a settlement network that holds value outside the traditional banking system.

My expectation from bitcoin in the next phase is that  it should continue to evolve around its edges while the core protocol is still unchanged, and that balance will always be its greatest strength. However, innovation can come in the wallet, second layer, privacy tool, and other part of the ecosystem without constantly changing the fundamental rule of the base layer.

It will be exciting indeed, I think Bitcoin strength isn’t just its potential to increase in fiat , but the freedom that comes with it (the freedom it offers).  That’s why is far superior to other cryptocurrencies due to its high level of financial freedom .

Although the price appreciation may attract folks at first  , but with time they will grow in it and see the potential and quality of Bitcoin . Many bitcoin enthusiasts started that way, but they eventually became strong bitcoin maximalist that’s how more folks will come and Bitcoin will keep gaining more adoption.

Of course, who wouldn't appreciate the existence of Bitcoin if they have been using it for years? Bitcoin and this industry has surely brought a lot of positive changes in our lives which is why we think that what we would have been doing if Satoshi never have created Bitcoin.

About the future expectations, I would say that I surely expect more wider mainstream adoption and acceptance for Bitcoin over the years, because currently, there are only specific countries and specific places in those countries where Bitcoin is accepted as a payment, but it would be fun if Bitcoin becomes as widely accepted and recognized as Visa and other cards are anywhere in the world. If that happens, then I would say that Bitcoin has finally achieved everything.

It will surely take a lot of time, but I believe it will happen one day.

I must say, I admire the courage of Bitcoin and the trust it has been able to gather from its community over the years. Not many project would have survived with the constant attack that Bitcoin is getting, the government are after Bitcoin and also the economist and financial experts all speak bad everyday about Bitcoin but yet they couldn't kill it. With the years Bitcoin has survived it's only obvious there are more fruitful years ahead. Bitcoin was created with a genuine interest of the people at heart therefore it will be difficult for anything to defeat it, Bitcoin does not need the government to continue operating but I wouldn't mind we entering into the next phase with full adoption being the main focus. With more global adoption I believe Bitcoin will cross more milestones that we can't even imagine that is why I believe the next phase should be focus fully on worldwide adoption.

Apart from surviving for over 17 years now, Bitcoin survived without needing anyone's permission, that's the part that I find to be mysterious about it. Despite all the attacks to stop it and all the changes that's happened all these years, Bitcoin network has continued to produce blocks.

Yes, the impact so far is large and greatly appreciated, since when the wallet and chain was built in 2009, many dive into the creaming opportunity even when they don't know what is the future of Bitcoin or having spare knowledge of it weather is a scam or not people take advantage of it and investment in buying million pieces and store, other were scared to take the risk, while some were just observant with critiques but to the amazement of everybody it want all this long with huge success, from $10 to $75k turning a nobody who foolishly investment with not minding the risk to billionaires, some for reasons of uncertainties sold out their treasures earlier for pea nuts and loss hope over the coins, but its later turning tremendously great, then scammers begans to take advantage and scam people of their wallets, so there's also many disadvantages Bitcoin brings along, many investors lost their money through scam and missing seed phrase, key and coded wallets. But Bitcoin has really make a great change but mind you even if there was no Bitcoin the world will still offers other sources of surviving, the world can still do without it.

There is no way that we are not going to see negativity; it's part of the growth process. The good thing is that Bitcoin is always going to overcome the negativity; many people have fallen short along the journey because of these bad times, to the point that some would even think that Bitcoin recovering is not going to be possible, but Bitcoin proved all that wrong.

I could remember so many terrible periods with Bitcoin, like the time when the Bitcoin network was congested  and fees for transacting was so high that so many people starting paying so much just to get their coins mined faster; it felt as if some of these issues were not going to pass or end, but in the end all these are past memories.

I couldn't agree more, although it's not everyone that agrees to this but those that have concrete knowledge of Bitcoin and has adopted it, knows that Bitcoin really changed the way they thought about money before, some people have thought about money as what can only be created and controlled by government but Bitcoin has shown that money can exist without depending on any centralized authorities and yet will work efficiently to serve its purpose, people can transfer wealth among themselves without relying on several banks procedures.

Some time ago, there's this wealthy man that died in my country, he was very ill and I think he already knew that he can't make it, so he told his sister who was taking care of him, he told her about the 5 different banks he was using and also told her the amount he holds in each of those bank account, after he passed away, it was very difficult for the woman to recover all those money, the procedures was too much and so challenging but with Bitcoin, it is very easy to transfer wealth without those challenges Bank processes.

BTC was proposed exactly when it was needed, Satoshi saw a problem and saw a need for a decentralized payment system; fortunately, it evolved into something more, much more than what it was intended for and we all love it. Since it is an open source, i guess it is open for evolution.

It’s always being a subject to fully grasp just how fees stopped to be much of an issue. As far as I know, the network is still congested still, people still buy during the bulls and bears like usual and somehow, the fees remain well around 1-5 sat/byte to get you’re transitions mined in the first block or second and it doesn’t take up to 30minutes to get your transaction confirmed and utilized as you please.

Point to the direction of that man who wont appreciate a good thing. Bitcoin is proof that something of great value will flourish even in a doubting society. Bitcoin has nothing to prove right from the beginning. It is a system that moves in its own way. Few saw the idea, trusted it, and sure, it was the acceptance that proved Bitcoin was actually the real deal.

I wish it were possible to avert the unforseen in the years to come, but no, Bitcoin would never have stood strong for all these years if not for most of those crises. Any major crash, from as low as a pandemic to something more threatening like the 2022 ecosystem meltdown can start another global financial panic. With thousands spreading the unending FUD, anyone would like to release up to stay at the safer side.
For me, the beauty of it all is not about how many times it has stumbled over, but how consistent it has always been during the recovery timelines. Nothing scares me anymore.

If we look at Bitcoin history from its inception to the present, it has proven itself to be the world's most resilient asset. It's been around for almost 17 years, and this isn't a short time. In fact, in the next three years, Bitcoin will reach two decades. This clearly proves that BTC is a very powerful asset and will definitely continue to benefit those who continue to hold it. Bitcoin has gone through many phases, from multiple crashes, regulatory drama, massive negative media coverage and even bans in several countries. But its price has continued to rise over the long term and its adoption has become increasingly widespread.

From its initial goal of challenging the fiat system which was then, and even now detrimental, Bitcoin has now become the best asset and can even enable us to achieve freedom. Bitcoin continues to demonstrate its anti fragile nature, and I am grateful to have learned about Bitcoin because it has at least improved my financial situation. Bitcoin is here to stay, and more and more people are recognizing its value as a store of wealth in an era of economic uncertainty and continued inflation. Yes. The coming years for Bitcoin won't be any different from what we have experience with Bitcoin so far, but a lot of things are going to be changing for us as Bitcoin community.


Price is going to increase significantly, as much as adoption Increases, along side regulations and global interest and power interference is going to be more evident than before, but in all of this we that have the basic knowledge about Bitcoin will be more positioned to make good decisions and support for the asset we love which is Bitcoin.

We can't expect too much, but try to enjoy the benefits it offers us now. The next phase? What's that?

Bitcoin is only currently limited in terms of usage and adoption. And by adoption I mean globally. A time will have to come where Bitcoin will be used globally and recognize not just as an investment but a currency for daily transactions.

Everything bitcoin has archived today is because of it's outstanding quality when being compared to other cryptocurrency.

I can't agree more. I think this is one of the major reasons why people trust Bitcoin so much, not because it has managed to gain such a high value over time, but because it has the ability to get up and become even stronger after every crash, and that's what makes people put in so much trust in it. No one would have been investing money in an asset that goes to $69k and then drops to $16k because people would get afraid of losing their money if it doesn't manage to recover and either stays around there or goes even lower, but people trusted it because they knew it has the potential to grow back, and it has proved that with the new $126k all-time high, and how even if it drops to $10k, which isn't going to happen, people will still trust it and invest.

There are so many alternative cryptocurrencies in this market or industry right now, so many of them even have features that Bitcoin's network might not have, some of them are extremely fast and cheap, way cheaper than Bitcoin when it comes to making transactions, some might have even lower supplies than Bitcoin, but despite all these things, none could ever stand a chance against Bitcoin when it comes to trusting a cryptocurrency with your money. People use altcoins only for short-term gains because they can't trust that if an altcoin loses value, it will recover the same way that Bitcoin does.
