If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?
It all depends on how close the person is to me. There are some friends who are just street friends, but we are not that close. Those kinds of people, I don't need to keep advising them to stop gambling after I've already told them a few times. But when it comes to someone who is close to me maybe someone I've grown up with or a close friend no matter what, I will keep advising them to reduce the amount they gamble. Even if they decide to stop talking to me, I won't stop advising them because their gambling affects me as someone who cares about them.In fact, I have someone like that. He is my cousin, and he is addicted to gambling. Because of the advice I always give him, he even went as far as blocking me so that I couldn't keep talking to him about it. He has warned me several times to stop advising him about gambling, but whenever we meet again, I still encourage him to reduce the way he gamble.

Maybe i'd try at least once to let him know why a lot of people are worried, but if he's not taking it seriously, then i'd rather leave him be. It's not worth talking it out again when he's not willing to move and start dealing with his gambling addiction.
The way I see it, your friend's aggressiveness might be his way of responding to those who try to help him, because some people quickly get annoyed when others suddenly try to step in at something they think is fine.
Just let them what they want when it comes to gambling. Because this is like any other addiction, they don't want others to meddle with their affairs. And so they become aggressive as if someone want to stop their desires. They need to realize on their own that they need to alter their lifestyle for their own betterment. Because if not, it is just like someone wants to force him to change and it is because of the others and not on his own accord. If someone doesn't want to do it themselves, then it's never possible to make them do it. You can't force someone to quit a habit. If they don't understand their gambling addiction, then you can never get them out of it. First of all, you need your own mental control, your own understanding, and your own will. If a gambler can't understand their addiction, or doesn't want to take any action against it even after understanding it, then you can't get them away from it no matter how hard you try. Change comes from your own efforts, not from force. And the one thing about gambling is that a gambler doesn't understand their addiction until they are losing a lot of money because of their addiction, and because of that, they can't take any effective steps to get out of it, until they are losing everything.

If you've been talking to the same gambler time and time again, don't worry if you have advised him a lot to reduce gambling activities because it keeps on triggering him emotionally and draining him financially.
Life will teach these folks how to be on the right path afterward. It's going to be the usual way of life humbling them and teaching them the lesson that they need.
We will see from the very start if they're so serious and attentive to what we say. But if they are not, that's their problem to face and not ours.

For me, many people who are addicted to gambling don’t have same character, but only few have same personality. One of the common signs is that they don’t take correct when it has to do with their gambling habits. They can become angry, or even stop talking to you because they feel you’re trying to control their life. If it was my friend, I won’t just leave him to continue like nothing happened.
I will try to talk to him politely without judging him. But at the same time, I can’t force someone who doesn’t want to listen. If I have advice him several times and he refuses to listen, I will gladly respect his decision but I won’t support the addiction. And I will always be available for him whenever he realizes that he needs help. Most times people don’t change until they seen the consequences of their actions.

On the contrary, I don’t think those who are addicted to gambling are aggressive. They are one of those calmest people you’ll meet, most of them stay in doors and don’t even like talking to people. You can be living with them in the same building but they are just there minding their business and think about the next game at hand, and the money involved. That can be angry sometimes but not like always being aggressive, of course everyone can get angry and not necessarily attributing it to because they are gambling addict. I know emotions can be high when they lose some funds, but you see those gambling addict, they behave like they do not care anymore. They can be losing millions and be smiling like nothing is happening because they believe they will get it back sooner or later.

Not everyone is fond of taking advices from others, if I was in that position I will hear what others have to say and who knows it might be helpful for us, not to stop atleast to know where we are that can be a driving force to move forward. This is not particularly related to gambling but if they are addicted and when someone tries to talk them out of it, the most usual reply will be dismissive of what others say which is kind of the natural behaviour attributed to addiction.

i think the answer to this your question "why those who are addicted to gambling are always aggressive"? if someone is addicted the urge of gambling all the time will still be there and the funny part is that they won't be doing it for fun. that is why we should avoid addiction by all means because it is very dangerous. about your friend that always got upset whenever they are trying to advise him about his habit in gambling, he is doing himself and i hope it does not become late for him.
Two aspects should be considered for this because the gambler is advised against public gambling. It is natural that the gambler will appear aggressive. Because a gambler attitude is different, because when losing more money, it continues to try to recover or wants to forget about the bankroll lost in gambling. Gamblers in particular never conduct themselves according to the opinions of others. So you can give motivation to be realistic without taking such steps.

I am trying to get something straight for here about those who are addicted to gambling do have same characteristics? I have a friend who is so much attached to gambling and everyone around him knows it was an addiction and when they try to talk to him in regarding the way and manned he is putting much interest to gambling he picks offences and stops to be talking to people because they are like trying to make him understand that his gambling habits is becoming excessive.
If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?
When a person is addicted to gambling, his physical behavior, such as his speech, is definitely different from that of a healthy person. An addicted person will have less patience than a normal person and may get angry or upset easily. He may also not be able to make the right decisions. Anyone who comes forward to help the addicted person in the real sense will start to think of him as an enemy and will run away from him. In addition, the addicted person loses the ability to think normally. I think that gambling is okay for a person as long as the gambler is limited to his/her own means and the gambler gambles for the purpose of having fun and can calmly accept whatever the outcome is. If one expects more from gambling than this, gambling can become a big threat to him. If my friend or someone close to me is addicted to gambling, I will definitely try my best to help him get rid of the addiction so that we can return to a normal life as friends. First, I will make him very aware of the dangers and destruction of gambling and encourage him to believe that a better life awaits him. I will encourage him to develop a desire to be better, etc. I will continue to try to help him recover from gambling addiction and lead a normal life.

Being addicted to gambling doesn't necessarily mean that they will be aggressive. Some guys might even be calm yet battling the are battling with addiction. Alot of them try to defend what they are doing when being advised. Deep down they are really struggling. No matter how you advise some people, they won't stop the act until it completely ruins them. I have seen cases , where a guy sold his cars to gamble, in the end he lost everything. If I was to have a friend who is addicted, I will just keep advising him, so it's up to him to make his choice. If the advise touches his heart and decide to stop, he will surely do it but if they promise to stop without making up their mind, it will be hard for them to stop gambling. Addiction isn't an easy stuff to overcome, you need to have self control and discipline.

There’s actually no point trying to advise someone who is not interested in your advice, I won’t stress my self to advise a friend of mine who is not ready for a change. It is only when someone is ready for a change that your advice will get to him or her, anyone who is not ready for a change will never change so don’t bother stressing yourself. I have a lot of activities I do and I hate advising someone and the person is seeing me as someone who wants to control him or her, some people will even tell you that you are jealous of them just because you are trying to advise them on the good part to follow. When someone is deeply addicted to gambling you can never change them with your advice, they advise them self and change when they have lost a lot.

The best thing you can do is advise the person to stop especially if he respects you, use that as a leverage to talk him out of the abuse but how about those that are probably older than you who don't care about your opinion? In this case I'll say if you truly want that person to change, you have to look for someone whom he or she also respects to advise him as regards to their gambling engagement but if there's no one like that then I'm afraid there's nothing you can do aside from hoping it doesn't get more serious than that.

A gambler that shows an aggressive attitude towards others for the fact that he has lost consistently was prior to that time an aggressive person and just use that means to manifest his aggressive attitude. it is not always about the fact that he has lost in gambling or the issue of him being an addict.
Losing consistently can also make him aggressive and that could lead to him losing his cool and then transferring the aggression to someone else at the moment there's nothing losing can not cause and when it happens often to a person in gambling the best way is to avoid them till they are calm unless they could become dangerous and cause harm to people around them without knowing what they have done. Addicted gamblers are always aggressive, they may not have anybody at heart but then they have lost they can become angry unnecessarily that's one thing they experience often. One should not argue with a person when he is not in the right frame of mind because his common sense is not working at that time. One should not increase the tension with a gambler who is angry because of a loss, but rather explain it to him when he is calm. It is very natural to lose your temper when you lose in gambling because you have to use your hard-earned money. In gambling, the number of losses is more than wins, and similarly, if you lose repeatedly, your mood quickly deteriorates due to the pain of losing money. Therefore, it is repeatedly said that you should gamble using as much as you can afford to lose. I do not gamble much. When I first lost money in gambling, I regretted it for several days. Later, I realized that addicted gamblers lose money every day in the same way. At first, they were sad about losing money, but over time, that sadness turns into an aggressive mood. Which forces them to misbehave with their family and people around them over time. In most of the cases it is very difficult for aggressive gamblers to calm down, especially until they lose everything.

Well it depends on the person’s influence on that particular gambler. Let’s say for example, the gambler in question is your child, at least you hold some level of influence on the gambler and thus can use that influence to actually reach out to them and influence them even if they start to feel like being aggressive, because of that influence you hold on them, they won’t exhibit or show it off.

What's the point of discussing gambling with an addict? Of course, they'll be aggressive during the conversation. It can't be otherwise. It's important to convince them that they need professional help. It's not useless idea to talk to an addict about their gambling addiction. Even when a gambler isn't ready to quit completely but talking about it serves an important purpose by reducing the damage Open conversation can lead to some practical step. Such as, set a spending limits or a tight budget or handing over financial management to a trusted relative. Dismissing discussion entirely leaves the addict without any safety net. Your advice could help him from instant damage. It could reduce crisis situation, and keeps the door open for professional help when they are finally ready to change.

You are right, it is difficult to change someone by just giving them advice if they do not want to change. But that does not mean that advice is worthless. Sometimes a word does not work immediately, but later when there is a big loss, that word is the trigger to change his decision. And it is not right that all addicted people have to wait until there is a big loss. Some decide to change based on the support of family, friends or their own small negative experiences. So I do not want to force anyone to change yeah, but I certainly want to advice them in time. A reasonable word said at the right time can sometimes have more impact than we think.

You are very right, advise is good for those who have respect for you, as they will adhere to your words of advise but for those who don’t care to listen to your words do learn in the hard way. Though, there are some older ones who do listen to the words of the younger ones, which depends how one approaches them but for those that wants to learn in the hard way will be the one to advise themselves and do the right thing because even if you send someone who they respect to go and advise, they might still turned the person down as they thought their brains is always right and until they go through the hard way, they won’t understand the true meaning of Safe or responsible gambling.

This isn't a very surprising conclusion. Anyone suffering from their own vices, whether it's a gambling addiction, alcoholism, or drug addiction - always reacts extremely aggressively to the truth about their condition. They simply refuse to believe there’s a problem because they’ve created a "rosy world" for themselves where they have no problems, and everyone around them is just slandering them and accusing them of weakness... The result: a primitive defense mechanism.

Dude, first discover if he only addicted to gambling or something else along with gambling? I actually do not think he will be aggressive just because he is addicted to gambling. You will find many gambler who do not want to get into any trouble with anyone. Most of the time they avoid trouble. Yeah they are addicted to gambling, so what happen? are they harmful to society? They are just wasting their own money, it's nunya business. Here we don't have any right to stop them until they become harmful to our society. Rather, I have seen gamblers who are addicted to various drug along with gambling to be more aggressive. Now is this the effect of gambling or the effect of drug? I consider it the effect of drugs...

They simply refuse to believe there’s a problem because they’ve created a "rosy world" for themselves where they have no problems, and everyone around them is just slandering them and accusing them of weakness... The result: a primitive defense mechanism. Many people deny it despite being addicted. Denial is a kind of emotional reaction. When a person is addicted to gambling, no matter how much we warn him, he may take it as an attack. There are many who get angry when we warn him about gambling or prohibit him from gambling. However, if someone reacts aggressively to a warning about gambling, it is not right to assume that he is completely addicted. Rather than reacting, it is necessary to examine the consistency of the person's behavior, from which it is clear whether he is really addicted. For example, suppose he can play even after losing or is betting even with the necessary money. He does not stop playing even after losing repeatedly and continues to play even if he takes a loan if necessary. Such behavior is seen at a high level of addiction. Therefore, it is more reasonable to evaluate the person based on his behavior and decisions.
