Are you smart (forward-thinking) enough to ensure a safe and secure way to inherit your bitcoins? Or are you invulnerable and immortal? Smiley
I was not very serious about all these things before but lately I am taking it very seriously to leave Bitcoin holdings for my generation and transfer the security of my wallet. I will leave the remaining Bitcoin for my next generation after using it for my security and future needs. You have not received any Bitcoin from them as my inheritance but my next generation from me thinks it is a matter of pride. Earlier I had no one in the family except my wife and I but recently a new member has been added to my family and for his future security and future security, it is my responsibility to hold and save Bitcoin. That is why I have written down all my Bitcoin securities and when my child grows up and I grow old, I will transfer my Bitcoin as an asset to my child. And full preparations are going on for this.

It is good not to trust anyone when you have Bitcoin because we live in a world where people can no longer be trusted, but for me, as a person with children who will inherit his bitcoin, he should trust his family, even if it is his own wife, partner, or someone very close to you, because no one knows what will happen, a minute is a long time to see someone and then hear that they are no longer alive, but we pray to live a long life. As of now, I don't have anyone to inherit my bitcoin if anything happens to me besides my family, and there is one person in my life who knows about my bitcoin because I trust him, but the person doesn't know much about bitcoin. Although not everyone can trust their family because some families are very wicked but there are people we can still tell about our bitcoin because if anything happens to us, they should be able to inform the people who will inherit it.
Trust is something that has no guarantee, you can trust someone and they end up paying you back with evil regardless if how close you and the person can be, that is why we just need to be very careful with how we can trust people regardless of our relationship with them.

If you are your family person with kids, the best thing I think you can do is to educate them first, then share some insight about Bitcoin to some of them are they are growing older so that they can have some overview knowledge about it, and lastly, get one of them to tell them about your seed phrase when you see that they are grown enough to control your wallet when you are no more.

Of course, i’ve also given serious thought to my Bitcoin inheritance. Since i’m married, my wife is the first and only person i’ve told about where i keep my seed phrase, in case something were to happen to me. Admittedly, she doesn’t fully understand Bitcoin yet, but i’ve prepared several tutorial videos that explain the process step by step, from how to recover the wallet, access the assets, and send Bitcoin, all the way to converting it into our local currency through a trusted local exchange.

On the other hand, i’ve also started educating her about what Bitcoin is and why i hold it as a long-term asset (potential and benefits). My hope is that if one day i’m no longer here, my wife will still keep the majority of those Bitcoins as a long-term investment. Although i certainly hope to still be alive to see Bitcoin success in the future, and even though i’m working hard for my family, i also want to enjoy the rewards with them, lol.

Anything that is involved money none can be trusted not only the Bitcoin. The only people that are important to be trusted is family’s members, and even them not everyone in the family you will allow them to know all your secrets, because you don’t know who’s truly loved you with full heart you can see some be smiling doing well with you by the time your together, but they’ve something difference in their mind.

The only thing is that not matter how some of your family’s hate you they will be somes that will be good to you they will never be the same all, so among of those good ones you will select the one that you trust most which you know can able to handle your Bitcoin even when your not more again.

How do you have confidence that the Bitcoin will be inheritance?  I'm just having thoughts that the assets many people are suggesting here will be sold before you even leave the planet earth. For years now, most inheritance are used as soon as they get access to them which of course I don't see anything bad in it. I will like to have my asset liquidate before I die, I don't want to die and have my kids fight over what's supposed to unite everyone in my home.

Have you thought about if you decide to keep Bitcoin and it is to be shared among the kids and they have disagreement to hold and sell, these are the kind of likely outcome I fear will happen if Bitcoin are kept as inheritance for children. Why not teach them Bitcoin and let them invest in Bitcoin and makes them expect nothing from you, it's better that way than when they know you have kept some sats for them waiting to spend.

Your next generation would be lucky to have someone like you who care about their future and working towards giving them financial freedom with Bitcoin, not everyone had that opportunity not even you. However it's one thing to secure a better future but it's another thing to teach them how secure the asset you intend leaving for them, including teaching them to have an investment mentality so they'll pass it on to their next generation. I said because they may end up trading with it instead of continuing with the investment mentality you possess but if you guide them towards the path of investment, your effort won't be waste.

+1 to what you said.
We have heard about husbands killing wives, and wives killing husbands, while some divorce their husbands after they learn he's a millionaire or billionaire so that the jury could give them the portion of the man's hard-earned money. If people who divorce their husbands after knowing his net worth have the privilege of knowing the person's BTC private information, they can kill him if they have the chance.

Based on the question asked by the OP, this discussion is something that has to do with forward-thinking, so we can't give someone among our relatives the private information of our BTC without testing them with something that will show their true inner self, or else our plan in making the BTC an inheritance for kids/family will be a wasted effort, and the Bitcoiner can die untimely.

Your next generation would be lucky to have someone like you who care about their future and working towards giving them financial freedom with Bitcoin, not everyone had that opportunity not even you. I said because they may end up trading with it instead of continuing with the investment mentality you possess but if you guide them towards the path of investment, your effort won't be waste.

They are fortunate, but the problem now is that most people who inherit money and assets from others don't value them and end up spending them carelessly. This is how things are supposed to be, and from what we've seen, a lot of people handle what they inherit, and I'm sure some of them will even sell it right away. If I recall correctly, I saw someone make statements about not keeping any Bitcoin for anyone, and he made it clear that they have to work for themselves. However, I feel like you have a choice because they are your family.

And since it's an asset, there's nothing wrong with them selling it but using the money for something appropriate because you won't value what you didn't work for, so it's good. It will even be better for them to continue investing rather than trading because trading could cause them to lose everything. I really like your suggestion that they know exactly what they should do with it when you are no longer available and there are ways you will teach them the value of keeping it.

They are fortunate, but the problem now is that most people who inherit money and assets from others don't value them and end up spending them carelessly.
It's another thing and it is related to education as well as background you prepare for your children through education and challenge along their life pathways. Inheritance is another thing but surely if you want you children live a good life, without dependence on assets you give away to them as inheritance, and don't let it destroys their lives, you must do a lot of things for background developments. It includes education, occupation background and challenges to force them working carefully and hardly enough.

Quote
This is how things are supposed to be, and from what we've seen, a lot of people handle what they inherit, and I'm sure some of them will even sell it right away.
They can hold or they can sell, it's their rights. There is nothing wrong if they sell bitcoins inherited from you but how they use money after selling inherited bitcoins will have more meanings.

If they don't use it for drugs or anything that damages or destroys their lives, it's just fine and you can feel happy or even be proud of your children.

I think everyone would like to build a good fortune and pass some of it on to their children, but I'd also like to enjoy it, not just save it my whole life, so that someone else, even my children, can enjoy the fruits of my labor. I believe it's more important to teach them how to build their own wealth, rather than waiting for their father to hand it over to them so they can only spend what I've saved my entire life. I don't think Bitcoin will appreciate significantly in the future, but I do believe it's a good investment that can protect my money from inflation and generate a tangible return.

I am in the process of educating them. I really helped them to know about the concept of bitcoin along with how the fiat banking system works which they realized but they are not been taught about handling the wallets, they saw me doing it but I doubt they can do it on their own. Also, I tried to introduce them to the forum, not sure they ever created an account or engaged in any discussions.

Are you smart (forward-thinking) enough to ensure a safe and secure way to inherit your bitcoins? Or are you invulnerable and immortal? Smiley

I was curious to know what percentage of users on this forum had prepared their crypto assets for pass to heirs, and what percentage of them would create "lost access wallets".
I will choose the 2nd and erd options. Because I don't have an heir yet, I am unmarried, but when I will have a wife, I will make sure any of them will receive my bitcoins when I am no more, but I don't have any legal way yet to inherit my coins to them. Also, I don't have a lot of coins to inherit, as the amount I have is not going to change much, but something is better than nothing, so I will let my wife know whenever I have one, about my holdings in bitcoins and will tell her how she can access them.

But I also have to be careful, you know, haha. The world is moving fast, and we should trust only those whom we can trust right now. I don't know much, but I think she is trustworthy, as partners should be trustworthy. At least that's how you can create wealth, if your partner can't be trusted, then you can never be happy. That's what I have seen, but I think if you have the stomach to be stone hearted and not give any fucks about what they are thinking, then you can live peacefully.

Anyway, with kids it gets hard.

So yep, I am looking forward to inheriting my coins, and I think by the time I have them, I will also find a way.

I currently don't hold enough bitcoin to say it's worth an "inheritance", but my younger sister, who is the person I trust most with money and also my legal next of kin, can have access to where my seed phrase is if it's necessary. I have never thought about how my Bitcoin holdings can be inherited. It's probably because I'm still relatively young and don't have an amount that can be passed on to somebody yet, but my sister can get them if something happens to me, and she thinks about that, but I don't have anything official set up.

Different individuals have different reasons why they invest in bitcoin and if along the line they still feel there’s need to make some adjustments or a u-turn towards their initial plan then they have every right to do so. You know there are those who actually invest in bitcoin for a long term plan and in the course of doing that they usually thought it wise to at least let a member of their family in, could be wife, husband, son, daughter or a close ally. They mostly do it not because they are investing to be inherited by any one of them but simply because they wouldn’t want a situation whereby they are no more and their funds wasted, they don’t really tend to care much about what they do with the funds, all they just want is for the funds to be recovered incase they are no more. Just like the case of a local bank requesting for a next of kin, and since there’s no room for a next of kin In bitcoin they tend to just let a trusted ally in. For sure, bitcoin investment can also serve as a store of value which they can pass down to their children as inheritance but it will really take some effort to ensure that it doesn’t become an issue among them tomorrow.

Of course, when it comes to inheriting wealth we must think carefully while we're still alive, especially regarding Bitcoin assets which cannot be accessed unless we disclose them. No one knows how long a person will live, although we naturally want to enjoy the fruits of our labor in investing in Bitcoin. Nevertheless, we need to carefully consider leaving Bitcoin to those we trust rather than leaving our Bitcoins inaccessible when we die.

Perhaps the first thing we should do now is to explain what Bitcoin is and how it works to those we trust, such as our children or spouse. Especially since we live in an age of readily accessible information we can show or provide step by step video tutorials to make it easier for them to understand, while still remaining under our guidance. Essentially, before inheriting we need to gradually educate them about the long term value of Bitcoin, which is also important to prevent them from rushing to sell in an emotional situation.

Another consideration is to write a simple document that clearly contains instructions and the location of the seed phrase. I believe plans like this are excellent if executed correctly, so that even if we're no longer here those we trust can access them. While we never want anything undesirable to happen because we always hope for a long life, this kind of preparation demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility not only to our Bitcoin assets but also to our families.

I don't hold much bitcoin. I have little tokens in my wallet. If some miracle happens, those tokens might get value. I feel this to be very early to inform, and I haven't revealed anything particular. Even in any unexpected situation, my family can easily find all the information. I have common lock code for each and everything. Through this they can easily access my e-mail and if they're interested, they can go through one by one and recover if there is something left.

It is not the right choice to hold confidential information on cloud space, but to give an ease of accessing I've saved everything related to cryptocurrency on the e-mail. Over time this won't be much complex as now. There will be much advancement that ease the process of inheritance of cryptocurrency holdings. For now, it is completely upon trust, and it is also must educate people regarding the market as well as the adoption happening around the world. This helps the family members get interested towards cryptocurrency, even when they haven't heard much about cryptocurrency.

Nobody is immortal in this world, sooner or later we all will die some day and irony is that we don't know the date and time of our death. Death is not limited to old people but young people with good health also die on daily basis due to different reasons. We must take this aspect of Bitcoin seriously and must pass on our Bitcoin details to people who can use that in case we are no more in this world. If we don't do that exercise then our Bitcoins will be lost forever and no one can use it. I have prepared the details and will hand over them very soon to people I care.
You have positive thoughts and you don't want to destroy your family, There will be many such people who did not give any asset or Bitcoin to their family and now nobody knows the details of the address which they have, but he should try to pass these Bitcoins to next generation. If you are 40 year old and you have child then you should think about your family and child and don't be selfish then our family give prayer after death because we give them a lot of things when we will not be on the earth to take care of them . One Bitcoin is very costly and if person have hundreds of Bitcoins it is best for his family and he should give all details of his wallet and key phrases which are important to take backup of wallet .

I am investing in Bitcoin but if I don't tell my heirs about it then my Bitcoin will also be buried when I die. So I don't want my hard-earned money to be in such a situation. I told a trusted family member about Bitcoin. I also informed him about the importance of holding Bitcoin. I gave him an idea in advance about how to make transactions and use the seed phrase. I also showed him how to transfer Bitcoin. I also tried to inform him about the problem that can happen if his Bitcoin phrase is lost. I believe that he will definitely be able to access that money later.

In reality, there have been many cases where no one tries to tell anyone about Bitcoin. Considering laziness or security issues, many people do not tell their heirs at the right time. At some point, if something happens to them, then that hard-earned money has no value. If there are people who are saving Bitcoin but haven't told anyone about it yet, it's best to introduce them to Bitcoin as soon as possible without delay.

That is the spirit and the right thing to do as someone who has used, your hard earned money in investing in Bitcoin. It is imperative that we have a successor plan because one thing about life is no one knows what will happen in the next moment, so if your children's has come up to age , it's important to tell them about Bitcoin and how it works so that your Bitcoin can pass to the next generation. The best stage of life that someone can actually learn is in the developmental stage , when a child is growing is the best time to introducing our children to Bitcoin. With that they can get interest in Bitcoin and would like to know more about Bitcoin.

We can't be telling ourselves about Bitcoin actually going beyond this generation, if we don't tell our children about Bitcoin. Just as you send your children to school so that they can learn that is the way that you should educate your children about Bitcoin. We should learn to trust our  children and bring them close so that when the ultimate call of nature calls on us our bitcoin can succeed us and go to the next generation and not end with us.

I understand how you feel, and it seems that you're just getting started with your bitcoin Investment not quite long.  because if you had started your accumulation journey quite on time you would have been sleeping over 1btc depending on how consistent you are in your bitcoin accumulation, even though you don't get to that but at least you would have reach your investment target. And then you would have believe that it's worth an inheritance, but I must say that it is not too late for you to stack as much as you like. as a matter of fact, you're still much younger just be positive as nothing is going to happen to you.
