Be careful everyone, if you’re dealing off-site some scammers sending a token labeled as "LTC" to your wallet. Because it is a transaction on the blockchain, it will appear in your history and on block explorers like BscScan, creating a false sense of legitimacy. This token has no monetary value and is not backed by actual Litecoin.

(Fake)
TokenTracker
BEP-20: LTC (LTC)

(Real)
TokenTracker
Binance-Peg Litecoin (LTC)
https://bscscan.com/address/0x4338665cbb7b2485a8855a139b75d5e34ab0db94

Also ignore external links scammer may attempt to direct you to a website to "claim" or "verify" your funds. These are phishing sites designed to steal your seed phrase or private keys.
When in doubt, search for the token on CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko to confirm the correct contract address before performing any transactions.

The scam is not new, but it is very good that you posted about it so that some people can gain from it. Checking the smark contract of a token is very important.

It is worth knowing that it is not even litecoin, it is an altcoins backed by litecoin. Am I wrong?

Litecoin transaction is very cheap. Accepted in many places that major coins are accepted. I do not see a good reason to use such tokens. I prefer actual litecoin which is a coin and not a token.

There's only one Litecoin blockchain, and no other coin or token can be real Litecoin.
The one referred to as "Real" by Trêvoid is issued by Binance and is claimed to be backed by Litecoin. The other one is a scam.

Probably trying to imitate a potential project related to litecoin called LitVM ( Litecoin Virtual Machine). If they will have their tokens which will probably come out based on their site details but definitely not with a ticker LTC thats gonna be confusing. Apparently theres a legit Testnet related to litecoin. Hope the scammers wont gain any idea with this too to frame up Litecoin for another hocus focus scammy attempt.

This makes sense, considering their coin architecture, which also uses typical hexadecimal prefixes like EVM addresses. It appears the scammers started earlier than the mainnet, even though they had to target an irrelevant chain. Cheesy

You are correct; it is crucial to distinguish between native coins and tokens. Even "Binance-Peg LTC" is merely a wrapped token representing an asset on the BNB Chain, not Litecoin itself. As you noted, using native Litecoin is always the safer, more transparent choice compared to dealing with BEP-20 tokens that rely on third-party bridge trust.

Precisely. The distinction is vital: native Litecoin lives on its own blockchain, while everything else on BscScan is just a smart contract token.

That is a valid concern. Scammers frequently exploit the confusion surrounding new developments like LitVM to launch "pre-sale" or "airdrop" phishing scams. If a project is legitimate, they will clearly communicate their official tokenomics and contract addresses through verified channels. Always avoid tokens that appear unexpectedly in your wallet.

Staying diligent with contract addresses remains the best defense against these low-effort scams.
