PROTEUS
A sovereign layer-1 where mining means running AI, not burning electricity on hashes.
What it isPROTEUS is an independent layer-1 blockchain. It is not a token on someone else's chain and not a subnet: it has its own genesis, its own coin and its own parameters. The technology is a fork of subtensor (mono-token era) and the incentive mechanism is Yuma consensus.
The coin is
$PRTS. One token. There is no second token.
How mining worksYou point an Nvidia GPU at the network. It serves an open-weights language model through vLLM. A router sends real inference requests, scores the answers on quality, and emission is distributed in proportion to that score.
The work has value outside the consensus game. That is what proof of useful work means here: the electricity produces a model forward pass, not a discarded hash.

- Open weights quantized to AWQ 4-bit fit consumer cards
- Bigger models answer better, and better answers score higher
Requirements- Nvidia GPU with CUDA. 8 GB of VRAM is the realistic floor
- No CPU mining. No AMD. The task is heavy enough that only Nvidia GPUs are competitive
- Windows (desktop app) or Linux / WSL2 (docker compose)
- Behind CGNAT? A relay tunnels your node outbound, nothing to open on your box
Supply and emission- Hard cap: 21,000,000 $PRTS. Base unit is the rao (10^-9 PRTS)
- Genesis allocation: 1,050,000 PRTS, 5% of the cap, for development, infrastructure and initial liquidity
- The remaining 95% can only ever be created by the emission schedule. There is no other mint path
- Emission: 1 PRTS per block, around 7,200 per day at the 12-second target, halving over time
- Distribution is per tempo (360 blocks, roughly 72 minutes), not continuous
- Rewards land as stake, not as available balance. Unstake to make them spendable. This is the single thing that confuses everyone on day one
No presale. No airdrop. No private round.
The only ways to hold $PRTS are to mine it, or to receive it from someone who did.
There is no claim page and no token sale.
Nobody from this project will ever DM you first, or ask for your recovery phrase.
