It's a sweet win for Zepeda. So i proud of him by how he learned a lot from his fight against Shakur. Everyone just overrated Roach, and underrated him. So he proves it by himself with his relentless att. He landed so many pressures to Roach, and he makes Roach can't do nothing in this game.

So he deserves this win. Another fight to cook after this is that between him vs Mason.

I don't detest your choice but I am going for Roach Jr. who is better for his accuracy and ring control making him more of a better professional boxer with good techniques. Whereas, Zepeda may have worked on one or two of his flaws from his last encounter with Shakur, but his work rate might just be silenced by a more technical and calculative Roach.

Roach does nothing in this game. However, i still respect his humble defeat. Hope he does rematch with tank.

Shakur is just that good, that he can make Zepeda look ordinary. Zepeda is still a world class fighter with incredible stamina. I knew that the volume and pressure would be too much for Roach to handle. Even if he doesn’t have a lot of power, he wears you down with his constant attack.

There are several combinations of fights involving Tank, Mason, Zepeda and Roach that can be made. Lightweight can become a hot division if Tank returns.

^^ Let's see what's next for Zepeda, yes, that defeat against Shakur might not have any weight anymore. He rock Shakur on that fight, but Shakur is just too good for him. But against the next b-level opposition, Zepeda shows that he can bang with them.

Oscar is so hype right now with this win of Zepeda. And so he might have to line him up with those names and I think it will be a good match for Zepeda because of his power and that overwhelming type of offense.

So Roach lost this fight, I was wrong in my prediction as I thought that the technical boxer in Roach should overcome a volume puncher in Zepeda. The score in the judges scorecard is  117-111, 117-111, 118-110 to capture the vacant WBC lightweight title.

And now just the volume, but it has power too and perhaps that was the biggest problem with Roach as he hasn't face this kind of boxer. Roach try to counter, but it's not enough to stop Zepeda from moving forward and throwing a lot of punches that sooner or later is going to hit.

Have not seen the whole fight, only the highlights and i am right on my prediction that the volume of punches that Zepeda threw overwhelms Roach as he was having a hard time adjusting to it. With every 3-4 punches that Roach threw, Zepeda responded 8-12 on his own and not just the volume, it has power in it too.

Zepeda vs Tank Davis will surely be a good match if Tank decides to return to this division and will still bet for Zepeda when it happens. It is only Shakur that Zepeda was having trouble as Shakur is too slick and quick to counter.

I started watching the fight when they were in round 2 and i saw that Roach was having an upper hand till the end of that round.
So I already had the impression that okay, he was off to a good start and that was how it was gonna be through out the fight.
The tables started to turn from that round 3 upwards, Zepeda was throwing punches like he had six arms
Man!, his output was crazy.
Crazy cardio too; i never saw him gas out.

Roach wasn’t light on his feet enough, he stood in front of Zepeda too much; when you’re fighting a pressure fighter like Zepeda, you have to move a lot, make him miss and throw him off balance. You don’t just stand in front of him and eat shots, that was Roaches’s mistake.

Although Roach also had his moments too.
He was able to sneak in some crazy power shots too but most of the time, they were one hit punches with no follow ups and no combinations to back them up and this is also another reason why he couldn’t win that fight.

Yes, Shakur is slick as hell that's why Zepeda lost that fight although he has his moments. So it's going to be a interesting fight to see volume puncher vs another technical but knows how to brawl in Tank.

The problem though with Tank is that he has a lot of problems right now and it robs us to see him fight with good boxers until he get his life back. So congratulations to those who back up Zepeda here.

I didn't see this coming. I know Roach wasn't an overwhelming favourite, but as I said in my little analysis, Roach is the one who has had much harder and more experienced opponents in the past. Boxing technique made the difference here, but I think Roach had this kind of volume boxer against him before, or at least similar to Zepeda. But the judges' results speak for themselves, Roach would have needed a lucky punch because otherwise he didn't have much to counter Zepeda's style.

Now Zepeda finally added a win against very high level boxer to his records. Will bring him some respect because that win on the highest level was missing in my opinion. Numbers don't tell you too much if it's all against boxers who aren't considered highest level in the world.

Looks like many of us got this one wrong. We thought Roach would win based on what we saw from his previous fights.

A lot of us were still hyped because of his last fight with Davis, where many people believed Roach actually deserved the win. But this time, it showed that maybe he’s not really at that top level yet. His opponent was better than expected. Even as the underdog, he ended up dominating and won by unanimous decision.

I didn’t watch the full fight, but I’m not really surprised by the result. I’ll just check the highlights to see how convincing the win was. I also don’t think a rematch is likely since the result looked too one-sided.

Zepeda got so many motivation when he fought someone who has a higher level than him like Shakur. So happy to see if he can rematch vs Shakur someday. However, i'd like to see him to fight Mason. His fight against Mason will be hyped because Mason is just a better fighter than Roach. So it will give him a big challenge like when he fought Shakur.

That’s an interesting result. I’m wondering what the odds were before the fight for Zepeda to win by decision after 12 rounds. I’m guessing the odds were pretty high, especially since he ended up winning by a wide margin. He clearly dominated Roach in that fight.

I know that Zepeda can deliver an upset, but not the kind of upset where he totally dominates Lamont he has full of energy even in the last round, where he knows he is way ahead on the points.

That’s already a pretty big difference in the odds. If you convert +225 to decimal odds, that’s around 3.25, so your total return would be more than three times your stake if Zepeda won by decision. The knockout odds were probably even higher, but both fighters are very technical. That’s why betting on a decision made more sense than expecting either one to get a knockout.

With fighters like these, they usually don’t take too many reckless chances, so a decision was always a realistic outcome.
