He co-operated with French authority to handle that kind of issue after his arrest in France, why not his own country?
Telegram has always had scam problems. It's hard to be in telegram groups without scammers bothering the groups/members.
I follow news for many months now on how scammers recruits Russians especially the kids (between 15 to 22 or so) to launch terrorist atacks in Russia and rob Russians, yet this doesn't bother durov?
It's a typical Nigerian prince kind of scams and jiihadist kind of terrorism recruitments (via blackmail)
I have experienced them myself targeting people mostly from Russia on Hive telegram group. The issue was pervasive and they were aggressive about it. My thought then was that Russian government needs to intervene to help its people, and why durov isn't taking it very seriously.
By the way, from what I discovered, his attitude is ideological rather than negligence. He believes in low censorship and that kind of stuff, whether content is extremist or not. I think that in itself is extremism. I'm for censorship-resistance free speech by the way, but not at the detriment of the security of an entire nation or even an individual. If people are really recruiting others to kill, steal or harm, they should be stopped immediately. This is different from threatening speeches or insults
All you are doing is showing us some of the major reasons why governments should be shut down. Criminal organizations that are not governments are simply governments that have not grown into recognizable size or strength yet.
Durov is simply extending freedom. If people want to believe governments and scammers, sure, they are going to get burned. It might teach them, if they are smart enough to learn. Formally stealing freedom from people is what governments and scammers do, not Durov.
The reason why governments are somewhat peaceful, and why they make laws to protect the little people, is that they are getting rid of competition. And because people are so corrupt - especially when they get some power - is the reason why God lets governments exist the way they do. Fleece the people a little to protect them from criminal organizations that would fleece them a lot.
The difference with the American government is that it is set up to make ALL average people to be the government, individually. The USA is possibly the best total freedom government. But the people of America don't understand it or how it works. So they turn their authority over to the US government through agreements and contracts, which limit their freedom strength that is set in place right in the government documents.
