Not mandatory, but a privilege. Sure, you can learn a lot just by following tutorials, but there are limits, and you will probably pick and choose on different areas, while skipping some important context and information about safety.

About that generic AI.. Anyone who have tried to find information about something they already know a lot of, they soon start to realize that AI starts to hallucinate pretty quickly when there are hard enough questions from obscure subjects. You can’t just be going to school with the mindset or mentality that there’s just gonna be a job just lying around and waiting for you by to graduate and then you can grab it, especially in underdeveloped countries where job opportunities are not that available. I would not say that university education is bad,  but I don't think it's mandatory.  In my opinion I belive once you aquire high school or secondary school education,  you are good, but if you can afford a university education, you can also get a degree. If you are a bright student a high school of secondary school is a good one and you can aquire other skills, via AI or other means to help you in life. I really think skill acquisition is very important for every one despite your university education,  because it helps you create your own job, rather than looking for employment after you graduate from university.

I get your point, but what if you finish acquiring the university certificate and there are no well paid jobs available, what next? You’ll just sit and keep waiting for jobs right? I don’t know about others, but for me, one of the reasons why people go to school isn’t just to acquire certificates, in fact most times it’s not even about the certificates but the skills and experience, and with these skills and experiences, one could simply create opportunities for themselves and even for others.

Well, that's absolutely right. Actually, regardless of AI been made available for everyone to study in YouTube and internet, there Also a very big necessity go into formal education which is the classroom Education to have the experience, we have two types of education which are the formal and informal education so both are necessary at all cost for it to equipt us against the future. AI comes in as an informal education because it has no concret certificate to prove your compitency as an educated person like the formal education. Just as you said it we are being fooled with our own mentality when it comes to education, the kind of mindset we have when we are going to school is that after our education we will found a white collar job for ourself. I don't know where you 2 got your data or what personal experience you are basing this on when you say employers don't care much about university degrees. But from my experience and that of people I know, I can say that a degree is still one of the most common requirement, especially for office jobs and position that require specialized knowledge.

Skill and experience are also thing employers care about, but trust me and I would bet that without degree, you can be rejected at the first stage before you even get a chance to prove your skill and experience.

University Education isn't mandatory but an important in the aspect of personal development. Going to the advance learning environment gives you a lot of exposure and allows you meet different people from diverse background and your interaction with them on a steady note shapes your personality to learn better approaches to life and unlearn what you know that seems not to work anymore.

You learn more than just academics in a university setting, association with people teaches you social skills like being accommodating, tolerant and even team work to a high level and such good attitudes is prioritized in recruiting firms.
