University is not for everyone. It's expensive, and not everyone can afford it or even needs it. There are so many skills you can learn online now that can get you a good job without a degree. That doesn't mean university is useless. For more special careers like the science ones or law and even some delicate engineering fields, you still need it. But for many other fields, what you can do matters more than where you studied, especially in information technology space.

Definitely university is not for everyone and not mandatory for someone to be successful, when it comes to success there's every opportunity for someone that does not smell the university to hire graduate to work for him. Passing through University is very important but that doesn't stop you from being successful. It's a choice to go to university whether you're from rich home or poor home, the family has to look out for rhe possible means to make you self employed first before university,  degree will not make you achieve your goals alone you need to work your ass out to be rich , if you keep chasing degrees it will take much time to be self-independent.

Because of many students now try to use AI to make homework or write their diplomas, and use AI to apply for a job and even dedicate work to AI, university certificate slowly turns into waste 4 years of life. Compared to school, at university students feel more freedom. Many did not even attend classes and pass exams by cheating. I have plenty of examples how "below average school students and badly managed to get a diploma later" got well paid jobs. I have plenty of examples when students with MBA diploma work on a construction sites (however some of them worked there because they were paid there more).

My grandmother always says to us that the best parent can do for their children, no matter how poor they are, is to sponsor the child to a level where they will be able to know how to read and understand what's written in English. That alone is okay. If the family is not that wealthy enough, instead of struggling to send the child to university or whatever higher degree program sends them to learn a skill, there is nothing better than when a child has something doing that can fetch them money.

Lol, are you really serious? I get your point though. Things are changing and the world is no longer the way it was. AI is taking over and so many things have changed. But I don't think the importance of education will fade away, nope.

Even though they would want to plant AI tools in there brain as you predicted, it will still require professional knowledge(education) to do so. Look, any person must enter school to get primary education, if a person does not gain knowledge or does not enter school at this primary level, then that person is definitely the most stupid. However, AI management and Google have made the work of people much easier, but to get education, schools and educational institutions are definitely needed. In 2026, Tertiary institutions like University doesn't even seem that important as Jobs are being change from the conditional ready diploma employment but heavily on skill set especially with new trend, still some University over some of this courses but I don't think it's mandatory but recommended. That's only true for some field like programming, marketing or some jobs related to tech. But for many other fields like medicine, law, university degree and professional knowledge are still very important, even mandatory.

And just because some jobs do not require a degree does not mean it's useless. It can still help in many cases. Having both skills and a degree obviously gives you more advantage than having only one of them.
