Has Social Media Made Society More Informed or More Divided?

Social media also rewards attention. Whatever you post, if it captiviting even though it is misconception - you'll get rewarded if it's attracts attention. So I wouldn't say social media is bad or good. I will simply say it all depends on who uses it and for what. But not also removing the fact that it can also shape human behaviour.

The thing about the social media is that it has advantages and disadvantages. Before people’s describe it as a bad platform as they said it don’t allow the students to face their studies, which some stated that when the social media was never exist students where very serious with their studies.

And could imagine that today is this same social media that serve a lots of the people especially the students they find it very useful than uneducated people, because this social media platform has been a great source of inspiration for many people, since it has be a way of survival for the youths.

Social media has been helpful in many ways to humans for example, social media has made it possible for the fast spreading of news, people can start up small business through social media, social media have made it possible for communities to organize charity work and raise awareness for important issues.

In another way social media has also caused harm to the society for example, social media has made false information to spread very fast thereby causing issues between people, social media has also made bullying and harassment very common, social media has also destroyed the unity in a family, if you check in many families a lot of them don't communicate with each other anymore because of social media.

So has social media caused more harm than good in our society?

From my own personal review of this question…I don't even see it as 100% harmful to humans it has been a lot of help to humans' lifestyle, and it also depends on what it is used for, and let's not forget that in life anything that is  reasonable has advantage and disadvantage, talking about how it's harmful most of the time the teenagers flex their powers on creating social media pages that bring fear faster, Do you know that one viral lie can reach 10M people before the fact-check gets 100 views. Politics, health, finance all of it gets twisted. So such is life..

The main weakness of social media is the ineffective enforcement of penalties for violating its own terms of use. The average social media user behaves impulsively, leading them to compare their lives to others and publicize private matters.

I've found statistics on social media users that show my country as one of the world's largest and most active contributors. It's no wonder that social media has transformed many personalities and lifestyles in my community. Not to mention other potential impacts, such as exposure to fraud, mental health issues, and data theft.

So has social media caused more harm than good in our society?

Everything that has an advantage still has some disadvantage when you look at it from other perspectives. It doesn't always mean that because it has some disadvantages that it's actually wrong, it rather means that while you're gaining from it, Same thing can still harm you.

Same social media that a lot of influencers have gotten wealthy through has resulted to the downfall of others. Some are now addicted to the use of gadgets that the can no longer concentrate on work. Personally, my reading culture have strongly been hampered by social media but at the same time, my exposure to different ideas about life and the world in general have been sharpened though social media. Same social media that can bring propaganda can still bring a more detailed and balanced information about societal subject matter.

I don't know why some countries restrict and impose strict regulations on their citizens who uses social media but that is not the right thing to do since most social media platforms already has their community standards that goes against violation of their rules.
There are many fake news on the Internet, not only on social media and it has become a norm for people who are looking for engagement in their post but we should be very careful and verify every information we see on social media.

Social media addiction is more common than we realize, atleast 95% of the people are suffering from it and the major reason for it is social media and the government don't have any idea to regulate it, which is why they are banning it with the hope of people switching to other things but no, it won't work like that.

We have benefits from social media but how people are using it makes them trapped virtually, even though they are free to do anything, they simply choose to scroll for endless of hours which is good for the social media companies but for the people no, it is really bad.
