Can so called non-profit org qualify as profitable business

Many tend to assume that unless one is in "business" to make money it shouldn't qualify as for-profit organization or business. But considering the fact that profit in economic sense is simply getting more money than you invest, shouldn't it also include getting more values or benefits than you invest, which shouldn't necessarily mean financial benefits and investments. If you establish a decentralized Bitcoin marketplace or so called non-profit organization, and you gain more than you invested, to the extent of being sustainable enough or able to support it without external or additional support (support coming outside of the business) , doesn't that qualify as profitable business/investment . I think it should since the extra benefit or value created can support the business.
 Imagine having an organization that focuses on tree planting or creating some sort of permaculture in deserts, free of charge, and after investing heavily in a place as large as 1000 soccer/football fields,  grasses, plants, trees begin to grow, and humans and animals settle there to form a thriving community that can sustain itself. Same is applicable to the creation of Network like Bitcoin. The intention wasn't really profit making but to have an good alternative to fiat system, yet it's thriving and quite sustainable, which seems to suggest that if the intention is right and it's well built, it will eventually be profitable. We could apply this ideals in the building of the right stuff like decentralized exchanges, marketplaces, etc, and not worry too much about financial profits since they could eventually become thriving ecosystems if well built.

A non-profit organization from my understanding could be a registered business or organization, but it can't be said to be a profitable business even though it has enough funds in its coffers because the funds are strictly meant for the purpose for which it was created for in the first place.

Get it clear, non profit organization can be a business or company, they operate like every other company that does work or does business for profit. They employ people to work in the company with full pay for their service, while a few may choose to volunteer.

However, this organization, at the end of every month, calculate their profits, pays employees and other payable expenses, but no private entity gets the remaining profits, these profits are mostly spent on charities or used in the expansion of the organization. I am aware that some essential Bitcoin-related services that are not designed for profit maximisation accept donations to stay afloat. Why are you trying to confuse the purpose of a charity? Yes, charities can make a profit on their quest to give money to their cause. However there are likely to be strict laws and minimum amounts that they must contribute in order to qualify for this type of business. A charity shouldn't really be getting involved in some sophisticated scheme like you propose and should always be acting ethically in the pursuit of their goals. They may also have paid staff who should be on a reasonable wage, but they might supplement that with volunteers. You're missing the whole point that such a business would end up sending the money it raises into research or directly supporting a specific task - not into the pockets of shareholders like other companies.

And it is true that the misappropriation of non-profit to enrich select few administrators is a bitter note. The fact that any person is ready to use empathy of society to live lavishly obviously violates the tradition of true charity. Although this ethical digression is nothing more than greed on the part of individuals, its consequences discredit the social sector. A no-go criterion in distinguishing the institutions of manipulation and the truly caring foundations is transparency on financial auditing.

Well said. Most of the scammers these days are no longer coming from single scams, but these are exactly the people who we come to elect as public officials and use non-profitable organizations as their project leaving us thinking that we aren't seeing what's happening under the table.

And worst is, they often act as good samaritans that prioritize the welfare of the people, when in fact they fill their pockets first with those government funds and the remaining left who are already insufficient in amount are what goes to the public charities and foundations. That's why I'm not surprised why so many people do not support non-profit organizations nowadays.

Calling them scammers with little to no evidence is kinda naive too imo. Sometimes I see people pointing out some videos or articles to support their believe, but they don't even verify the information. Sometimes failed to notice that the writer also has an agenda based on their network and whatnot. It's pretty easy to put label into things without any credibility.

But anyway, mixing legal terms and philosophical mission seems a bit off too. Trying to draw analogy of an organization trying to preserve forest habitat with Bitcoin miing is a bit too much imo.

Non-profit organizations are businesses like any other, since there are people making a living from it. The catch is that they claim to be just volunteers for a major cause which involve charity, environmental protection and so on, so they get public funds due to their partnership with governments they are ideologically alligned. Non-profit organizations are more than businesses, they are political arms or extensions of governments.

What I think to be most interesting about non-profit organizations is the fact they never attack the cause of the issues, but the consequences. They do the palliative work of perpetuating precariousness.
