@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I GOT tracking today. I will review it here.

I will review it on YouTube.

Please note I paid full price and got a small discount for prior customer purchase back in 2021. Along with a discount for paying with btc.

I purchased it without ssd. I have two 2tb nvme.2 ssds

I will attempt to do a mirror ssd with it.

It is shipping from Texas to me in New Jersey.

Feel free to comment.

Does it make sense to buy an expensive hard drive and pay for a more expensive version of the device to run your own node?
How long will it take this device to download the entire Bitcoin blockchain and run the node?
Isn't $1,100 plus the cost of the SSD drive too expensive for 18 TH/s?

Crypto enthusiasts typically enjoy DIY and are looking for affordable solutions. $1,000 per device is expensive even for the average US citizen with an average salary.

It seems fanatical when customers are willing to pay huge sums for a company's products.

Not sure if you've seen the state of consumer electronics currently but AI has pushed prices of anything with flash memory up to crazy figures. Coupled that with relatively low volume, bespoke hardware made in USA and not somewhere like China and here we are....

Good thing is, no one is forcing you to buy

I've already mentioned that if new equipment is expensive, you can buy an old S19 ASIC and start mining with just one board. This will require either additional firmware or a different controller. You can also set up a node and pool on your own PC if you don't trust other solo pools.

It's an enthusiast device, quality built. Not something you're gonna make ROI on

I usually describe it as a hobby device. You don't make money restoring old cars, you don't make money riding motorcycles, you don't make money brewing your own beer, and so on.
There are ways to make money mining bitcoin, using a device like this is not it. But it is enjoyable to tinker with.

And, still did not get my tracking #.

I  buy it because I purchased everything he ever sold.

And i hit a block of ltc+doge with his ltc miner.

Held the doge and sold at 17 cents a coin.

I made about 2k on  that mIner

He the builder helped with l3 miners that saved me about 2.5 kwatts an hour for a year.

Does it make sense to set up my own node on this device now, or is it easier to save money and buy a version without native node support? I don't really understand the point of having my own node when my hashrate is 18 terahashes.

The whole concept behind FutureBit and Apollo devices is a plug and play solo node + miner with essentially zero config. It's for people that want to solo/lottery mine without needing complicated DYI setups.

Standalone nodes cost 500-800 these days before you even include the SSD drive...add a 12TH miner (even a cheap chinese home miner in the same TH range) you are over 1099.

Add a $400 2TB SSD drive that is not junk and there you go.

And of course thats not taking into account high quality made in the USA engineering, Apollo OS, plug and play etc.

Obviously most of that is not for people on this forum...its for people that want to take a deeper dive into bitcoin without the extra hassle.

Unfortunately we are going to need to increase our prices further to sustain this as we had supplies locked in prior to the major component cost spikes over the last 6 months.

I looked up the information on the official website about the models. The Apollo III Full Node costs $1099 and is sold without an SSD. There's also an Apollo III Standard model for $899, which doesn't have the ability to deploy a node. I can buy a device for $200+400 cheaper and direct my hashrate to another solo pool.
I wanted to ask why I should spend money on my own node and pay an extra $600 if it doesn't increase my chances of success.

Well one reason is more nodes are better for the network than less nodes.

Ie 1000 plus nodes in 100 countries helps secure the network.

more than 100 nodes in 10 countries.

loading the blockchain for around 25 minutes so far.

I have fast internet my net speed is 1gb

this node is loading at 1gb a minute around 36gb in33 minutes so far

not sure that my 2 name.2 ssds are working or just 1 of them.

I did install 2 of them.

Also this unit came with a free coinkite card. not sure about that card.

check this out.

AI Overview
Yes, Coinkite experienced a major security incident involving a critical firmware flaw in its Coldcard hardware wallets that has led to over $100 million in Bitcoin being stolen. The vulnerability caused certain firmware versions to generate predictable wallet seed phrases instead of using true random generation, allowing attackers to reconstruct private keys offline.

What Happened
The Flaw: A software bug in specific older firmware builds bypassed the hardware's true random number generator, resulting in weak entropy when creating recovery phrases.

The Impact: Attackers used the predictable math to reverse-engineer private keys and drain thousands of addresses without physically touching or remotely hacking the devices.

Fox Business

The Response: Coinkite acknowledged the issue, halted vulnerable shipments, and released patched firmware, but emphasized that updating the software does not fix already compromised seed phrases.

What You Should Do
Move Funds: If you generated a wallet seed on an affected Coldcard device, you must create a brand-new wallet with a secure, independent seed phrase and migrate your funds immediately.

Check Status: Visit the official Coinkite Blog for detailed advisories on which specific firmware versions and hardware models are implicated.
If you'd like, tell me:
Which Coldcard model you own
Approximately when you generated your seed phrase
I can help you figure out if your specific setup falls into the vulnerable window.

So don't use the card.

to be fair the unit was shipped with the card before the hack of coldcard

and I think future bit send an email to me about it.

RE: Satscard

We have independently reviewed the satscard design and shares zero code with any coldcard or product from coinkite.

The card actually runs a small chip card os call javacard os, which is used by visa and billions of cards worldwide. The crypto functions it generates for seeds is the exact same RNG function used by almost every credit card.

They are safe for short term "hot wallet" storage and easy setup.

I actually like these cards so much will develop our own if coinkite does not survive this (which I doubt that it would).

philipma1957, if you're asking me to pay an extra $600 for Bitcoin blockchain security, I'll refuse. Besides the $600 overpayment, I'll also incur increased energy consumption due to running the node. You might think I'm greedy, but I want to make money mining too.

I understand you but you simply are not the customer for this item.

would you buy this item below?

https://www.zoro.com/stiletto-tibone-milledcurved-hammer-15-oz-head-milled-straight-claw-head-titanium-head-1734-in-oal-tib15mc/i/G916044706/

it is hi quality better than this one

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B089S9B49G/?

you and I would both buy the one from amazon.

I have a drink every once in a while.

here is a very good tequila I have a bottle of it and it is not cheap.

https://sipwhiskey.com/products/dos-artes-anejo-reserva?

when it runs out I will get another.

but I won't buy this one.

https://woodencork.com/products/dos-artes-extra-anejo-1l?

it is 8x the price it is better than the one I have but I am not the customer for it.

on the other hand I won't buy this https://www.oldtowntequila.com/ignite-blanco-tequila-750ml/

as it is harsh as compared to the one I like.

also I do not drink a lot and get drunk so I taste what I drink.

So I am a customer for the 109 usd bottle not the 35 usd or the 999 usd bottles.

but for free I would take the 999 usd bottle

and for free I would take the 400usd hammer.
