Investors often celebrate when either of two things happens: Bitcoin starts making a strong bullish move, or they finally get to sell at a profit. While both are worth celebrating, I think the real work was already done long before then. The quality of your entry into Bitcoin usually has a much bigger impact on your profit than what happens the day you decide to exit. That's why investors should pay more attention to how they buy than to constantly wait for Bitcoin to hit a new all-time high or a set out exit price.

If two investors sells at the same price but one accumulated during a bear market while the other bought near the top out of FOMO, their profits won't even be close. The market rewards patience more than excitement. That's why  corrections is not something to fear. Moreover, correction offers the best opportunities to improve your average entry price.

A good selling strategy still matters, but it cannot completely fix a poor buying routine. Chasing green candles, buying because everyone is bullish, or trying to recover losses with emotional trades usually does more harm than good.

An effective long-term profitability in Bitcoin comes from discipline, patience, and understanding that the market often rewards those who are willing to buy in times that confidence might appear low.

Whenever you invest in Bitcoin at a particular price range, then it is obvious for you to be able to know the entry point you are taking over the market and also give it some time to see your investment matured before selling, as an investor, you will be able to know what you have realized already before selling because it will be reflecting on your balance what has increased over your initial investment.

This one caught my attention!
I like the fact that people have started waking up and breaking away from the wrong ideology of buy and buy without any brake or measure. Years back, it was as if it's me against all the maximalists and bigots on this forum, and since they are reputable members, most members shies away.

It's simple, no one is saying don't buy Bitcoin, but buy Bitcoin carefully. Imagine when Bitcoin was at $126,000+, do you know some people still bought it there? Fine, it will later edge into profits, but is that smart if you compare it to those who bought at $65,000, for example? The math might still look unrealistic, but when both leave their Bitcoin to be liquidated at $500,000 is when they will know the huge difference, especially if the volume is large.

The importance of continuous accumulation of Bitcoin cannot be overemphasized because it does good all time long, especially if you are cut out for a long term HODL. You know, you may not feel it or see the good since you are still accumulating, and /or the price is still not as you want it. But the more you keep going, the more your portfolio keeps growing, and the more possible profit you may make in a long run.

Thus, paying much attention to how much profit you will make and when this profit will begin to step in might be a deterrent to a purposeful accumulation phase, perhaps, you may not do it with full zeal and with a hopeful mind. Going by your topic, surely, it is, because, even before you sell, maybe begin to sell at when you have reached a certain portfolio size or for any reason, depending on the current price, it's becomes clear for what you have already accumulated before then wether you will be at gain or loss

To add to what Op has pointed out. A good buying habit is not all about price but what your financial situation is telling you. Someone can buy at a good price and the problem is that, the funds used to do that purchase is money meant for something very important. That's removes the profit target and makes that person sell early. So buying with funds that are not needed is very important. Such funds are called discretionary income.

And another thing. Op made mention of the process before one gets to the hat happy stage. There's discipline, patience, consistency you name all. Those habits helps one make better decisions. This is a whole lot. But if you deal with them one by one, you will be far far ahead of those trying to deal with all at the sametime.

Some investors claim to be smart, they don’t want to pass through consistent buying of bitcoin whenever they have available money, they will rather save the money in fiat or stable coin waiting for opportunity, some of them see some dip as something that will not recover, and will tends to only invest once they sense or see the market has started taking shape; meanwhile investors that used DCA to buy always at any price, and some investors that buy the dip will also sell at higher price and will have more profit than you that waited for bull run to invest.

Trust, patience, consistency, and dedication are what makes you a good investors, you can’t lack some of these factors and be an investor, you will panic sell at lower price.

Every time is a good entry point, it’s depends on how you want to go on with the investment imo because if you’ll continue NCA then you can start the process at any time regardless, but for lump sum it’d be more better if you get the opportunity to buy very low during the bear season.

But for a real Long-term investor the Entry price wouldn’t matter in the long run, let’s take for instance someone that bought bitcoin at the ATH in 2013 which is above $1k and someone that bought bitcoin the same year at a significant lesser amount probably close to the ATL for 2013 which is around $13 and they both decided to sell at the same time when the price hits $100k last year.

They both get lots of profit to the extent that the profit difference doesn’t even matter much anymore, the person that got it for the ATH has $99k as profit while the other has $99k+$987 profit, you can see the difference doesn’t matter much again just $987.

That’s why an investor should position himself strategically in the market to yield the highest possible reward but holding through a bear market is certainly not easy.. it requires a strong conviction about bitcoin and sound understanding of the market.

That's if you had bought all at once, and that's why DCA is encouraged.

So it depends on your strategy and what your plans are. If you have a long-term target, you should have no worries that you bought at $126k because if we fast-forward back to history, take you for instance, do people that purchased Bitcoin at $10k, $20k, and $30k have to worry today? No. The $126k today might seem very high when you buy for the short term, but for the long-term target, I don't see a need for one to worry about, and if you are buying using the DCA method.

That's funny, you know!

One thing I've noticed with you guys is that you overrate DCA approach too much. Fine, the DCA strategy is cool, but certainly not in all situations, and you would be getting it wrong if you think it's perfect. Go and look at your chart at that time. Assuming you had the money in 10 parts and you planned to inject each part every week. Do you think it could sustain a long-term low price? If you started in July 2025 at the week where a noticeable high first happened. You would have injected all even before the main ATH happened. So what?

I'll like to add that a good entry isn't always all about having the best timing of when the price is at it's lowest. Buying an amount you can confidently hold through volatility is also a good entry regardless of the price as at the time you bought. You can buy at a very profitable price but the level of your investment might just be higher than you can emotionally handle so you end up panic-selling at the first dip.

So how about people who bought Bitcoin at $10,000 per BTC, haven't those people made profits? Because to me I see absolutely nothing wrong with people who bought Bitcoin last when it's value was around $126,000 per BTC. Because nobody knew it's value will later fall to $63k that it is today, and likewise nobody knows how far it's value will also skyrocket in the future too. Hence, inasmuch as your goal and plan for accumulating Bitcoin is long term, I strongly advise and believe that there is nothing wrong with constantly buying and storing your Bitcoin for future investments plans. Because the same people who failed to buy Bitcoin when its price was $126k per BTC and are still procrastinating. That's how they will regret later in the future when Bitcoin hits a million

Did you think it through before asking this question and resorting to your belief?
I strongly doubt that because, first off, I never said those who bought at about $126,000 would eventually lose their money. The vast distinction between such an investor and the person who bought it at about $65,000 is the profit margin, which will be insane in decades, especially if the money involved is big. Didn't you see that?

Besides, you would be making a big mistake if you think that Bitcoin's earning grace at $10,000 is the same as Bitcoin earning grace at $126,000. Perhaps, you should read about "Diminishing Returns Theory" by Benjamin Cowen and "Bitcoin Power Law Theory" by Giovanni Santostasi. I knew this would happen even before reading from these guys. It’s just a misconception from the both parties, what I understood from the both replies is that, earnOnVictor is making reference to the folks that follows trend to buy, that is they wait until the market is on a strong bullish trend before entering the market which is not ideal,, rather buying when the price is low and maintaining that consistency until you’ve seen a good profit on your portfolio before thinking of selling.

While Chinesebaby is making reference to those folks that has one way or the other heard about Bitcoin but kept  on procrastinating in the stead of jumping on the opportunity before them.
Let’s be realistic here, with the performance of Bitcoin price, it’s most certain that those persons who bought at $126,000+ would have likely sold in losses, exception of those that have grown conviction in Bitcoin and  are actively consistent. It only takes does that have conviction and discipline to be able to hold unto their Bitcoin during the bearish trend as we have before us. Secondly folk should try to imbibe the mindset that Bitcoin correction phase is not a time to shy away from the market rather, it’s an opportunity to add to your portfolio at a cheaper rate.

I think you have it wrong my friend. I don’t know any investor who would want to wait till price starts pumping before they buy unless they’re just newbies and beginners investing in bitcoin… Or maybe you’re talking about traders and those who wait for the dips cos this are the people I can think of who FOMO.

Also, you don’t have to measure your profit against that of another, it’s not a competition and each individual have different financial capabilities.
If you’re truly an investor in bitcoin, you won’t be worried so much about entry points only traders are interested in short term gains.
If you’re comparing an investor who buys consistently and that who waits for corrections before they buy, in a long period of time you’ll find out that consistency beats the dip.
Bitcoin is a long term investment and should be seen as such.

Entry matters too. You can't compare a person that invested in Bitcoin at $60K to a person that bought today at $63k, the difference is not that much until you compare the price and quantity you could get with that $3k differences and it's still better than a person that bought at $120, this one difference is so clear that you can get 1.4x the amount if you buy today. However, this is not guarantee, you time in the market and when you have the money to buy is the real deal.

The people I know that actually beat this are the people with DCA and income. There people with high level of discretional income, they much t go around and I think they are the people that can enjoy this privilege of every market direction, they buy and at every opportunity and sell when the market has fully make recovery and some continued to buy because they know that some of their entries might not be retouched again just like the way $40k is now thing of the past.

I agree with you on how Bitcoin is more profitable as a long term investment rather than a short term investment but one thing to remember is that the point of entry determines profitability than the point of exit.

Those investors who buy during the bear market season i believe, gain possession of more Sats than those who don't and while the return on investment is a product of discipline and risk management woven into one, volatilities can't destroy what was consistently accumulated over a long term duration of investment in Bitcoin.

This one caught my attention!
I like the fact that people have started waking up and breaking away from the wrong ideology of buy and buy without any brake or measure. Years back, it was as if it's me against all the maximalists and bigots on this forum, and since they are reputable members, most members shies away.
Knowledge and smart decision making is key, when trading the spot market or if you are hoping to make some profit in a short space of time.

Buying the dip is the best time to buy to most investors because they knows that when the asset they bought appreciate, they can easily be in a profit, but if they bought at the top or close to the top, the asset they bought will have to do very well or extremely well to beat that amount they bought from, which is very unlikely in a short timeframe, so it's because of that investors and spot traders prefer waiting for the dip to buy at a more better price, than just buying without paying much attention to the price, since profit is the end goal of every trader.

Yes brother, It doesn't matter how cheap or higher we buy Bitcoin, the main goal of an investor is to buy Bitcoin and hold it for the long term. To buy Bitcoin, use money that allows you to hold Bitcoin for the long term with confidence, no matter how dire the market situation is.

To buy Bitcoin and hold it for the long term, it is important for an investor to have knowledge about Bitcoin. As a result, the investor can hold Bitcoin for the long term with confidence despite the volatility of the market. Bitcoin is definitely a long-term relationship, so to achieve success through investment, one must manage the investment consistently for a long time with discipline and wait for good times in the future, as a result of which one can get profit from Bitcoin in the long term.
