HOW TIMING AND MATURITY PERIOD IN INVESTMENT AFFECT BTC GROWTH AND GAINS
In investment for long term, especially with a digital asset that is scheduled to halve its block subsidy every 210,000 blocks (about 4 years), the sooner you participate in the market, the better because you will have both more time and more ability to accumulate bitcoins than late comers.
Timing the market is not important.
WHAT IF?
If they (his team) had waited till 2018 when the unit price of BTC was about $17k, he would have amassed up to approximately $8m from 463 units. To play the devil's advocate, if they waited three more years up to 2021 when the value of BTC stood at $69k at its peak in November, then he would have been worth around $31.9m.
No one knows about the future especially in earliest years of Bitcoin when it was weak, adoption was unknown, risk of death was actually higher than it has now and will have in the future.
If people want to take profit, and actually do that, it's good, nothing is bad with that action. It is only bad if they already bought bitcoin, a good investment asset, but later sold for loss with panic.
I won't tell them that they made a mistake in this story because if I told them that they made a mistake, then someone would have to assume that "
Pizza for bitcoins?" was a mistake, because here they only got two pizzas with 10,000 bitcoins.
That is a famous Bitcoin pizza trade but the pizza buyer (Laszlo Hanyecz) actually spent more than 10,000 bitcoins for pizzas.

“We would just give people bitcoin on the forum,” he said — sometimes 100, sometimes 1,000 BTC at a time.
“I wanted to do the pizza thing because to me it was free pizza,” Hanyecz explained. “I mean, I coded this thing and mined bitcoin and I felt like I was winning the internet that day. I got pizza for contributing to an open-source project. Usually hobbies are a time sink and money sink, and in this case, my hobby bought me dinner.”
