Coldcard Wallet is used in the North America countries like US, Canada, in European countries like Germany, Uk and Switzerland in Asia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia in Latin American Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and in the Middle East UAE, Saudi Arabia and that is why it is popular in those countries. And people were using it because of its security of PSBT (Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions) and it trust with custodian in nature.

A software vulnerability firmware (bug) in Coldcard wallet has led to the theft of nearly 600 BTC which is approximately $38 million ongoing exploit.

"The incident is raising broader questions about self-custody security and whether managing private keys is too risky for everyday investors. Analysts suggest the breach could push some Bitcoin holders toward ETFs as a custodied alternative."

Is custodial wallets are realy secured?

Self custody still remains the best choice for a wallet but still subjected to if you’re doing it right. Example is going for open source, trying to generate your own seed phrase and then backing up your seed phrases proper plus passphrase too
