‎Who will win the 2026 Ballon D'or?

Ousmane Dembélé is the favorite to win again, he achieved more than any other players,  winning the champions and his domestic league titles is enough reason to win the Ballon D'Or this year again,  he performed well in the world cup scoring four goals with France. He remains the favorite to win,  Mbappe is another contender but he won zero trophy this season with Real Madrid, he's top scorer in all the competition this season with Real Madrid,  he is top scorers in the world cup, he's still a favorite but Dembele will win it again.

in the second statistic which is Major Trophies/Awards, he may beat other players but in the first statistic he is very far behind so i think that second statistics will be his advantage while the first will be his disadvantage and i do not think the second statistics will be enough reason to give him the award. However, i feel the players that are more likely to win the award is between Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal and if not for the world cup i think Dembele would have still stand a chance to win compare to Rodri.

Rodri is far from it because all Spain players won the world cup which is the only advantage Rodri has. Yamal is even in a better position to win it than Rodri.

Yamal is young and that is a good advantage for him to win voted as the winner but I don't think that he will win it. Mbappe is also there.

I don't see any logical reason to include Rodri in this list. He has team success, but if he doesn't have any significant personal achievements, I don't think there's any point in including him. He has influence in the team and it wouldn't be wrong to call him the second coach of the team, but I don't know of any trophy for that.

If the Ballon d'Or were to be announced based on performance, players like Mbappe, Harry Kane or Lamine Yamal could be announced. Rodri is still far from these three players and in terms of team achievements, he is also behind Lamine Yamal. I don't think the World Cup Best Player medal next to his name is worthy. There were other players who deserved this medal.

Do you expect Ronaldo to throw his weight behind Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, or any other player? Of course, not. His choice will be Mbappe. Ronaldo is being biased, and I'm not surprised because he's an ex-Real Madrid star. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much. His opinion won't really matter. Also, I read your initial post where you made a compelling argument why you think Kane will win the Ballon d'Or, and you are indeed spot on.

He is not a honest person, didn't he played with Spain and was later removed. Did he not see how Yamal was calming him down but I know he will not give good comments because Yamal is from a rival club, as a public figure, he is supposed to be neutral and isn't like his opinion matters here, he can't influence the win, he is a regular players like others that loss in the world cup, it's even disrespectful for not looking at Kane and Yamal.

You know it make sense if Ronaldo nominate Mbape because this season is very similar to what Ronaldo did back in 2013 and he ended up winning the Balon D'or, so it's nothing new if Mbape is his favorite. Till to date, the public opinion is different from what we have what was giving to him. If they are to be real about Balon D'or winning the times they won everything, maybe he will only have 1 or two to win but they favor him that'd why he thinks football revolves around him.

The Balon d'Or is not a trophy given for only winning most trophies, they are other factors like; Individual performance, fair play ( The players behaviour, sportsmanship). Dembele only won trophies, although he had a good individual performance, but I think Yamal did better. You seem more focused on achievements, and you didn't notice that Yamal even had more achievements last season than Dembele.

For me, I think Yamal deserves to win this time around, he is qualified in all ways, whether trophies, individual performance and fair play. Another player I think deserves the award is Harry kane, he was outstanding in all competitions, he scored many goals and won trophies as well. Worthy to be mentioned here also is Mbappé

When it comes something like the Ballon D'or, we could say that nothing is completely certain and people can only provide their opinions which are hopefully backed up with good analysis and reasoning. It is a bit similar to the World Cup because in some cases even if a team was quite expected to win, in the end for some reason they did not. In some previous years there was an obvious winner like Messi, but in this season there are many players that are pretty competitive. I have voted for Harry Kane and think that he and Yamal have the highest chances to win, and maybe Kane would have just a slightly higher chance than Yamal for me personally. If you compare Kane to some past winners, he did not have enough important trophies as they did but he has performed excellently in recent history and I think he has a very good shot at this. Yamal on the other had has achieved fantastic results for his age and has shown potential as a complete player. Maybe if you consider between these two only, one could see it as a choice between a a consistent player with more history and a younger high performed.

I would not say that there is certainty between these two which will win, but I would bet that it is going to be one of them.

Actually when you look at the stats Messi deserved the World Cup Golden Ball more than Rodri did. Messi practically carried Argentina all the way to the final with eight goals, dominating attacking metrics and delivering clutch performances throughout the entire tournament at 39 years old. While Rodri was vital in Spain's midfield, Messi's direct goal contributions and individual attacking impact were on another level. Messi should be a top contender for the Ballon d'Or based on being the most impactful player at the World Cup, even if Argentina fell just short. Putting up that kind of world class performance at 39 years old is historic and more than enough to put him at the top of the list. I'm honestly surprised he isn't even included in the poll!

You may not know the plan of FIFA because they might use the world cup performance of teams and players to assess who wins the Balloon d'or. Rodri won the golden ball of the world cup so don't be surprised if he suddenly appears at the top of the Balloon d'or ranking. Remember what happened in the 2024 Balloon d'or awards when everyone was thinking that Vinicius Jr will win the Balloon d'or but it turned out that Rodri was preferred instead.

Lamine Yamal looks fit to win it but he hasn't really made individual performance that will earn him that prestigious award. Kylian Mbappe is good but he's not much of a creative player and hasn't won anything this year. He's clinical in front of goal but those skills and dribbles that spices up a player's performance, that is what he lacks.

It's not that I want Harry Kane to win. I'd actually rather see someone else win, but I won't mention him since he's not even in the top five.

That said, Harry Kane should win it. However, given England's legendary bad luck with trophies and individual awards, there are two Spanish players who could easily beat him; Lamine, for example. Between those two, though, I don't think there should be any surprises.

Anything else would be an Infantino-style decision..

Rodri had a good performance but if I’m to consider someone for that Golden ball then it will still be Messi..

Not sure what FIFA was thinking but my guess is going to be the accusations about FIFA helping Messi specifically through Argentina that’s be trending the internet.. imagine Messi taking the Golden Ball despite Argentina having a bad stats for the Final.

Yet Messi deserved it, given his individual contribution at the World Cup, unless you just don’t like him or didn’t watch all of his contributions. Some of his teammates’ performances and actions at the World Cup were the only downside for Argentina..

If I had a vote it would probably go to Harry Kane, second would be Mbappe, even from their stats that was listed out here no one can argue that the two of them came out on top, the other candidates have more team/country titles that personal and while that all plays a role on who wins the Ballon d'Or the award itself at the end of the day is an individual award making individual achievements the best criteria to judge from on who should win it.

This season I agree if Rodri won the Ballon d'or, rather than last season which was considered quite controversial. The reason Rodri is the captain of Spain who won the world championship. Automatically the chances increase, although in terms of goal contribution it is not very significant, it's just that the impact that Rodri made in the final cannot be ignored. Aside from the candidate that OP made, I think the name Ferran Torres deserves to be in the candidate line.

If Rodri gets to win this edition of the balon d'or just because he captained Spain to winning the world cup, then we have to conclude that the award does not favor individual brilliance apart from who is in a team that is lucky enough to winning major trophies. what is bringing all these tough analysis is because France did not make it to the finals or else we will see a case where the likes of Dembele and kelian mbappe is looked at as the favorite rather than Rodri. certain, Rodri is a team player and has been instrumental in how his teams both at he club and country level has performed on the overal bases but to me, he is still not a better fit for the balon d'or than even kane.

But it's not just the world cup they will use to decide, they will also include other competitions and accumulate the performance of the players to make the decision. And from what I observed rodri is a good player but when it comes to qualifying for balloon d'Or his performance do not reach that extent,
Meanwhile he did perform well in the world cup finals, but I think he needs more to get him.a second balloon dior.

Someone like dembélé even deserves it better because he performed well trough all competitions.
