Thieves hardly have any emotions, neither do they think for a second what life would become for their victims when they have stolen from them, so as hard and painful as it sounds, this hacker couldn't care less what anybody has to say about or to them.

It is sad that this firmware bug existed and was exploited by the hacker, right now their next move is to launder the proceeds slowly. The only thing left for us do as a community is to ensure that this doesn't happen again. Hardware manufacturers know that thousands of people use their devices to hold their wealth, so any mistake such as this, can be too costly and as such should never have happened.

These scammers can't steal what thousands of people labored for and expect not to be condemned. Heaven and earth condemned their act. I know for sure a day of reckoning is coming, and they will be caught up with an ugly experience. It's just a matter of time, they will be faced with problems or illness they can't come out of freely until their life is wasted. Nice piece of poem if you ask me , coming from the OP and just like every poet the message is clear and precise. These crypto thieves are one set of people who are out to making sure that they empty the accounts of people's hardwork and labour which they use nights and day to acquire. This message should be to us as a reminder as someone who are into crypto currency that, there are people who are after your private keys which is critical in emptying your coins from your wallet address. We should be more vigilant and take steps in securing our private keys which these thieves are after.


Crypto thieves just like any other theive is fueled by greed and the willingness to making it big over night, without actually taking steps in making sure that they look for something reasonable to do , so as to putting food on their table. The truth is that there is no peace for the wicked in this life. No matter how successful a criminal is there is always consequences at the end of the day.

Its obvious this poem is written for the victims of ColdCard theft which resulted to the lost of over 594 BTC worth over $38milion. And in addition to it, I will also like to add my own piece in consolidation to those victims. Because it's actually a sad news and a big shock that you will just wake up one morning and heard that your bitcoin is lost. However, from research I was made to understand that hackers of this ColdCard attack were only able to succeed through the bug that was discovered on the ColdCard Hardware wallet that reduced its private key randomness and making it predictable, which is obviously how they were able to correctly predict the private keys of 500 wallets and stole 594 Bitcoins worth over $38millions dollars. And with this incident now, it will start making people not feel very safe with using hardware wallets. However, I just pray other hardware wallet companies improve strongly on their securities so that such incident don't occur again.

This episode is a reminder of why we have laws, a government, and police: there are bad people in the world.

That's the thing the libertarian utopians always miss. "Wouldn't the world be amazing if everybody was honest?". Why yes, yes it would. We wouldn't need police, we wouldn't need regulations, we wouldn't need a government, we wouldn't need KYC, AML, and all of those other "burdensome regulations" that slow things down.

But that's not the real world. The real world is one where a tiny few ruin things for everybody. Because of one idiot who put bombs in his shoes, we all need to take our shoes off to get on an airliner. And a million other things.

I hope these criminals are caught and prosecuted. I hope the money they stole is returned to the ones they stole it from. But we need men with guns to act in order for that to happen. This is not an easy problem to solve (humans have been experimenting with this "government" thing for thousands of years with varied results), but the only way out is through.

Right now authorities are trying to find the identities of the criminals using chain analysis. They are tracking Bitcoin offramps and leveraging financial regulations and restrictions that have been put in place in the last 10 years in order to find them.

They are, in short, making use of things that many within the Bitcoin community has fought since it began.

Regulations suck, and often regulations don't make things safer and just screw things up. Sometimes they make people safer. But unfortunately we are stuck with this idea. Anarchy is a world nobody wants to live in.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where few people have kindness in their hearts. Last year, in this same month, someone broke into my house, stole my computer, and disappeared. When I read the news about Coldcard, I was very sad because I know there are many people who hodle cryptocurrencies and are people who don't spend, they just buy constantly and hold them. Then many questions came to my mind:

How are these people feeling after spending years accumulating Bitcoin, not spending it for themselves and then news like this appears and they lose everything?

In their minds, won't they think about suicide? They never spent their Bitcoins, but some scoundrel who didn't help at the time of purchase will spend them thanks to having stolen them. This is something very cruel, If it were in the real world, at least there could be hope of catching the scoundrels, but here on the internet it seems to be lawless territory.

Greed and desperation has blinded and overshadowed the conscience of many, they don’t care or think about their victims at all, we keep seeing this type of massive loots both online and offline and the problem is there’s no sure way of stopping or catching them.

Scammers and criminals will always be amongst us, we just have to do our best by being careful then pray and hope we never experience such.

A lot of people have been affected, people's hopes cut short, perhaps their lives as well because someone with health condition might not outlive this shock.
This wickedness is out of context, people have lost their sense of humanity and sees every vulnerability as an opportunity to get wealthy, even if it entails having blood in their hands.

The persons behind this hack has murdered a lot of dreams, hopes, people, even beliefs in bitcoin, we see posts on various platforms of people doubting their beliefs in bitcoin because they were affected. He has done a lot of harm, I hope posterity judges him, because he surely doesn't have a conscience, else he wouldn't have gone ahead to pull this off.

He surely has company which comprises of the pains, cries and bad wishes of those who truly suffered to stack those sats he drained, coupled with the ghosts of those who would loose their lives as a result of this. May karma meet them sooner, that is my blessing to them.

In worst-case scenarios, assuming this happened irl and the trunk of the family truck is loaded up with thousands in fiat, and they begin to stalk them, and finally approach, maybe they would have been pursuing to file up for the murder of the whole family in a single robbery huh.

What regrets Coiner? They don't feel the slightest regrets trust me. Although, as humans they should but sedatives and a dozen other intoxicants won't let it out . IMO, this is just one of the bigger risk of choosing decentralization [To be solely responsible for the safety of how much or how small your coin is] without proper sensitization.

This is so devastating because a lot of coldcard wallet owners are people who have accumulated for years, doing their homework for self custody by using hardware wallet, did absolutely no mistake, and yet still got drained anyway because the wallet's bug.

A lot of people are talking and doubting about the security of hardware wallet right as of now and also talking about migrating to Bitcoin ETF, it'd be a big loss for the world of self custody because apparently many don't care even if the bug is isolated only to coldcard.

I can't imagine stacking sats for years and it vanished. Really hope the hacker make mistake and able to be identified.

Hardware wallet have risks associated with it, and the coldcard incident and the others are clear examples f what it means not to trust only one wallet when holding your assets most especially when you have a good amount of bitcoin accumulated, this is the only to play safe in this untrusted world we eve in, because there is no logic to explain what exactly the bug that drained people money for in place in the first place.


And for the company, hope the have emergency safu like insurance that cover for customers losses, but this is a very sad time for those who's wallet are affected.

Well, everyone who lost their bitcoin in the Coldcard compromise are the real bitcoin heroes. They have done too much for bitcoin and believed in the long term process of holding. They even went ahead to purchase one of hardware wallets to store their bitcoins only to meet such fatal ending. I hope the authorities are doing well to track the culprits. This is just an attack on bitcoin there are too many people who have given up already. They don't even want anything to do with cryptocurrency as a results of this hack.
