Your Bitcoin may become unreachable by your family if you are only individual who knows where your seed phrase is and how your wallet works. On the other hand, if you share your seed phrase with someone during your lifetime, it also creates clear security issues. It is not always easy to find the middle ground between security and inheritance. Experts generally recommend planning both the technical recovery process and the legal side of inheritance instead of relying on memory alone. It is generally agreed that the technical recovery process should be planned as well as the legal aspects of the inheritance process, other than just relying on memory.
In my opinion, the protection of Bitcoin should not only be against hackers and thieves. It should also include ensuring that your family does not end up with unopenable wallet should something unexpected happen. The hard aspect is creating plan that will protect your Bitcoin today and let trusted individuals get it back later. It is likely that there is not one solution that works for everyone, so it is best to consider it before it is needed.
Have you made any inheritance plan for your Bitcoin?

Have you made any inheritance plan for your Bitcoin?
Of course, I have set up a legacy during my lifetime, the one I trust the most and who trusts me. I have identified the person as the legacy, I have told him so much that he can recover my Bitcoin wallet if I die, I have taught him where my wallet seed phrase is and how to use it. I will not let my Bitcoins be lost forever if I die, And my wife will pass my Bitcoins on to my child when they are ready. However, I have stored my wallet seed phrase very securely offline, I believe that the more secure my wallet private key is, the more secure my Bitcoins will be in the future.

I built this investment based on an agreement with my wife. Even though my wife doesn’t ask too much and doesn’t seem very interested, she supports what I’m doing. The amount isn’t big yet because we had to use all our Bitcoin for some very urgent needs. I’ve provided everything needed for my wife to access the wallet in the future. Some people with larger Bitcoin holdings probably plan their inheritance better.

Nice try, Three Letter Agency!
Just kidding. I do have my own plan for inheritance and all I have right now is hoping that it will work out the way I planned it. The worst thing you can do is not telling anyone at all either about your Bitcoin or how to recover it and leaving your Seed buried in the ground only you know the location of, I suppose.
Now let me express my paranoid mind and ask a simple question.
If you prepared anyone else that you really trust for the situation where you die, have you prepared at all for a situation where you both die, such as in an accident?

This discussion is not new to most of us in this forum and as much as we have tried to discuss this subject of passing on our assets to the heirs, we must must also take our time to prepare the third party as to where and how to access your properties when you are not around or unaccessible, bitcoin keys is the only security to your bitcoin holdings and how you transfer that is key privacy Mannar.
The truth is that since something like dead takes us unaware, is important to also make accurate plans and decisions that keep our assets reacheable no matter how hard and impossible that may seems and, how unpredictable life can happen.

I do not have bitcoin inheritance plan yet and I am not yet planning to have it because the amount of bitcoin that I am having is still small. The family that I can allow them to know my seed phrase is my father and mother, but they do not know about bitcoin. When the right time comes, I will either go for time lock, multisig, slip 39 or shirmir recovery tool, but the best thay I think of right now is time lock. If you had taken the time to use the search button you'd have seen our responses on how to deal with this issue. I think this is too harsh and you provided no value information for the newbie like showing him some old posts that similar discussion has been on this forum, but you only just want to be hard in him. This is an example of an old membernto be harsh on a newbie.

It had never crossed my mind before to think about BTC inheritance, In reality it is crucial considering that we do not know when we will leave this world. Right now, I think the only way is to share the seed phrase with a trusted family member & provide a technical tutorial on how to open the wallet, send & receive BTC. In the centralized exchange section I saw that Binance already has an inheritance feature. I should probably give this some serious thought in the near future, given my history of serious illness.

@OP, if you die in this way without telling anyone about this, then this depends on where you are holding your funds for a long time. Whether you are holding your funds on an exchange or in a secure wallet. If you are holding your funds on an exchange for the long term (which is a big stupidity), then in such a case, if the exchange commits fraud in any way or goes bankrupt, then it can access your funds. On the other hand, if you die while holding it in a secure wallet, then your holding supply will also be considered locked supply because after you, no one would be able to access it. ... If you prepared anyone else that you really trust for the situation where you die, have you prepared at all for a situation where you both die, such as in an accident?
Hmm, why did I never think this way, haha! This is also a concerning matter. BTW, have you done any preparation for this kind of situation?

Don't you worry about who inherits your Bitcoin, once you're dead, no part of you is conscious of anything around you. The Gold, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies you've owned become nothing of real value, you won't know what your next of kin does with your portfolio, wastes it or loses it. No special plan, but there is access to information if something happens, that's the connection I have with my family.

I think this is similar to writing a will because its al about what will happen incase od anything. If we treat Bitcoin like a will, then one can inform his spouse or relative about his Bitcoin and possibly leave a guide of where the private keys can be accessed ahould anything happen. It will be terribly bad if someone fails to transfer his Bitcoin to heirs and it turn to lost coins, it will mean that all the labor is wasted. As much possible, we should try to leave clue for the people that will inherit the Bitcoin.

It’s true that protecting Bitcoin shouldn’t be only by the scammer or hackers at times even some people that is very close to us can look for a way out just to get access to wallet and divert everything to their own wallet, whereby you won’t know who is actually did it all your thinking will be on hackers. There’s some that don’t have any future plans to their Bitcoin. Because they don’t have on mind to tell any of their family’s about their assets, this make a lots of people’s get lose their Bitcoin immediately they pass away why? Is because they refuse to made any of their family’s members inheritance to their Bitcoin.

This is why it's important to make research about any topic you want to discuss on the forum as newbie before dropping them because some of the time, you end up introducing a topic that's been discussed already in the forum. We've discussed this particular topic before now, and which you've rightly included the links to your post. I hope the moderators sees it and locks this thread.

I would like to think my preparation is easy enough to understand by anyone who would inherit my belongings but on the other hand I know I overly complicated so many things revolving around any technology in my home that most heirs would simply give up and probably list it all on a Facebook marketplace or however that works. To be honest with you. I do not think my Bitcoin is ready for the situation where I and my closest people who I would most likely go in a vacation with die in an accident, although I do have an idea or two that I may look more into soon now that my paranoia has been slightly activated!

Have you made any inheritance plan for your Bitcoin?
Although I haven't made any inheritance plan yet. But I have done one thing, I have written the seed phrase of the wallets I have in an offline diary and kept it safe. Since I am not married yet, I am thinking of explaining to my parents in the future where they are and how to use them if necessary. Although they don't know much about technology, it seems better than keeping them completely in the dark. After marriage, a new decision can be made considering the situation and my own holdings. For now, the most important thing for me is to keep the seed phrase safe and at least someone in the family knows that such assets exist and where to start if necessary.

Have you made any inheritance plan for your Bitcoin?
I have not make someone my bitcoin or altcoins inheritance yet, even the bitcoin I am holding right now, it will not going to be my children or wife inheritance because I will sell the bitcoin and still purchase more bitcoin before I will think who will inherit my bitcoin in the future, and it will going to be a huge amount of bitcoin because it will make my children or wife or brother know the value of bitcoin on earth, for now nothing will make me expose my seed phrases to anybody because anything can happen that will make the child, wife, brother and sister to turn against you to empty your wallets without a single trace of the person, so make sure you trust whoever you are going to show your seeds phase in future.
