Images of newbies finally appear, but...

Today I checked something, about the images of newbies.

When a newbie makes a post with an image, it does not appear in the thread.
But, if we go to the user's profile, see the latest posts, the image already appears

I noticed this sometimes last week when I clicked on a profile of the newbie after reading through a thread I saw being created by the same newbie. I never gave it much thought since if we quote a newbie with an image link, we can see the image; that’s just the same way I was looking at it.

It looks like they were not hidden on the show posts page.

They're not currently hidden in PMs or on some other pages (like a user's "show posts" page), though I might change that later if it seems necessary.

This is nothing new. I noticed this when I first joined this forum. It may seem strange. But another thing is that when you quote a newbie's post with a picture, the picture appears within your quote. Similarly, I think the rule of displaying pictures is not applied equally everywhere.

I have noticed this since few years ago, but I was already a legendary member when I noticed. The images not showing on the posts is enough to discourage the image spamming on this forum. If not effective, it is possible that theymos would have also disabled newbies images for it not to be showing elsewhere.

Could be the forum recognizes the link as an image or maybe a site image hosting is being whitelisted on the forum and automatically add BBcode on those links?

I checked and tested a bit for the quote; it automatically adds BBcode

on the raw link. Not sure these happens on only higher members or not but it could be from Jr-Legendary.

I tested quote 3 source image hosting on someone who posted a raw link without BBcode:
1. Imgur
2. ImgBB
3. Talkimg

ImgBB & TalkIMG: each time you quote their raw link will automatically add BBcode to the link but for Imgur not getting automatically BBcode at the time we quote their raw link. Maybe due their TOS + mostly image being posted on Imgur is always "Image proxy invalid image".

Images only shown if another user with rank from Junior member and above ranks (that have rights to show images in their posts) quote your post and don't remove the image link in the quote block.

Images in a user's post history page or topic history page are not annoying for anyone. When you already decided to check a user's post/ topic history page, I see there is no or very little reason to feel annoying with images.

It is similar to how Ignore works.
You ignored a user, you will see that user's posts in threads.
However you will see that user's posts in post history page or topic history page. Again, it's not annoying when you are curious to read it after ignoring a user.

This has always been the case. Most likely the block is only in effect in public threads and not the profile of the user, sane way you will not see the post of an ignored user in a thread but if you go to their profile it will become visible. It's also helpful to give the newbie an idea of how their post will appear to others when they rank up or purchase copper membership.

Look, I've been here for several years, and with an image hosting site, I had never I repair.
Ironic? Maybe, but sometimes we don't notice things that are right in front of our eyes.
