My worst nightmare is as following....
"I amassed 1 000 000 Bitcoins in 2009-2010 — at a time when they were essentially free — but it was by no means easy work. I promised not to sell a single coin until the price of Bitcoin reaches 1 000 000 USD apiece. Therefore I did not sell with $1000/BTC (2013) nor $20k/BTC (2017) nor $60k/BTC (2021).
I always considered security my top priority. That is why I did not keep my BTC on exchanges or in hot wallets. To be absolutely certain that my assets were 100% protected, I tattooed the words of the seed phrase onto my skin — and no one understood why I was wearing words like "storm," "sick," "monkey," "tired" and so on. I was always certain that if someone wanted to get hold of my seed phrase, it would be completely impossible (or he would have to kill me first).
In 2040, when the price of Bitcoin had finally reached 1 000 000 USD, I opened my wallet to enjoy my hard-earned fortune. However, there wasn't a single satoshi in it."

Let's take this step by step. I'll take the time to respond to this post that attempts something... That mathematical expression doesn't exist because it's indeterminate; it's not equal to zero. In other words, you started off on the wrong foot with the title of your post alone, or perhaps it's better to say that what starts badly ends badly. Then, in your hypothetical scenario, you make another mistake. It's obvious you'll find zero in that wallet. The guy who gave you the tattoo memorized your seed phrase*, and that's why there's zero in your wallet. So, based on that: Tattoo + Seed Phrase = 0 So, [Guide] Ways to improve your seed phrase backup process. *Additional options: your wife, your lover, your girlfriend, someone curious while you were sleeping, being drunk, being drugged, or simply social engineering, etc.

I like how @famososMuertos debunks the maths. Even better than I would've done.
Even wearing the seed phrase these days is a high security risks to. This is not 2010 when you can wear the seed phrase and people will have absolutely no idea what those random words are for. These days if you post random words on the internet with no context, you can be sure that several thousands of people will try it on several blockchain networks. From Bitcoin to others. So even if the tatoo guy didn't sweep it off, people who have seen the tatoo over the years have.
Thinking about it now, that method was flawed from the start even if you just wanted to dunk on Bitcoin because of the ColdCard hack.

The idea of tattooing a seed phrase onto one’s skin did not originate with me, but it certainly holds great value—if not financial, then at least erotic. (Skin in the game) I wonder who will actually be the first to get this tattoo done? I would gladly buy his personal cryptocurrency

You tattooed your seed phrase on your skin yourself or someone helped you out? If someone helped you to tattoo the word, just know that your coins are gone. Another one is if your family or friends see your skin and write all the word down and used it to steal your bitcoin, that will be when you will know that doing such is kind of foolish. One of the worst place to backup your seed phrase is on your skin.

If anyone should try tattoo-ing their seed phrase on their skin then they’re probably going to lose their coins because there are a lot of scenarios where people can use and copy the phrase. Even if the tattoo artist didn’t steal the phrase, someone can easily get it when you’re asleep (or if they make you sleep longer with drugs) so it’s the worst possible backup for a seed phrase. I don’t even see the body of the OP making any sense, what do you mean you promised not to sell till when Bitcoin reaches $1m.. imo a kinda person that would tattoo his seedphrase “to protect it” wouldn’t anticipate in 2009/2010 that bitcoin could reach $1m in 31 years.

I had to read to an extent to understand that it's just a fiction cause 2040 is still far away so it's either a dream or made up story. No wonder the mathematical expression amounted to nothing, cause it's never happened moreover the steps he took to secure his Bitcoin is shit cause he'd freely gave out his years of investment through tattoo if it were real. The post looks like thrash if you read to the end but it passes a message which is that people shouldn't do dumb things in the name of security, tattooing of seeds is like a free giveaway to the tattoo artist or any Bitcoin enthusiast who sees it. Also on the positive side of the story, it encourages long term holding, according to the story he didn't sell until 2040.

Atleast, it was just a nightmare I always considered security my top priority.
No, you didn't. You made your security weak and funerable to attack the moment you tattooed your phrases on your skin. I will assume since this is just a nightmare you do not practice something like this or similar to this in reality, else your nightmare might become your reality in the future.

Exactly, you are on Point he’s just trying to pass a message, this is about security and its weaknesses. that’s what he’s also trying to express mathematically from his topic title. Based on how I see it Let say your bitcoin is infinite as it keep growing because thats what you hope for, Probably aiming at $1m in price, but just a weakness in the security (tattooing your seed) can make you lose is all in just a moment. Its simply saying no matter what you hold once your seed phrase are exposed, you are as good as not having those coin you think you have because it could be taken away by who get those seeds.

Absolutely never tattoo those seed words. Nobody, including electronic devices, should ever see those words, period.
And if you are security conscious, you should have moved those funds to a new wallet, because things have improved and might improve again since then.

∞ × 0 = 0 The title is as meaningless as your nightmare was. Since you have your seed phrase tattooed on your head by someone, you have already lost your Bitcoin, meaning holding onto your empty wallet until 2040 is an act of unlimited stupidity. It's even more meaningless since you initially held one million Bitcoins and never sold them, so you're considered the second-largest Bitcoin holder. Well, if Satoshi Nakamoto is not alive, you're the first-largest Bitcoin holder in the world. Maybe you had too much to drink last night.

In 2040, when the price of Bitcoin had finally reached 1 000 000 USD, I opened my wallet to enjoy my hard-earned fortune.
It seems like your worst nightmare in 2040 should be that you will have wasted your life without enjoying your wealth Let's break your hypothetical scenario down like this. If you were to find out about bitcoin in early days, you should have been in your teens. So lets just say 20 for easy computation. By 2040, that 20 year old would be 50 years old and today (2026) would be 36. Meaning they could have been a millionaire by selling only 16 BTC aka 0.0016% of their supply!!! but didn't and waited till 50 to enjoy their wealth. You see, balance is everything in life. The same way not buying or panic selling are terrible ideas, not selling ever is also a terrible idea. You'll wake up 50 some day asking "where did my life go"... ❝C’est drôle, la vie. Quand on est gosse, le temps traîne. Et puis un jour, on a 50 ans. Et l’enfance, tout ce qu’il en reste, tient dans une petite boîte… une petite boîte rouillée.❞https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5HGy4pFaTc

To be absolutely certain that my assets were 100% protected, I tattooed the words of the seed phrase onto my skin — and no one understood why I was wearing words like "storm," "sick," "monkey," "tired" and so on. At that time, seeds were not used yet. All keys were randomly generated, which means around 20,000 different private keys to be stored for 50 coins each. Good luck making a tattoo with that much data. I amassed 1 000 000 Bitcoins in 2009-2010 Seed phrases, and things like BIP-39 only appeared around 2013.

If those words are tattooed on your skin where it is always visible to the eyes of many people, then why are you so confident that no one will know why you were those words on your skin? It's simply a dumb idea, a lot of people knows the most familiar words of seed phrase, like myself, ones I see just these few words you mentioned, I am already aware it's likely a seed phrase, don't forget that you are not in 2009, this is 2026 and a lot of people have adopted Bitcoin and they know about this simple things that you think is too deep to be figured out by anyone.

I’m trying to grasp the intent behind this hypothetical nightmare!.. My first thought is that it was prompted by the recent Coldcard incident. A seed phrase is your private key and it’s meant to be secret forever except you’re passing it on as inheritance, but exposing it and thinking people won’t know is very foolish. If any body is going to tattoo their seedphrase on their skin then you have to kill your artist (mafia way) immediately after and the tattoo should be in a part of your body where no one else can see or you ensure to be covered up at all times. The lesson I want to grab from this is security of bitcoin isn’t just about protecting it from hackers today but even from future attacks, safeguarding or hiding seed phrases is one thing and the other is how you do it. We should regularly check or verify our wallets; maybe the funds were gone from the moment he tattooed the seed phrases but he had to wait till he’s reached his goal to find out. Also another angle I want to look at as investors, we should set realistic goals and know when to take some profits from our investments while we keep going.
