Those addicted to gambling will ignore you and even distance themselves from you, thinking that you will annoy them, and you are considered bad luck in their gambling session. They don't take advice; they just want to do their thing, and they prefer to communicate with gamblers like them.
But as a friend, you don't want your friend to waste money on gambling and waste their life, so you keep the communication open because there will be a time when they are open to talking about their situation.
What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
Let's discuss this based on your experience and opinion.

If you are close to someone, you should be able to study when could be the right time to talk to them about something and when they will be open-minded to listen, and when won’t be the right time. Everyone won’t have the same opening; if you try to approach the person first and you notice they are pushing you away based on them not yet being ready to listen, you can try again next time when you are all in a happy mode talking about life and how to survive. There are some people for whom the best time you can get their attention for such discussions is when they are sharing a drink with you, while for some, they will be the one who will seek your advice when they consider it necessary.

Idk, but I think it's better to talk to friends who gamble rather than make assumptions. You don't even need to know their financial situation. Just have a casual conversation and ask simple questions about their goals, experiences, etc.
Those kinds of discussions often happen more naturally while hanging out or having a few drinks, and people tend to open up and share their real thoughts and experiences. Just remember to be respectful and avoid being intrusive, especially when the conversation turns to money or personal finances.

This is actually something which has been discussed already several occasions here on the gambling section of the forum, and I continue to think in the same manner I have thought in previous occasions: you can only help people who are willing to allow themselves to be helped, that is... You can help gamblers who are aware they have a problem and they need to tackle it. This applies to both friends, family members and acquaintances. If you try to help someone who does not actually think they need to be helped, then you will you lose your time, and they will get away from you. That is how it works.

What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
I was once a gambling addict, I have people that advised me, but I did not listen. I always had something to defend myself at the time. It is true that such a person may not just listen. When you know he is happy like when you went out to drink together, you can always try to convince him. That is the best thing that you can do. I did not listen, but I also did not distanced myself from friends at the time.

Let's discuss this based on your experience and opinion.
Based on my experience, when they are vulnerable, and that is when they lose a lot of money, I've been told to slow down on my betting when I lose two months' salary. I agree with my friend who talked me out of it after he lent me money because I have no money to pay all my bills because of my losses . It's good to have friends like this who are there at times you are losing hope and need help; I still made good on that promise. Gambling is good, but you need limitations; you never bet your whole salary its disaster if you do.

What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
If I already say a thing or two and he won't listen, that's enough. Yes, enough is enough and there's no need to communicate with that person anymore about his gambling addiction and say to slow down. That's their choice and I've shown my concern to him so that it won't be severe if ever he falls more to it. But, nothing I'll push myself to these friends of mine. A friend is a friend but they chose to get into these situations despite that we've given them warnings and tips.

If you noticed that he is addicted already to gambling, it is better you always keep advising him and let him see the reality of life. Who knows if he is going to see your advise worthy one day. One thing I know about people is that even if they do not take your advise, they still obviously know that you are advising them in a good way which they appreciate. When you have the chance that both of you talk about gambling, it is another good time to advise him if he is addicted or wasting too much money on gambling.

When he's willing to listen to advices or when he already reached out to you to borrow some money to buy his necessities after losing from gambling. If he's not yet in this situation, then that's most likely not the perfect time for some gambling addiction lessons. It's kind of hard to teach them a lesson when they're not ready to make some changes to their gambling habit yet. Just like you said, they're gonna ignore you, so it's not worth the hassle.

I don't really think there is a best time to convince them to slow down or stop, but conviction does not happen in just a blink of an eye. It should be a thorough and constant communication established with the gambler, not only about asking him to stop or lessen his gambling habit, but also listen in his joys and sorrows that gambling addiction has led him to experience.
Eventually he will realized in the end that no addiction that is best for any person. And when that happens, all he need are just family and friends, and a strong support system. He will change for the better, and get rid of addiction not because he's finally convinced, but because he already experienced himself the worst of gambling addiction.

Honestly speaking gamblers and drug addict are the most difficult people to handle or advise because they love what they are doing, and advising them is like pocknosing into an affair that doesn't concerns you. But however there is a way this people are being handled. The thing is that you must find a person he respects or a person who his comfortable in shearing his problem with, then such person can know the exact time to talk to him . It could be his brother/sister, mother/father or even girlfriend/wife. There is definitely someone he listens to, the person will be in best position to know how to advise him that he will not pick offense. Otherwise this people no matter how you try they gt angry easily for no reason.

Let's discuss this based on your experience and opinion.
You don't, and you will not do it because like what you said, gambling addicts will just ignore whatever other people are saying, and that includes you even though you're his friend. You will just waste your time doing it. It's better to just let the authorities do it. Communicating to them is pretty much useless for most of the time because they just ignore other people's opinions. Instead of talking to him, as your friend, why not just put him to a rehab center and recover there? Your words don't mean anything anymore if the gambler is addicted already. Yes, you're his friend, and you don't want his life to be miserable, but isn't him going to rehab the best thing that you can do so that he will not spend more money on gambling? Convincing him means nothing. Talking to gambling addicts for me is useless. If you want to save a life, let the authorities to their thing. It's a different thing though if he doesn't ignore you and follows what you are saying in order for his life to be better.

What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
There are only two scenarios where I think they'll manage to listen, either when they're winning or when they are pondering over their losses. I think it's the latter that they'll probably eager to listen considering gambling wouldn't distract them anymore as they don't have any to play. The other one seems agreeable as long as they're not distracted as well like they're resting over a winning spree but it's likely a good time to have a talk with them over their addiction but I doubt if it will be digestive but I'm sure they'll be hearing those words and they'll only realize it when it goes to zero sometimes later.

There is no specific time to talk to a gambling addict. This varies from person to person, and depending on the degree of closeness or friendship between you and him, you can choose the best time to talk to your addicted friend to keep him away from gambling.
In general, you should choose a time when he is in a mental state that allows him to listen to advice, or when he is in a great loss that makes your words affect him, because in this case he is thinking of leaving and needs someone to encourage him in his decision.

It's possible there's actually no best time. I presume many addicted gamblers prefer not to talk about their condition. So, I guess it's probably enough that you make them feel that you're just around, one call away.
Or perhaps it's best to set something that strongly competes with gambling. It could be any activity like biking, sports games, fishing, or even just friendly gathering with barbeque and beer and whatnot. It should be fun so that it would take his/her time and focus away from gambling.

As several other have commented, it is basically never a good time. It has to be someone very close to you—like a sibling (with whom you’re in constant contact and have a good relationship)—for it to be worth it. In these situations, it’s up to the person themselves to make a decision and take action to get out of the rut; the problem is that this usually happens only after they’ve hit rock bottom.

What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
Let's discuss this based on your experience and opinion.
Addiction is never a simple matter to resolve; on severe cases, it might even need the help of a professional and good rehabilitation. These matters are not just resolved by communicating at the "best time", nah...I don't think so. As some commenters have already stated, when they're vulnerable and when they've made up their mind to change; but sometimes, communicating isn't just enough. Ultimately, I agree with what Hispo said: you can only help people who are willing to allow themselves to be helped, that is... You can help gamblers who are aware they have a problem and they need to tackle it. This applies to both friends, family members and acquaintances.
If you try to help someone who does not actually think they need to be helped, then you will you lose your time, and they will get away from you. That is how it works.
If they're not willing to change, every help is like pouring water on a rock, it is completely futile. So let them first be convinced that they're in need of help, then you can proceed in communicating, and if it isn't enough, then professional help and rehabilitation can be deployed.

Those addicted to gambling will ignore you and even distance themselves from you, thinking that you will annoy them, and you are considered bad luck in their gambling session. They don't take advice; they just want to do their thing, and they prefer to communicate with gamblers like them.
Therefore, if you want to maintain a friendship with an addicted gambler, you need to maintain a "silence" regarding the gambling addiction. The best way is to not lend money to them. But as a friend, you don't want your friend to waste money on gambling and waste their life, so you keep the communication open because there will be a time when they are open to talking about their situation.
Therefore, need to wait until he takes a step towards you for a heart-to-heart talk. What do you think is the best time to communicate with your friend who is addicted to gambling to convince him to slow down or stop gambling?
The best moment will come when he has nothing left to lose. Let's discuss this based on your experience and opinion.
I haven't had this experience, but I'm well aware of other addictions whose nature is similar. Until a person recognizes the harmfulness of their habit and addiction, telling them anything is useless, as they'll remain deaf. It takes time for them to "see the light" and realize the need for help. By the way, isn't there too much discussion of gambling addiction in this section? Aren't there more topics in this niche we could discuss?

When they already seek help? I mean anyone should be responsible to what we are doing and I doubt an adult will immediately listen to someone advice especially if they are already addicted to gambling. You will just create a boundary if you insist your opinion to someone that is not asking for it. At the end of the day, it’s still our choice on what we should do with our life.

I don't make a lot of friends, so for someone to be my friend, it means we are very close, and I can talk to them about things they are not comfortable talking about. The moment I figure out, and I'm sure that you are actually addicted to gambling, I'll find time to tell you about it. The goal is to make sure it's when we are alone and also don't talk in a judgmental or condemning manner. I think that is the mistake most people make. They feel that because they're being the "honest friend" who will always tell you the truth, they can talk anyhow, but I don't agree. There is a way and manner to talk to someone about something they are struggling with. Do it in a respectful way.
I've never had a friend who was addicted, so I've never been in a position to tell him about his gambling, but I have had to tell a friend that he was gambling too much. I noticed he was gambling too frequently, and even though he was not addicted to it, he was on a slippery slope where he was losing so much money and chasing his losses, looking for a big break. I had to tell him to take it easy. I'm glad he understood me, so we didn't have any problems.
