To start with AI doesn't change the way we should merit. Copy pasting AI is low effort and quality posting so you don't really expect people to appreciate such posts. Secondly I'd barely go through a newbies history unless there's probably something very intriguing I feel the need to check out.

Sometimes you don't even need to have an AI detector to map out AI generated content. Most times I think copy pasted AI contents come from farmer accounts than actual newbies. Areal newbie will refrain from AI the moment they notice it's frowned upon on the forum.

So far, from what I've seen after reporting AI-generated posts, some of these users understand what they're doing. They believe that by creating such excellent posts with AI, their posts will gain merit from reputable users, who don't have the time to check AI-generated posts. They continue this pattern and apply it to more posts. But it's all in vain because sooner or later, someone will report their posts, and their accounts could be nuked. So if they think they're so clever as to trick people into meriting their AI-generated posts, they should think twice about doing so.

In most cases, AI-generated text can be identified by reading just a few lines. If the post is too long and too formal, I sometimes doubt it and then run it through the AI content checker. Sometimes AI-generated content has merits because the posts contain some good information, and the sender does not always verify the content with the AI content checker. If I see the posts from high-ranked users, I usually don't doubt them. As for newbies, I actually doubt and check their profile before I send merits.

All these tools use a sort of score to estimate if the content is AI generated. Besides the ones that you mentioned here, I mean the length of the sentence and its type, there are specific words and repetitive wording that are checked too to say if it was most likely AI generated or not.
From what I noticed here, the amount of people using it in a way or another is shocking. These tools are far from detecting all of them and it might flag legitimate posts. False positive..

Now I see how much subjective these questions have left most people, some might not acknowledge or accept that they do send merit regardless of the post being Ai but some do merit post out of emotion and this emotions are derived from seeing other merit sources or people whom they consider (trustable) reliable merit that same post so they are pushed to merit such post (thread). For instance; A member not solely a newbie generates a thread with AI and Theymos merits such post out of his excitement, a good number of merit source or members with large merit spendable will dump merit on that same thread. Until one or two people who are rational begins to question the thread originality. That’s how some people actually send merit not really because they find the post authentic enough for merit but because someone else did. It’s referred to as “Monkey see, Monkey do” more like the Bandwagon effect.

  • If you come across a high-quality post from a lower-ranked member, do you merit it immediately or do you first check their posting history?
Although many respected members have already shared different kinds of opinions, personally, whenever I coincidentally see high-quality posts from lower-ranked members, I try to look into the matter. If their posts gradually become better from the beginning then see it positively, but a sudden change is suspicious.

It is also normal that lower-ranked accounts will not be able to make such good posts in the beginning, so I think it is necessary to see in which direction the posts they made from the start are growing. Usually, this is how the post matters of a lower-ranked account should be looked at.

It may not be right to judge someone by their rank. Because someone may be in a low rank but if they already have enough knowledge about the topic they are discussing, then we can get quality and good posts from low rank accounts. But before giving them credit, I will definitely try to go into their account and verify the posts to see if they are created by AI. In most cases, just by looking at the writing style, you can understand that they are posts created by AI, there is no need to scan them using various tools.

Somehow, I think the same. Even before AI became common on this forum, it already felt very subjective, at least to me. It felt like it depended on who the OP was and who gave merit to the OP.

When a top tier member gave merit, others would often follow, maybe because they genuinely agreed, or maybe because they wanted to show they had the same opinion as those top tier merit senders.

The problem is, sometimes I'm also one of those people. I have to admit it. I try to be objective, but I just can't get rid of my own subjectivity. I'm just a follower. Seeing a thread receive merit from top tier members makes me think it's really worth reading and worthy of merit.

And now that AI usage has become common, I also tend to check whether a post is likely fully AI generated or not. For Senior, Hero, and Legendary members, I usually don't apply that filter. Now I know that's wrong because lately I've seen many high ranked members getting signature bans.

We have seen alot from newbie posters, so it is not out of place to have such an impression about a newbie whose post is so good and without any error to prove that he is truly a newbie or that he is using AI for his posts.

I do not subscribe to senior members of the forum judging them without evidence. If anyone thinks that their posts are AI generated, there are AI tools that they can use to detect those posts. And if anyone still thinks that such a person is not a newbie truly,  probably he is into account farming, there must still be clear evidence of such act before drawing conclusions.

No doubt, some newbies are really knowledgeable in certain subject matters and it will not be nice to hide such knowledge from the forum. In such cases when anyone is in doubt about the authenticity of such post, they should dig deeper to find out more. There should be no room for assumptions.

Probably going to give it to a single post if it was something useful or a high-quality post, unless it was evident that it was AI-generated content. Or if I have some kind of suspicion into it, I might take a visit on the profile on the newbie, but I guess something I always take a visit on the profile just to see the history of the OP or the poster.

I think the merit should not be affected by the history of the poster, but I think this is just how it works because trust is one thing here in the forum, if you are a spammer and suddenly create a high-quality post, there might be some suspicion. Or if you have been doing AI content in the past, then suspicion of using AI is always going to be the thing.

I don't often really read a newbies response though
    Especially by newbies without merit
Yeah trying to work on it but I don't usually have high expectations.

The conclusion is clear, none of the merits senders have checked whether it is about AI and whether the story has any real basis or is just a fabrication. So far, that user has not provided any proof that he is a victim, so the conclusion is very clear.
Nope. I was among the merit sender
Even if I'm usually skeptical to stories stated in the forum
Whether it was true or not what I knew was that there's a victim out there facing similar situation.
Or maybe we just got emotional
I'm not really the best at recognising AI generated posts though.[/list]

Of course, emotions should be emotions, but every time we show our soft-heartedness, we allow scammers to take advantage of it. First of all, look at the nickname of this writer; he pretended to be a victim, creating a consonant name.
    https://loyce.club/archive/posts/6699/66996897.html

Seriously... who lost large amounts? What do people experience in these moments? Are you looking for a forum to tell everyone your story? Really? Every time something happens, a newbie scours the Internet for someone to cry to and warn others? Maybe it would be appropriate to hear this from the account of one of the old-timers of the forum; then everything would look normal. And then... someone comes along and writes a wall of tears. Nonsense.

By trusting such bastards, we let them think that people won't understand their deception, and they can be fooled from time to time. By expressing such "condolences," we are not doing good but "causing," which have completely different concepts.

Everyone should have a healthy skepticism so that AI doesn't get ahead of humans one day.🤷‍♀️

    Maybe this post?
It currently has 120 merits and I have checked it with a couple of AI detectors which show that it is 100% Ai generated content. The conclusion is clear, none of the merits senders have checked whether it is about AI
I sent 12 Merit to that post. When a post is created by AI, it usually "feels" like something's off. In this case, I didn't even think about that possibility. If my gut feeling was wrong here, chatbots have significantly improved.

That post reeks of AI use.
I'll read my archived version again: it reads like an open letter to "the attacker". It still doesn't sound like AI to me, and I've seen open letters like this long before AI was able to do this.

That's not the post I was referring to. When talking about another merit abuse, Lucius was talking about this post, to which I said that it "reeks of AI". User in question even tried to save himself by throwing someone else under the bus, but it didn't end up as he hoped for.

Since the using of Ai is been restricted, any good post i come across from the newbies, i have to check the post with copyleaks or with QuillBot, To know if it's AI generated or not, with this two tools I mentioned, i can be able to know if the user is using Ai to make his post..I don't bother to review the users profile to compare the previous post and recent post..because it's possible that someone can improve in post writing...

    • Do you think looking at a user's history is a form of due diligence or should merit be based solely on the quality of the individual post?

Basically awarding a merit to any user, it's should be based on the quality of the post.. Someone can make multiple posts, but it's few of the post are quality or meaningful..so those ones who are meaningful, are the ones that can be merited..

I doubt about that as your merit sending history in last 120 days shows something different. I don't know did you actually use tools for checking AI posts but your merit sending history shows you merited shitposts.

With this information, it's hard to convince me that you check AI posts before sending merit. Possibly you checked some other things but not check AI and post quality.

I feel like it is a post for getting post quota only.

Not often; I checked post history occasionally for examples of someone needing some extra merits to rank up. Otherwise, as a merit source, we need a lot of time if we need to check post history for each sent merit. Whenever I find a post that is likely generated by AI, then I just leave it as is.

For me, I merit based on quality posts. It doesn’t matter even if the user is red-tagged; it doesn’t mean his post is the worst. If I found it, then I merit it based on the post quality, not the user. But likely not for banned users if I noticed them somehow. So for me, it’s individual posts that I consider when sending merits.

I recently came across a unexpectedly good post from a newbie. My first instinct was to send merit, but i hesitated. Instead, I visited the user's profile to see whether the quality of that post was consistent with their previous contributions. My restrain is probably because the rise of ai generated posts on the forum.

This has made me realize that ai may not only be changing the behavior of those who abuse the forum, but also the behavior of every other members who evaluate posts.

    This left me with two questions;

    • If you come across a high-quality post from a lower-ranked member, do you merit it immediately or do you first check their posting history?
    • Do you think looking at a user's history is a form of due diligence or should merit be based solely on the quality of the individual post?

When I see a very good and interesting thread created by low rank members the next thing I do is to copy the post and check it in my different AI detectors once I confirm it was not generated from AI I just merit the person. I don’t bother my self going through the history of the person’s posts because I believe sending out merit should be based solely on the quality of the individual post.
The reason why I believe giving out merit should be based solely on the quality of the individual post is because, some good posts are gotten from person experience or in the process of learning or discovering, that one good and educative post that is gotten from ways like this should not be lift without merit simply because of his or her past posts.
I believe I have answered your last question.

I'll read my archived version again: it reads like an open letter to "the attacker". It still doesn't sound like AI to me, and I've seen open letters like this long before AI was able to do this.
That's not the post I was referring to.
It's the (deleted) post Lucius linked to, see my earlier quote.

If I see a post where I can learn something, I will definitely give merit to that post. But one thing is that I have been in this forum for a long time and have gradually learned a lot. Now if a newbie account has been in the forum for just a few days and posts something that is suspicious, then I will definitely look at the history of that account. Because no matter how knowledgeable a person is, when a new person comes to this forum, he will definitely take some time to review everything. Someone will never take time to gain knowledge, review the forum, become an expert about the forum and then create an account, this is a normal thing.

I admit that I rarely merit someone because nowadays I'm not spending much time here. So, AI haven't affected me that much on this matter. But if I would see post from new member or old spammer who looks not typical for such kind of member, I wouldn't merit it.
I'm already getting sick of AI stuff - texts, images, music and etc. Hell, I raather would see posts with typing mistakes, half-broken English, but made by human, not soullesss AI stuff.

I remember some members with large merit sendables used to complain about how bad people use English making communication or message expression difficult which makes them not to merit those bad English post but however I still remember recommendations that had the use of AI pages that helps in correcting sentences but today it’s not longer a correction but a complete use for generation of walls of text, I wonder what will be the fate of those members now. Anyways I agree with you that I prefer bad English to soulless AI generated text.
