I would not care too much if a post has been created or not with or without AI.
however, without mentioning specific cases, have you tried ever to read one of these - random posts Roll Eyes ?
The long list of errors that you find inside, or even the poor grammar construct would make just a waste of time read a post.

If the outcome could be seen as useful, and it would be used positevely (no red trust), I would not have doubts for add a merit.
What I would see as important: it could become impressively boring have a forum with AI resources/long wall of text.

This is entirely a different thought I have read in this discussion discussion.

To be very sure i understood you, let me say what i understood.

There are some posts that are very much unreadable, poorly formatted, wrong/no punctuations and too many errors. You are saying that you prefer an ai written text to such kind of unreadable posts?

I agree that anyone who wants to post in the general boards should at least know how to form a readable sentence, else they remain in their local board.

...Merit is given to individual posts. A user might have plenty of ordinary posts, but then they make one post that they put a lot of effort into, that's the one that earns merit.
I agree.
Some posts appear as low quality because their creators refuse to put efforts in making them. Some posts are made in extreme haste, forgetting that people of higher bitcoin knowledge will read them.

In this case I am talking about Ai post/resumes here in bitcointalk.
At a certain point these are Wall of text. Who would read these long post - full of garage or completely far away of human style? Did you see something useful on this?
Defintely i would not merit any of these attempts. Internet Forums have not been designed for interaction with bot/AI

If I see that the post's itself carried some value I usually merit them. Well you can easily separate the AI slops at a first glance. Our human minds always wants to read something written by a true human. But even AI can make good post's it depends on how good the user is trying to reflect it on their thread/posts. But surrendering to AI completely is just a pure bullshit nothing else.

You can rephrase your idea, rewrite your sloppy writing but the main thing is do not change the way how you feel . A writing makes it alive cause it has some human emotion , experience.

If no reputable users have given him merits
So being a reputable member you're not considering yourself as a reputable or respected person and pushing other's to make the move first? This is so wrong and I think you should change the perspective, if everyone is looking for someone to appears first there would be no one left.

Potentially AI generated posts always come of as out of place in the thread I find them in and never really deserving of merits. They could only look right when it's a thread you're starting, but when replying to a discussion, it's easier to spot.

Great to see someone is actually giving attention to AI without falling in noises. Actually if a user's thread/Topic idea is that user's alone I think there's no room to complain. Cause we probably use AI to write to sounds good and make our topic more understandable to other's. Cause we might have the idea but we're not a good presenting it.

Sometimes you don't even need to have an AI detector to map out AI generated content. Most times I think copy pasted AI contents come from farmer accounts than actual newbies. Areal newbie will refrain from AI the moment they notice it's frowned upon on the forum.

It's true this section is so much crowded that's why don't see any quality post's. AI even goes this farther that we stopped thinking ourselves and asks AI How to make good post's on forum , pick me some good topic to write maybe these are the criteria of them lol don't know just speculating.

It is also normal that lower-ranked accounts will not be able to make such good posts in the beginning, so I think it is necessary to see in which direction the posts they made from the start are growing. Usually, this is how the post matters of a lower-ranked account should be looked at.

From your post's history I'm seeing you're making good quality post's of yourself from Day 1. So how you're judging other's that they  can't but you can. It's a misconception nothing else. Try to change your Point of view for other's.
Some have knowledge but they're not good writer, some have enough good writing skill but maybe not enough knowledge. Well it varies person to person.

So how you're judging other's that they  can't but you can. It's a misconception nothing else.
It was not said in a way that I can do it but they cannot, but from the point of judgment and consideration, the matter is not that they cannot, because those who cannot can also do it if they gradually try.

Maybe you also noticed the words at the beginning of my post, where I mentioned that if someone gradually moves towards improvement, then it should be viewed positively.

If their posts gradually become better from the beginning then see it positively.

I've read it and I know it. Did you read my post's? Or just seeing some word rush to reply.  I'm quoteing myself again with highlighting.

I'm seeing that your post quality has been remain same from day 1. So now tell me you we're newbie at some point right? So why you are  assumption is gradually.

There's still lot of talented user's on other social media who don't even has any forum account. So let's say they are appearing on forum and you will judge them from their rank?

If this has been done by all forum members no memeber would have ranked up from JR memeber to  memeber , memeber to full memeber. We still has some generous people who has intend to merit what actually deserves the merit.

I myself don't judge a user's post by their ranking. I've given lot of newbie user merits and JR member.

I've read it and I know it. Did you read my post's?
I gave the reply after reading your post, and nothing about rushing was said here.

Quote
So now tell me you we're newbie at some point right?
If I look at my posts from the beginning, I still feel how I was at that time. I spent a lot of time and looked at other people's posts and moved forward this way. I tried to do my best to make good posts and I liked one thing that my posts were liked by you from the beginning. The only reason I said my point gradually is that I also learned and moved forward slowly, but what you said that there are differences from person to person is also correct.

If they come to the forum and in the beginning just look at the forum rules and regulations properly, then they will also be able to make good posts, this is also correct. From my point of view, those who are good posters according to their small or big rank should definitely be respected and I also do that.

I am very surprised to see a poster like you can discuss about post quality.
Just one post and a quick look at Silikiem's post history was enough to add him to my Ignore list.

I avoid putting people in my ignore list so I can watch what they say without additional clicks. Well, some exceptions are made.
I believe having a script or an option to filter or restrict sending merit to a specific user would be better than ignoring them. I am talking especially about staff with the ability to ban members mainly.

By the way, members of some signature campaigns should be double checked because having a long post and 2 - 3 quoted texts in the same post are classic ways to avoid suspicions and make their posts look good while they are empty inside.

I really hate how "Merit" is now bringing shitposters to the boards that used to be okay. Until 2 years ago, I didn't frequently have to Ignore users who posted in Meta or the tech boards.
The problems of spam in last four years approximately and it has increased with time are all from merit system failures. When shitposters ranked up easily, with shitposts, they will spam everywhere.

I noted about it.
Think:
If we force spammers to rank up by posting good, we force them to have a good writing habit, and when they ranked up already, they will more likely post good, or at least better than spammers.

A person who ranked up from posting good will make it a writing and posting habit and will not lose it after ranking up to Hero member or Legendary member rank, whereas the spammers who ranked up by shitposts to Hero/ Legendary member rank will continue his habit (writing shitposts). While with time, the farm becomes bigger and more shits around.

Quote
The number of Merit sent per week didn't go down, but the number of posts dropped a lot:
About 8 years ago, Bitcointalk had 353813 posts per week, now it's 23065. That's 93.5% less (although not all of those posts were spam).
That means there's about 15-20 times more Merit per post now. That explains why shitposters can rank up, and I think there's too much Merit going around, and in the wrong places.
Before this post, I remember someone posted that total new accounts did not increase too much, but spam increased a lot. If my memory serves me, you made that post some days after the signature ban kick-off.

That information is right because I saw they woke up newbie accounts then farmed merits and it has become more popular when they got more merits in their circles, from merit sources and years later, it's what we have witnessed recent months with shitposts around.

I also posted somewhere that they have a trick to create threads, waiting a merit source to merit it, then they will use their accounts to merit that thread/ post. They take advantage of merit source like a quality guarantee for that post/ thread, and honestly it's a clever strategy but when it is abused, it's easily realized.

Seeing this thread, what immediately got to mind mind is, what if there was something like demerit in this forum, when you later discover that you merited a post that was generated by AI, the next thing to do is to demerit it Grin.
I know that many people have merited an AI generated post without knowing because they didn’t check, and I can’t blame them because checking every post you want to merit if it’s AI generated is kind of stressful, especially for merit source that merit a lot of post.
Some post when checked with AI detector may show you large percentage of AI, even though it was not written by AI. This happens when you write very well and with the right punctuation marks in the right places.

Cheesy

Demerit if is launched and used will be for shitposts and not only restricted to AI-generated posts or plagiarized posts.
Do you think your merited posts will not be demerited, seriously?

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

When merit sources use their power to build their farm or even merit posts that don't deserve any (frequently) will be kicked out from source, it happened in the past if I am not wrong.

Still, people keep finding ways to build their farm but one obvious thing is they use the local boards to receive 99% of their merits and keep circling around so if we just restrict the merit button to the mainboard alone, that will eliminate most of them.
