What happened:: The newbie member, who registered on August 1 (just three days ago), created a thread in the Marketplace section promoting a website that was registered only 3 days ago and claims to be a store selling Bitcoin wallets.

The site lists wallets containing 30 BTC for just 0.06 BTC, and another wallet containing 20 BTC for only 0.0085 BTC. Those prices don't make sense compared to the value supposedly stored in those wallets.

Also, the website asks you to pay first and then gives you an encrypted file, then tells you to guess the password yourself and "try to sort it out blindly."

The site also claims to have a 4.9/5 rating (5 stars) from satisfied customers, yet there is no visible feedback or customer reviews to support that claim, which strongly suggests that these ratings are fake.

The domain name alone screams scam/fraud  @crypto-vault-market.online Grin
They actually make life so easy to identify that they are scammers

The website also has another link that redirects to satoshi-disk.com. Both sites could be linked, and the same scammer might be behind all of them

Do not visit the website, click any links, or attempt to make any transactions, as this is a malicious attempt to steal your assets.

Legitimate Bitcoin wallets containing actual funds are never sold by third parties at a discount; if a wallet has money in it, the owner would simply transfer the funds to their own secure address.

It doesn't make sense if a site owns 30 BTC and they are selling it just for 0.06 BTC. Those will trust them; they really deserve a scam. Because they are overgreedy and stupid as well. Those who used to have at least common sense won’t trust such offers from a website that was just born 3 days back.

Thanks for bringing it up here; greedy users should take a lesson from here. That’s the reason we should have enough knowledge about crypto before doing any action for something. There are a lot of crypto scammers around us, and they often look for the new opportunities and target new users.

Tagged from my end.

Greedy people would believe anything, even if you intend to sell a pre-loaded wallet supposedly containing 100 bitcoins for just 100 dollars, you'd find people queue up to buy it. I have zero pity for people who fall for the wallet.dat file scam, if you had the intentions of taking money that does not belong to you, then maybe it feels right you get scammed.
I strongly recommend everyone to avoid interacting with this new site, as it appears to be nothing more than a scheme to steal your Bitcoin without providing any real value to you after purchase.
People who attempt to buy these files aren't even looking for any real value, but to steal. That's why they never open up as to where they got the file when they can't open it. They make posts on the forum claiming to have a wallet with a large amount of coins, but somehow forgot the password, or it was for their dead brother/dad/sister/etc.

Both are definitely controlled by one person; just look at the support contact information, which doesn't match the site name. Satoshi Disk isn't actually that unfamiliar to me, and yeah, I found a post from the original site here. https://bta.lk/t/2872946.0

I already reported about their first website with the domain registrar Beget, and they're reviewing it now. They'll probably take action soon.

As for the other website you mentioned, I'm quite sure that the same scammer behind the first site is also behind the second one which is only two days old. I recommend not uploading any important files to it. The scammer might have access to the site's database which means they could access the files that users upload there for sale and steal them.

Update:

I didn't notice that this scammer had created another new topic after the first one was removed, around the time I created this thread.

I have already reported the new topic:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5590352.0

Since the scammer has not been banned, I created the following flag so that a warning message will appear at the top of their topics.

If you believe that dealing with this scammer puts forum members at risk, please support the flag here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=3572

I have also updated the OP and added the flag link so it is now visible to everyone.
