So we have countries who for and against Infantino to be the next president. Interestingly, most of nations who vote for came from Asia, Africa and South America while most of EU nations are against it. Although Infatino has only less than one year left to keep his position as a FIFA president, but this is gonna be a very long wayyy story.

This is actually a very good situation, because if after all some football associations support that greedy fanatic, then I don't doubt for a moment that they support him because they appreciate and love him, but because they were bribed with FIFA money. I hope that as many UEFA members as possible will express their dissatisfaction and, as a last resort, boycott all competitions under the leadership of FIFA.

I'm only wondering what FIFA will be doing to survive without UEFA market because it's their biggest market. I don't think they can rely upon the nations which have lower financial level compared to the UEFA nations. Maybe, Infantino will seek another help from Trump.

The election is scheduled for March 17, 2027. I can't find the market on Polymarket so far. I think it's still a long time until the next election, and everything can change, especially when it comes to smear campaigns and other forms of manipulation.

Infantino is backed by oil money, so it wouldn't be an easy election for Aleksander Ceferin. A bit OOT from this FIFA president election, but speaking of corruption, I think the AFC needs to be investigated as well. There's a lack of transparency, and it seems to always favor West Asian nations, especially the oil countries.

FYI, the current AFC president is Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa from Bahrain. He has been AFC president since 2013. He was re-elected in 2023, so he will serve until 2027. Actually, that's already his third term. The rule initially limited the presidency to three terms. But in 2024, the AFC removed that rule, so he will be able to run for re-election again in 2027.

American don't care at all about football (soccer). It is not their best game at the opposite from the rest of the world. Trump saw an opportunity to show himself and to milk fans. Once his trick failed, he will retract unless someone asks him for help in exchange for a good deal.

I'm absolutely certain he'll soon cease to be the top man at FIFA, because of the way he was booed at World Cup matches, especially when he was shown on TV during breaks. The discontent among football fans and supporters can't be hidden; it's there, and any appearance he makes on Wednesday will only make things worse. Everyone can see it, and it won't last long, at least in my opinion. I wouldn't want to see him again after the scandals he's been through, so it would be a good idea for his time in such a high-profile position to end, because I'm sure there are plenty of contenders for his position who could do much better than him.

Infantino is making leadership decisions that have controversy, but it does not mean that he is not right. Unless those decisions are actually materialized which means unless they actually happen we have no way to be sure that they are going to work out good or bad. Many times people were against such ideas when they were the best choices and led to the best results. Actually if you look at many countries of the world people are still refusing the privatization of many state corporations even if in almost all the cases in the developed world like the European Union this has always led to better service and results for the client.

Disagreeing with decisions and even more so for irrational reasons does not mean that the decisions that someone wants to take are bad. Many disagreements are not based on a rational and thorough analysis of the pros and cons of some decisions, they are emotional reactions that happen in the moment and are often done for the wrong reasons like nostalgia. You making a very important point here, Infantino was brought in on the premise of fighting corruption in FIFA football governing body. When corruption allegations were brought up against Sepp Blatter then due to the fall over of which country should host the world cup. And people started investigating FIFA on how they went about giving the right to hosting the world cup.


I expected that Infantino should have brought in a more transparent Leadership as president of FIFA. Actually this is the most common way that companies and governments work between themselves, when there is some kind of dispute people try to involve someone who has power or influence on the side that needs to be persuaded to make a decision. You guys are trying to make it so that saying please can you do something is a sign of corruption, when it is a normal human action. Yes, you are right because people are generally good before they get the responsibility and they don't have many scandals but when a person is given the responsibility of something and when he is in charge and his power increases a lot, he is not the same as before, he changes a lot and starts abusing his power. But whatever it is, I think Aleksander Ceferin is the frontrunner for the FIFA president but in the meantime I saw a news that Donald Trump will keep Infantino as the president. Arsene Winger, did I see that right! Didn’t know he was a viable contender for the office although, I don’t think he would be able to get it. Perhaps it’s not what I think though but, I find Nasser Al-Khelaifi as a good pick, though it’s a little complicated being PSG president.

Wouldn’t that be considered in electing a president for a body such as FIFA? Owning stakes in a club could be a game changer.

It looks like Gianni Infantino's grip on FIFA is finally starting to slip, I wanted to start a thread to see what everyone thinks about who might be stepping up to take over the role next.

After everything that has gone down recently regarding FIFA's plan to sell off a 20% commercial stake in future World Cups to private equity investors for $20 billion, Infantino is facing unprecedented backlash. Offering $20 million bribes to individual federations backfired and major confederations including UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation have all officially rejected the proposal. Figures like La Liga president Javier Tebas have openly called for his resignation, German FA president Bernd Neuendorf refused to endorse his re election and the Football Association of Wales became the first association to officially announce they will not support him.

The next FIFA presidential election is set for March 18, 2027, at the 77th FIFA Congress in Rabat, Morocco, with a candidate declaration deadline of November 18, 2026. However there is growing speculation that he might not even make it that far. If 19 of the 37 members of the FIFA Council call an emergency meeting or if 43 member associations formally request an extraordinary congress, he could face a vote of no confidence and be forced out well before the 2027 vote.

I went with Patrice Motsepe because it is time someone from Africa gets a real shot at the top job, not just a symbolic position. He's been running CAF, so he understands the politics and the challenges. The other candidates like Ceferin and Al-Khelaifi are the usual European picks. But Motsepe could bring a fresh perspective, especially with how football is growing in Africa. African teams are getting stronger and the continent has so much talent. Having someone from there at the top could help shift the focus and resources to where they're needed most.
