Nah, I'm Polish, and I don't really support any of the German clubs. I used to watch a lot of Bundesliga though and I'm aware that Schalke was a force to be reckoned with for most of its history (and still has great potential in terms of the number of supporters and stadium attendance), so I expect more of them than from other newly promoted clubs.

Well done to Dzonikg for winning this round and jumping up the table by 10 places, and to Cygan for getting the bonus question right.

3 weeks in and I still haven't managed to get any exact score right 9i.e. a 4-pointer), but I'm not that far behind the top guys, so it's all good.

It wasn't a particularly convincing victory for Bayern (perhaps Elversberg is just that good?), but Kane demonstrated exactly what is expected of a future Ballon d'Or winner: he decided the outcome through individual brilliance.

I wouldn't count on it. I plan to repeat that round from the last season where I got every game result correct After pretty bad start, I'm slowly climbing up the table. One or two perfect weekends and I'll be above you

Thanks man, seems like a long way to go. Even had to look up this 1st leg, had no idea German league saw this kind of milestone, is it something traditional and do teams do something special about it?

in the 63 seasons to date, 16 different teams have been 'Herbstmeister'... bayern münchen has achieved this the most often (28 times), followed by werder bremen (6 times) and borussia mönchengladbach and borussia dortmund (4 times each)

It crossed my mind to pick Dortmund instead, but picking underdogs doesn't seem like a good strategy unless you're behind in points and have no other choice.

B = Bonus points
W = Wins
T = Total points

the number of 'wins (w)' is also important at the end of the season, because in the case of a tie in points between first and second place, the 'wins' are taken into account - whoever has more wins.

That is tough to decide at the beginning of the season when nobody has a disadvantage! For sure I'm one of those who picks crazy results when I'm already below the middle in a pool, this is where the bonus question comes in handy. But at start of season? Totally doesn't make sense to me so I will salute you as much as @cygan if you get this right!!

I just check out various statistics (earlier H2H matches, injuries...) about teams that are scheduled to meet in a round before I submit. But to win the competition you have to have a bit of luck like I did last season.

It’s a strange round in my view - at least judging by the bookmakers' odds: Bayern looks unconvincing, yet the most likely scoreline against Union is 4–0  On the one hand, I support it (average figures don't lie), but I don't want to make a cash bet even with just -1.5 handicap. I also find it strange that Mönchengladbach is rated as the underdog against Mainz, after all, they are playing at home and have changed their coach. I think I'll take a chance on this round, 50 bucks looks tempting

I don't think that watching one game per round will help you to do better in predictions. At least that's my experience. Not because my predictions are based on the stats, but because one game per round will say nothing about how other teams will perform or if a manager will rotate some players. All in all, I think that these kind of predictions depend on luck a lot. Sure, it helps if a person follows news about teams in Bundesliga, but competing in few pools and competitions doesn't leave me much time to focus solely on one league.

I'm glad to hear you withdrew the money! I wish I were like you  I won $134 from my free bet and naturally wagered it all again... and the odds, of course, were anything but modest. The result was to be expected. I’m just glad that it wasn’t only Liverpool that let me down, but another club too, if it had been just Liverpool, I’d have already started making a set of voodoo dolls for that team.
