The whole discussion sounds like a never-ending loop to me. If you were making $1k per month before, now due to inflation your salary must have increased by 4x to 5x, I don't know, but here the salary has not increased a lot.

Yes, I have the pleasure to at least work in other countries before. I would say though that skills are required, but there's not much of a competition specially if you have a good degree back then, work in US base companies and then they sponsor you as a expat.

And then when i came back home, I was exposed to that kind of living environment so after a few years, I resigned and then try to go to Canada. But there are a lot of personal things that happened to me back then that after a couple of years, I go back to my country. But no regrets though, money is still here but it was not the same as when someone really work in US and Canada and that experience.

I understand your thingking, post world war II until early 2000, economic growth of western countries especially you have mentioned is quite high, credit easier to get along with the advertising industry, at that time proice of property still affordable compared with income of each levels of worker, what very fruitfull are job opportunities were plentiful, or simply said competition levels were low. But still we need skill at that time to make money.

Nowdays, on globalization era, we compete not only with people on our cities or country but we have brutal competition with workforce around the world on all level, start from hard labour until profesional level, plus automation and AI replacing some of human work with previously can bec done without specific skill.

A lot of people have said it's no different from before, but IMO it's not always the same because there are trade-offs. I think purchasing power definitely differs; that's why it's easier to buy properties now.

I think there's a big gap in income equality because the economy is different from before. The gains are definitely different, and there are differences with healthcare as well.

It's better not to compare but to focus on how to become better. I do miss the prices before ^{(as long as the money I have remains if I were to travel back lol)}, but nothing is gonna happen if we only look to the past. We need to learn from it.
