Hello guys,

I saw today in the news feed > News: COLDCARD users only: critical vulnerability risks funds stored on COLDCARD devices; immediate action required.
Just wondering if there is place where older news are stored as an archive? I guess I can go with the wayback machine and check but that will be quite time consuming..

cheers Smiley

The closest thing to that may be the important announcement board - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=87.0

Anything not posted there is probably just about updates on bitcojn core, or annual art contests like the pumpkin one. Hopefully a mod sees this and let's us know if there's an archive for the news updates.

Old news about the Coldcard vulnerability or you are generally referring to all old news?

You can read about the Coldcard vulnerability here on this forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5589927.0

If you are referring to old news generally, you will need to be checking all necessary boards on this forum and I believe you know the boards.

…….
You don’t get it!!

In this part of the forum where news are displayed, it has never been recorded that a news that is not the latest update on bitcoincore or the forum related news like contests, is not displayed there but the coldcard incident that played out is displayed above for people to take immediate action, which op is trying to say that it’s the first of its kind and maybe a history that is just born in Bitcointalk or should I call it news paradigm shift.

As far as I recall, this isn't the first time theymos has linked to announcements unrelated to Bitcoin Core updates or forum events. Users could start a poll thread to discuss whether such things should be announced there, especially given that it involves a critical security issue. This is one of them, but as I recall, there are even more.

If this is available, i'll appreciate it. I would have read the community reactions to some news such as;

Binance hack, FTX hack, china ban of bitcoin mining etc.

These news are scattered everywhere in the forum and not in any kind of news board. People will argue that it is fine like this because here is not any kind of news forum.

There are two pages in Important Announcements child board and there are five very important threads: two threads with red squares and three threads with yellow squares. I am unsure about other threads in that board but red and yellow threads certainly were linked in the Forum events area (News).

Five colored threads
Quote
Critical vulnerability affecting COLDCARD users only
Electrum vulnerability allows arbitrary messages, phishing
New info escalates importance: upgrading to 0.16.3 is REQUIRED
DoS in Bitcoin Core: update required
Critical Electrum vulnerability

The other times are for forum events like Pizza contests.

I just surfed it for a while and I could see a couple of old news there so basically it does seem close to it like you mentioned. However I strongly think there should probably be some sort of log for that link space I don't really know but it's good we have a record of it.

If there could be a log for it then it would be simple as a breeze to surf through old issues , bugs and so on. Lately you can't really be over careful and any information is relatively important the more you read the better you can see ways to not be a victim. As for the coldcard issue more and more coins are still being stolen most victims don't even know yet.

Not gonna happen.

Let me give you a simple hack;
Go to your browser, search whatever you want to know about, “Binance hack” etc
Add Bitcointalk at the end of the search message,
And your browser will show you all topics with binance hack related informations.

However this is just traditional if you don’t know how to use the forum search engines but if you wish to do it within the forum search engines h you can go to B&H and read any of the how to use search buttons.

If someone wanted to create one and go back several years, they could make use of archive sites (although it would take a lot of time to find them all). I've never actually found a list of news bar post history.
